Why do people pay greater heed to stories linking players with rivals than they do to stories linked players with United?

Shit loads of stories of United going for Nasri - it's his agent/won't happen/media bollocks
A bunch of stories of City going for Nasri - he's going there.

pfffffft to the lot of you.

Then have the cheek to say those that pay attention to the United links as Arrogant.......

News: All of tomorrow's papers are full of the Nasri and Clichy story we brought you earlier this evening. The Guardian claims Manchester City are distancing themselves from the reported interest in Nasri.

There may be truth to this. From a City point of view, if Nasri is looking United bound then they would not want to be be seen to be beaten, once again, for a signature. I would expect that the more City "distance" themselve the more likely it is that he isn't going there.

The argument that he would choose City for money is stupid. City could offer him more money and just as good a chance of winning silverware as Arsenal, if not more given the departure of Fabregas etc.

However, if Nasri is motivated by playing for a consistantly winning side, with stability and proven track record, then he would undoubtedly join ourselves.

After the frustrations of winning nothing at Arsenal, he would surely know where his safest bet lies.

One further thing from the Auclair interview. He states that Nasri's dream is to play in La Liga eventually. feck that.

Maybe we're giving up on him - might be Wenger's stubbornness. If that's the case it's probably why City have moved in - they realise they have a chance now

Manchester City are confident that the Arsenal left-back Gaël Clichy will become their first signing of the summer, but they have distanced themselves from reports that they are also trying to persuade Arsenal into a £20m deal for Samir Nasri.

The two clubs have agreed a £7m fee for Clichy and the player is expected to arrive in Manchester early next week. But there have been no high-level talks about Nasri's potential availability and none are planned.

Nasri, who has been prominently linked with a move to Manchester United, has one year left on his contract and City are monitoring him as a possible back-up option for later in the summer. However, their interest has never gone beyond that point and City are bemused by reports they have been closing in on a deal with the player's agent and club

That dodgy Italian only wants to try to buy players once we go for them. He obviously doesnt trust his own judgement of players

Nasri's using both Manchester clubs.

Agree. Perhaps he does want a move to United, but it's convenient that reports suggest 180k. He's either trying to get a pay rise from Arsenal by using both ourselves and City, or he's using City to try and get a better contract at United should he join.

Either way, it's cnutish, but understandable.

Or it's complete speculation by newspaper cnuts that know feck all.

He's not yet agreed a new contract with Arsenal, thats all we know really, isn't it?

There's not a word about Nasri in L'Equipe, Onze or France Football. 'Clichy to City', yes, but not Nasri.

The more I think about this the more I think that Wenger might be prepared to let him run his contract down rather than sell to a rival.

Would the Arsenal board agree with that though if they get a £20 million offer faxed to them for a player that has one year left on his contract? At the end of the day football is business at all clubs except maybe City.

Is an unhappy player going to be playing to £20 million value for a season when he's not comitted and doesnt want to be there?

Why is it funny? All signs of late show that he's going to City.

What are people on Twitter saying about Nasri? Is he closer to signing for City or just staying in North London.

The more optimistic are reporting Nasri is'nt top of City's wish-list and we're in prime position to snatch him.

I really can't see this happening, despite the volume of stories linking him to us (we all know everything on the internet is true). Having said that, I think he'd be absolutely ideal.

Young, creative, experienced, and premier league tested.

I'm not one for muppetry, and I wouldn't be distraught if we didn't sign a midfielder this transfer window, but signing Nasri would be an excellent move. Especially at 20 million.

City are pissing me off. We have enough trouble competing for foreign talent due to the weather and now anybody who wants to come to Manchester will just get stupid money thrown at them to go to City :nervous:

I don't mind it, it ensures that we only get players here who are desperate to play for Manchester United.
