Nasri To City - Done Deal!

Fair enough, but why would they post up a story about Nasri on the official website if there was nothing in it?
They give us something about what the papers are saying every day. They've got to post something in there that's United related. No point in giving us Liverpool's or Chelsea's transfer gossip is there.

Transfer stuff helps them to fill the website sections when the football season has ended.

But still nothing came of it is what I'm saying. Just because stuff stays in the press doesn't mean anything will happen.

Yeah but there was still truth in the rumours which is all that was being said. I doubt there's anyone in this thread who thinks a signing will happen because the papers say so. If they do I feel sorry for them. I think all that was being said was that when a rumour carries on as long as this then there's a good chance there is some interest in the player.

It looks very likely that he will be off somewhere this summer, they can't afford to let him go on a free next year. The transfer is complicated by the potential Fabregas move and because it's United that want him. Looks like it might hinge on what happens with Sanchez.

Ironically, Arsenal's excellent financial management means they'll probably lose Nasri.

Arsenal did it to us when they stole silvestre...

“I think he’s looking for more money obviously. I don’t know what he’s on, £60-70,000 a week, and he’s looking for £110,000.”

A single line that sums up everything that is wrong with talkshite (as well as 99% of other media ;sources').

Seems quite sure of his £110,000 figure though. :)

We have this over and over again.

Our best football last season was with Giggs next to Carrick and Rooney in the hole. We'd simply swap Giggs for Nasri or Sneijder.

I can just about understand the reservations with Sneijder despite the fact that he played in a 2 at Real Madrid most of the time but I don't get it with Nasri. For France he occupies that role with Gourcuff in front of him in the Rooney position.

Really?, iv'e only really seen France since the world cup. Paid attention cause i thought Blanc is a good manager. But under Blanc they hardly played together. They played together for almost full games was vs England and Luxemburg. They played together for like 15 minutes in another game vs Luxemburg

Against Croatia Nasri was subbed off for Gourcuff, and again against Romania.

The rare times Nasri has had Gourcuff infront of him, he's not looked great. It's a bit like Gerrard for England isn't it. Just because Gerrard can play left wing to fit in Lampard, does not mean he's any good at it does it?

People could argue he produced his best football for club. If he came to united and produced for us and not France? I wouldn't lose any sleep over it :)

My point wasn't necessarily that he plays with Gourcuff, just that for France under Blanc, when he starts games he plays as a deeper midfielder. The ones I remember

v. Luxembourg
v. Belarus (away)
v. England

I only once remember him playing in the hole/a more forward position (against Romania I think) for them since Blanc took over.

he's actually been injured for a couple of their qualifiers and sat on the bench too at the start of the campaign. In the games I've seen him playing deeper, for Arsenal too, I think he produces his best football and impacts the game the most from there.

Guy on Twitter claiming to have got text from Jim Lawlor saying we've signed Nasri.:

£23.2m on 4 year deal.

He says the news will be out tomorrow or at the very most 2 days, so I guess we'll quickly find out if it's rubbish or not.

Gone to a fair bit of effort if it is a WUM. It's at least more credible than TransferUpdate or any of those knobheads, if purely on the basis that it's a bit inventive.

That guy also said that Varane was a done deal, Feeky. Personally think he is talking shit, but as you say we'll know it tommorow.

10 out of 10 for inventiveness!

Olly just cooked up something similar in about 20 seconds.

Would they risk allowing him to leave on free next year?

No, they'll probably bow to his demands. I suspect they'll find a way to give him more cash without breaking their wage structure. A one off payment? Who knows eh.

Agreed

The first one to leave will ensure the other guy stays

Considering that Thiago Alcantara have re-signed for Barcelona, maybe Barca have dropped out of signing Fabregas.

Or else, it could be United using this story as a smokescreen, while trying to sign someone else - Modric?

Yeah, looking through his timeline he doesn't seem to be the most reliable. Stupid thing to do, promising a signing in the short-term scale - presuming it doesn't happen, he'll have lost any credibility he had.

Have a look in the Twatter thread.

I don't think it's only about Money. With Arsenal selling their best player again, it's only natural that some player might think of going to somewhere else to win some trophies.
