That was the plan all along. United wanting him was his security if arsenal failed to come up with his expectations.
It's like the Rooney situation at the start of last season.

Rooney is not going to play every game & he isn't going to play well in every game. We need back ups & more than anything we need extra options.
I could never understand the interest in Nasri and Sniejder, both great players and both very creative, but both play in a very advanced role in midfield, almost behind the striker. A role that Rooney occupied, and excelled in last season.
Given the players that we currently have in the squad, i don't really see us shifting away from playing 4-4-2 in the majority of games, or the 4-4-1-1 that Fergie seemed to prefer in the bigger games towards the end of the season.
So surely Nasri does not fit the bill for the certain player we're looking for? I don't see him as a player who can play deeper in the midfield and be comfortable in a two man midfield. He does not really have a defensive side to his game and i think his passing range is limited to players that are immediatly near him, he's certainly not a player who we'll see putting a 30 yard ball over defenders head for Hernandez to run onto.
As i said, great player, but i just don't see him in a United side. Unless Fergie plans to alter tactics.

We have this over and over again.
Our best football last season was with Giggs next to Carrick and Rooney in the hole. We'd simply swap Giggs for Nasri or Sneijder.
I can just about understand the reservations with Sneijder despite the fact that he played in a 2 at Real Madrid most of the time but I don't get it with Nasri. For France he occupies that role with Gourcuff in front of him in the Rooney position.
This is obviously not going to happen, folks.

First! We will never buy Sneijder. To expensive, we talk about £35-45m and 175-225 000/week for a 27 years old playboy with a fancy celebrity wife. Can you see Yolanthe hanging with Sir Bobby and the other top brass on Old Trafford VIP. Don't think so. Forget him.
Second. I agree with your thought's regarding Nasri playing alongside Carrick. My only concern is Ando. He's also part of the future and would he fit in together with Nasri or is Carrick his only suitable partner?

He's staying then.Now there's a surprise.
Doesn't hint at anything. Just shows Arsenal's new away kit. Pretty awful too."Arsenal new away kit photo hints at Samir Nasri Man United transfer snub"

Doesn't mean much in truth but Fabragas not being there says a lot. If neither had attended however the Gunners fans would be going ape.
So Arsenal's shirt is made of recycled plastic bottles? That'll help rid them of the 'bottlers' tag then?
Evra and Vidic to leave United both dragged on for quite some time.
And Evra recently admitted there was some truth to it.
Agreed. Most probably, Fabregas will leave then Nasri will signs a new contract and Arsenal fans will be happy because they lost one player instead of two...
If I were Nasri - Fabregas leaving would not be the news I would want to sign a new contract. Rather the opposite actually

But still nothing came of it is what I'm saying. Just because stuff stays in the press doesn't mean anything will happen.
Or maybe he wants to join a team that's constantly winning trophies . Wage demands are probably more likely, I agree.
John Cross and Darren Lewis write in the Daily Mirror...
Arsenal fear Fab and Nasri will leave this week
Arsenal fear they will lose £20million Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas this week. The Gunners last night received an improved £34million bid from Barcelona for club captain Fabregas. And Manchester United are also ready to make their move for Nasri with a view to sealing a deal before pre-season training begins next week. Arsenal could find it hard to resist a £20million offer for a player in the final year of his contract at the Emirates. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has already made it clear Nasri will not be allowed to run his contract down and leave on a free as midfielder Mathieu Flamini did three years ago. Wenger has been trying to persuade Nasri that the club’s six-year spell without trophies will come to an end next season. But any success is unlikely to feature Fabregas, as Barcelona last night made an improved £34m bid for the Gunners skipper. And United are still understood to be confident of landing a second body blow on their title rivals by spiriting away 24-year-old Nasri.
In other news, Sir Alex is be made a doctor of the University of Stirling today (Wednesday) for his "outstanding contribution" to sport.
Do you think we are just shit stirring or the fact that its on the official website mean there must be something in it?
Fair enough, but why would they post up a story about Nasri on the official website if there was nothing in it?
