Nasri To City - Done Deal!

I still reckon Arsenal will pay him a substantial signing on fee, and keep his salary within a wage structure (if it exists). Or break the wage structure, pay what he wants to keep him out of our grasp, then sell him for around £35 million if he still want to move.

That's assuming it's all about the money from his side. If he's thinking about his career and thinks Arsenal isn't the best place to continue it, he won't be signing anything.

He'd have to inform the club three weeks after the last game of the league season at the latest. Which means that if he wants to do it, he has to make the decision this weekend.

But he won't do it.

He has to inform the club about his intentions in the 15 days after the last game of the season.

Lots of players do this though, if they want out. Than the current club will take any deal that is higher than the buyout.

I don't think he'll do this. And i hope he wont.

True. However, noises coming out from his camp is they are still negotiating. Which indicates it's about money.

Then he's already late if he hasn't indicated his desire to leave yet. It doesn't seem like he has.

We wouldnt know about it, I think. This is a commonly used negation tool.

Probably not that common at the biggest clubs though.

Nasri isn't that much of a tóthnorbi, I'm certain.

Has the update to the thread title been prompted by a comment from Wenger since last night, or is it the quote from a few days ago?

If they refuse to sell to us, they'll never get another United player like Silvestre from us!

One good thing could come out of this Nasri story, which is that it looks likely that we will be getting at least 4 new players this summer. I thought with Young coming in that he could be the only midfielder coming in, but with the Nasri speculation, it looks likely another midfielder in the Nasri position will be coming in whether it be Nasri or someone else.

Erm.... so because we're being linked with someone means we're definitely going to sign someone else?

Well it means we're after a player of that type and will try to get one. whether we find a viable transfer is another matter I suppose!

Again... so because we're being linked with someone means we're definitely going to sign someone else?

Yes but we're linked with Modric and Sneijder aswell so that means at least 2 more players, in addition to the other player we'll be signing because we're linked to Nasri.

No, like I said depends on finding a player that is happy to come, good enough to play for us and a club that doesn't want a stupid fee.

Clearly SAF is after a CM, especially if our interest in Nasri is real and it's certainly looks that way to me.

If United had agreed a deal with Nasri then Wenger would be a big fool not to let him go. He'll leave for free next season.

It's the one from a week back. I thought it was more representative for the saga than the Nasri one, so I switched.

I just don't believe it for one second, no way will Nasri be coming to United. Arsenal/Wenger won't allow it, and United would know that.

If there is interest from United/Nasri in the deal - United should be trying to get it done ASAP. Don't let it drag out for the summer, either get it done quickly or move on. I would hate for us to miss out on other targets over the summer cause we are waiting patiently for the issue to resolve itself on August 31st (like Berbatov)

Not sure why the change. A lot can change in a week. Besides, you never expect a manager to invite offers for his best player. Fergie wasn't supposed to sell Madrid a virus last I heard.

The BBC headline right now is the most credible thing which suggests things are very much up in the air.

"But, yes, if you have come to ask me about the situations of Reyes and Cesc, I can answer you that they are not for sale.

"No offer for these players has arrived at Arsenal. They will stay here for next season."

Arséne Wenger in August 2006. Three weeks later Reyes was at Real Madrid. Admittedly, he wasn't sold, only loaned out but that's beside the point.

Still can't see Nasri coming here, mind you.

The more I see these kinds of goals the more I would absolutely love him at United

Arsenal are closing in on Gervinho. I believe the dragging out bit has to do with Fabregas' negotiation with Barca, which could generate enough money to splash on Hazard and, a Samba. Samba being speculations, though. At this point, we start mounting pressure on Arsenal. Patience, is virtue.

Rodwell will sign.

Maybe. When it comes to stopping us from getting mugged by other clubs, David Gill is a complete failure at his job - point blank. But this deserves its own thread and is nothing to do with Samir Nasri.
Doesn't deserve it's own thread at all. It makes no sense. Especially coming from one who has little knowledge of these things.

Anyway, back to Nasri....
