Nasri To City - Done Deal!

Not many, but Villa haven't been doing too well this season.

Indeed they haven't. Which makes Young's 9 goals and 14 assists all the more impressive.

The problem with discussing a lot of these potential signings is that most of us haven't watched them, other than on MOTD highlights or against us/our rivals, when the team they play for is inevitably on the back foot. Which is where stats come do in handy. It's always best to watch a player in as many games as possible to form an accurate opinion. Failing that, stats are invaluable.

Most people have watched Young on and off for about 4/5 years, he's a good player but not top class and at 25 unlikely to make significant improvement. And he's probably the worst diver in the league.

Valencia has done what a good but not top class player would be expected to do in a good team, Young will be as successful but when push comes to shove at the top level he'll be found wanting.

Valencia has been twice the player Walcott has to be fair..

Young looks decent and at 25 is soon approaching his peak. Have a feeling his signing will be another good one from Sir Alex, giving us plenty more options going forward and another English lad within the squad.

He he Nasri wants to join us, can't blame him. It probably won't happen this summer but who knows - maybe next?

It's not a very interesting comparison since Walcott is a forward playing wide rather than a winger and he's 22 with Valencia four years older.

Yep, he's been pretty crap and one nice hit against the Swiss doesn't change that.

think in at least the last 3 matches for England, he has been very good.

I will accept your point that any player just does not acquire new skils just because he plays for a better team, but when a player plays with excellent footballers and has the benefit of superb coaching and management, they fulfill their potential.

Young has always shown he has ability and vision.

I expect him to be a superb buy for us.

This one from a week back is the key for me:

"One thing's for sure: we're not selling him to Manchester United," Wenger told the French radio station RTL. "Are we still in discussions with Nasri? Yes, but we are still in disagreement over the financial contract on offer, which we haven't settled. We are trying to extend his deal."

This is why your club wins nothing Pete. You still harp on about these youngsters of yours who really aren't that young anymore..

Perhaps if you purchased players like Young and Valencia you might win something?

What a useless argument. Assists are a deceptive stat. Nasri has been much better than Young this season.

Yes, and he is an infinitely more talented player. I cannot fathom why anyone would try to argue otherwise.

Yes. I reckon a few people spotted him at Manc Airport.

They might not...but we're making our move.

it all depends on the player tbh. If Fergie convinces him (all speculation of course) that United is the place to be, and the players says he is not going anywhere but United, Arsenal will do the business. They will not want to depreciate their asset any further.

You are sounding very scouser like there. If Arsenal dont want to sell him to us then they don't have to. They can sell him to a foreign club at a cheaper price if they want. Which is why I say there is exactly zero chance of Nasri at United this summer (if we are even interested).

We didn't exactly roll over when Heinze wanted to go to Liverpool.

Best option of all is that he runs down his contract and joins us next year. Doesn't seem likely but would be hilarious and brilliant.

with regards to the Heinze deal, there was a clause in the contract about moving to another English club I think. Not sure if this applies to Nasri. But in the end, this will be just business. We have done business in the past with Arsenal and will again in the future.

There is not that level of animosity between us and the gunners as there is with Liverpool.

A lot of 'ifs' but if we're interested and Nasri is determined to leave, I cannot imagine that Wenger would be willing to lose the £10 - £15 million and let him walk for nothing next season, regardless of the 'noises'. He's the most frugal man in sport!

doubt he will do that. That would really be a terrible way to treat Wenger and the club. They have invested in him and he will not pay them back in such a way.

But he can hold firm..where ever he wants to go.

In this day and age, you'd expect at least one person to take a photo and post it on the web if Nasri really was in Manchester.

I don't really get that Red Dreams. I don't see it as that disrespectful not to sign a new contract if you have no intention of honouring it. Yes, it would be tough on Arsenal, but it's their fault for not competing for trophies. If one of our players did it, I'd see it as a bit stupid because there isn't an obvious step up unless you fancy getting into the Barca team, but at Arsenal, there can't be much argument.

Arsenal won't give Nasri the chance to run his contract down. That would be negligent in the extreme. He'll sign a new contract or be sold this summer. If the player digs his heels in about which clubs he will and won't sign for this whole saga could get very interesting.
