Nasri To City - Done Deal!

See below. When I say he's shown he can play there, i'm talking about his attributes and how they're clearly suited to a central role.

Its funny. People are asking the same questions about him, yet his road to success in this is so similar to that of Modric. Didnt Luka start out wide left also? :smirk:Its uncanny.

I also think that people are going overboard on saying weve no chance in getting him. If the boy wants to play for us and we want to sign him, he'll be wearing a United shirt next season, its that simple.

So basically hes proven he can play there via what you see in his game and not via what hes done on the pitch.

Fantastic, thats put my mind totally at ease.

fecking hell, this transfer window is absolutely awesome(I'm aware that the move will in most probability not go through)

So wed drop him in the big games? pretty pointless signing him as our scholes replacement then isnt it seeing as hed not fit in the games that matter?

Look im not trying to be argumentative i just dont see Nasri as the guy to replace Scholes, Modric on the other hand is a far better fit in my view.

feck sake, stop putting words in my mouth here. I never mentioned Modric. Your question was whether Nasri could play in a 4-4-2 at our team.

I ask again. Would Nasri-Carrick be any less capable than Giggs-Carrick was?

He can play in a 4-4-2 just like Giggs did, no doubt. and he CAN play in a 4-3-3 when we play big games, ergo he can play in every single game we play bar none.

This has zero chance of going through.

He has 12 months left - he can force a transfer through but not to us and all he wants is more money.

People said the same thing about Modric. Nasri clearly has the abilties to fulfill the role.

Good point but Modric (and maybe this is a result of his lack of goals) seems more of a holder and a dictator in midfield, Nasri on the other hand (and this may be because of Wenger shoving him out wide whenever Fabregas is available) seems more someone who likes to play in the attacking third

Personally I think we need someone who can run the midfield area and I'm not sure Nasri can do this

Did you not even read what I posted before? He's played in central roles for Arsenal and France and been a success. You're a fool if you think the likes of Anderson and Lucas can play in a 4-4-2 but someone as technically gifted as Nasri cant. If you cant see that, then you should probably find a new hobby.

I'd like to know why you'd take an older, less mobile Sneijder at double the price though.

But didnt Giggs/Carrick ultimately show they weren't good enough at the level we want to aspire to? does the fact in your view nasri CAN play in a 2 man midfield (still something ive never seen him do once) mean hes better equipped than someone's whos flourished there for years?

Also, if we're signing Young along with the likes of Nani/Valencia/Rooney/Hernandez etc where does Nasri fit into a 4-3-3? who drops out?

Biggest shock transfer ever?

Can't think of a bigger one anyway.

This latest rumour is almost certainly a tissue of lies though. Goddamit I fecking hate twitter with a passion.

I think Twitter is just creating the illusion of this being an ultra busy transfer window. In reality, it's the same as normal.

Also, would this be that shocking?

Campbell to Arse?
Figo to Madrid?

Is this Arshavin's real account?

RealArshavin Andrey Arshavin
Was there ever a cartoon called Samir the Snake?

edit: no, it's not apparently. Nevermind.

Soliuss, wherever thou art - you know what you have to do. You know what you have to do.

for me, ando was a massive shock because i really rated the lad. I saw all of the 2005 u17 world cup (he won the golden ball in that tourney) and he was great in it.......and then for us to come in 2 years later out of the blue and sign him on the same day as nani. Nani was atleast linked to us....i didn't hear any ando links until the day we signed him.

For me, nasri wouldn't be as shocking as ando....but then again twitter wasn't around for ando so perhaps it isn't a fair comparison.

Poor old Arsene. He must feel like someone who's taken years to build a matchstick model of the Eiffel Tower, only for a cat's fart to blow it to bits.

Thats kind of a redundant point seeing as you dont have to be a technical magician to play in centre midfield in the first place as well as the fact Lucas and Anderson have been deployed in 2 man midfield's at younger ages, Nasri still isnt, and those games were in 3 man midfields your referring to btw, why does he never get picked to play in a 2 man midfield by any manager he works under?

Ill ask you again, whens he flourished in a midfield 2 at either club or international level??

 One of the strikers obviously. You know what a 4-3-3 is, don't you?

So hang on, let's just get this straight ok. You asked if he can play 4-4-2, I said he could, you had no response, instead you ask if he can play 4-4-2 against one of the great club sides of all time.

And again, when did I say he was better equipped than someone 'who has flourished there for years'? Pray, do tell. Do you want to just write my posts for me now?

Little bit of momentum behind this at the moment, fuelled primarily by Twitter, but most interestingly by actual agents etc.

Also, Nasri said on his official twitter don't believe the rumours but he will inform people if something was to happen.

So what that suggests is, something is going to happen. Which indicates this is possibly on the cards.

I'm not really saying anything new, but there is certainly a wind behind this.

Let's just hope it isn't flatulence.

Something is definitely going to happen: he'll either sign a new contract or leave. Won't run down his contract next season, of that I'm convinced.

Are people forgetting Wenger making it clear Nasri would not be allowed to leave for United?

The guy might be a bottler but he's a stubborn cnut and he knows it would suicide to sanction this.

They'll take a hit on the transfer fee to move him elsewhere if necessary and I don't think they'll need to as there will be plenty of interest.

If Nasri wants to go to United, there's feck all he can do in practice.

He can keep an unhappy player (no point) and risk losing him on a free to a rival just a year down the line (very un-Wenger like). Or he can get some decent cash for him.

I don't think anything will eventuate. Sometimes I wonder where these random people and there sources come up with these stories and how they are sometimes accurate. Hope its true anyway. Will improve our first team and will be good next to Carrick in the central midfield role.

Don't know about that. But he represents Rodwell, Tunnicliffe and other players.

Has he ever accurately predicted a transfer before it reached the mainstream press?

What pisses me off about Twitter is that even the people who might genuinely be "ITK" don't hesitate to pass on completely fictitious rumours, so it's impossible to take anything any of them say seriously.

He's not going to go anywhere though, just negotiating a higher contract.

I find this transfer almost impossible, of course it could happen, but the chances are absolutely minimal.

Or he can offer him around and wait for the likes of Milan or Inter to pounce.

I don't think Nasri is determined to go to United at all costs, even if (a massive if) he does actually want out of Arsenal.

Nasri surely must realize that at Madrid or Barca he would be rotated a lot more.

His only choice besides united to win trophies would be to go to Milan or Inter.

Perhaps he really likes english football?

Ah, roll on sept 1.

Tbh mate, that's the first time he has actually tweeted stuff like this. Most of the time he tweets about his clients's contracts and other stuff.
