Nasri To City - Done Deal!

Why?? They beat every team that plays different to them.

The players in the academy grow up learning that as the way to play football and that it should be the way everyone plays. They would prefer Real play that way than the way they did in the semi finals. They are confident they can beat anyone anyway.

This is all just a ploy by Nasri's agent to get the upper hand in contract negotiations. But it would be a huge statement of intent if get Nasri from Arsenal.

We and Arsenal are not rivals. Its not the same as with us and Liverpool

You can be sure they wont let him go to Spurs or Chelsea - unless it was a player swap. But us? We'll have to see. Its a lot more of a possibility although still unlikely

We are rivals, if nothing else title rivals.

and who will sign the contract for nasri? Heinze? You don't have to sign anything...it's not the mafia holding a gun to your head...at the end of the day you can't make anyone sign a contract. What can arsenal do? You rarely see teams keep a player and not play him for a season...it's the last thing Arsenal need.

Don't really know what you're getting at here.

Ploy he's got a year left don't think they need much ploys it's in their court he either wants to stay of he doesn't mind playing else where and by the sounds of it the latter seems to be the case.

What i'm saying is it's down to the player. A club have have a preference who to sell you to, but it comes down to the player at the end of the day

He can still scare them to get even more money.

Still going. Everyone be realistic. What percentage chance do any of you give this deal to happen?

I would be as low as 5%. That is being generous.

I would not be surprised at all if he leaves Arse. But Spain will be his destination if he does

If Ashley Cole can move to Chelsea don't see why Nasri can't move to us. Like someone already said we haven't got that type of rivalry. Vieira was a realistic target at one point in his career too.

Can't see us getting him at all.

He'll cost big, and if we're going to spend big, surely Modric should be the first option?

Can't see there being that much of a price difference between the two.

 HUH

Care to elaborate?

In his last year of contract and not seeming to want to sign a new one immediately, whereas Modric is at the mercy of Levy with a fair few years left on his.

I wonder what Arsenal would consider an offer too good to refuse, even from United...

I didn't know he was in his last year. Could have sworn he signed a new deal around January time... oh well!

I wouldn't say no to him at all, just don't see it happening.

Yes it does all seem a bit unlikely, but he made some comments earlier today and we've all gone a bit Muppet Treasure Island since.

When's the last time if ever have we signed a player directly from Arsenal?

was it ian ure

Yeah, I saw what he said. Could be a ploy to get City interested for all we know. They like to try and go for people who are "linked" with us.

Going to be a long summer.

To a certain extent, but if a club flat out don't want to sell to you they won't. Arsenal selling us one of their best players is them basically conceding to being a second rate team in the league, which would ruin them at this point in time.

He's most likely going to end up signing a new deal, it would be foolish on Arsenal's part to let him go, especkally as they will have to sell Fabregas in the near future.

But as I already said, if he decides to move, both him and Wenger will likely prefer a move abroad, and to be honet I cannot see Nasri having much trouble attracting top European sides who would be willing to meet his wage demands.

He would be a great signing but he is even less realistic than Sneijder and Modric.

If Arsenal refused to sell, then nasri and united could wait....because at the end of the day, Arsenal don't automatically have to sell for him to play for United. He could decide to leave on a free...I don't understand why people are finding the idea of a free transfer hard to grasp? No one said he would have to sign this summer. It's not all or nothing this summer.

If we are interested we might even suggest he be paitent while we sign others and pick him up afterwards. It depends if we are interested and what our strategy is

what you say can happen. But that would be Nasri leaving the club in very bad circumstances.

Also if he did not sign, the club could 'punish' him by just having him in the reserves, which will destroy his carrier. Furthermore, even if he played in the first team, what sort of performances can Arsenal expect.

Too many reasons for such a strategy not to work.

Arsenal (and most teams for that matter) will not "punish" players by keeping them in the reserves. You are talking about multi-million dollar investments/assets here, not some lowly employee you wish to make an example of for his tardiness or poor attitude.

As shown by Anelka, Henry, Adebayor etc, Wenger will not keep an unhappy star player at all cost. His supposed "refusal" to sell to United is just fighting talk to keep the price up, in case we show real interest in getting him.

If it ever came to selling Nasri, I'm sure they'd rather sell him abroad than a local rival if they had the choice. But you don't always have that option available.

If he goes they are talking about 10 mill - so 20 if we want him no doubt.

I am in agreement. though, the 'punish' stick is waived a bit. Think even SAF said the same about the Ronaldo situation at one time.

If I were to bet, I would say he gets more money and stays.

Wenger has said he wont sell to us.

IF they cannot work this out with him, he will go to Europe.

...

So that is how he is like enh? We sold Silverstre to him, time to reciprocrate the favor and put all the rivalry somewhere. Where will they be if we had not given them permission to take Mikaël? Fecking nowhere that is.
I consider Nasri and Silverstre to be very similar and have a lot in common too.

you are not serious right :)

think Arsenal helped a player who was not getting games as a good back up for them.

Nasri is top player..probably their best this last season.

Storm in a teacup imo. He will stay.

Also think the players Fergie wants have all been identified and its a matter of negotiations.

I am sorry but where has he been playing all this time? United States?

if some people here still pinning their hopes he would sign for us, dream on....

Nasri would do well with Milan. 3 man midfield anchored by Van Bommel, box to box work done by Boateng with Nasri being the playmaker.

I've seen stranger things happen. But I'm not sure if I actually want to see it happen, even if the rumours had any truth to them.

Nasri wants 110k a week, Arsenal only want to give him 90k

Nasri tells the press he would consider joining utd

Arsenal end up giving Nasri 100k a week, all ends happily

End of Story.

I really would like us to sign Nasri, but I can't see this as anything other than a negotiating ploy. The one thing that could swing his feelings is if he sees United as a greater chance of winning trophies. It all depends on whether he'll be satisfied with the extra 20k as opposed to winning things...

But at United surely he'd get both 20k more and win stuff...no?
