Nasri To City - Done Deal!

But at United surely he'd get both 20k more and win stuff...no?

Well yeah. But what I was getting at is that he may be content to stay at Arsenal providing that he's financially satisfied. The only way he'll move to us is if he is genuinely interested in winning things; you'd hope that would be the case.

I'm personally in the (who knows camp) but we are all capable of individual thought.....this could be a lot of things. In life, you just don't know.....He could wait for us to make an offer that does not come and then sign his contract...and then people will say told you so...but honestly, no one knows...it don't matter if other people have done it in the past. Everyones got their own motives....If we sign him and we get a ton of guys saying 'i didn't see that coming' again like many always do, I think i'll punch my monitor

Nasri to United is an interesting option. He's the type of player we could use. If he comes, Obertan is done. He is the right ages and is proven in the premier league. Having said that, Arsenal would be stupid to sell him to us. Wenger would prefer to keep him against his will and loan him out rather than sell him to us. I don't see it happening and I wouldn't be arsed if it didn't... nor would I be too happy and laugh at Arsenal fans if it does...... ok maybe a LITTLE bit.

I'm not sure where he'll play if he comes to us. I don't doubt his ability, but I just think he's too lightweight in centre midfield and just goes missing in big games. Best bet would be to play him on the left wing, cutting in but then where do we put Nani/Valencia both of whom are better wingers than him?

have you ever watched Nasri? He's very good in the tackle and defending/pressuring. He's dispossessed quality opposition countless times when man marking.

Both of them? Have you seen nasri play in the center? Thats a genuine question, im not patronosing you. Nasri has played in a DM role for the goons, too.

Of course i've seen Nasri play Alex, what kind of stupid question is that. Mac, i've never seen him play DM. I wasn't aware he ever did play that position for Arsenal.....

A midfield combo of Nasri - Anderson simply would not work. Sure both of them can put a foot in if required but neither of them are defensive players. You need someone that will take on the responsibily of holding position when we're attacking. To be honest I doubt Nasri's capability of playing in a 442 at all. When he's at his best for Arsenal he's playing centrally but has Song and Wilshere nehind him offering up some protection.

As someone has just pointed out, one of the many reasons you should treat the 'Nasri to Manchester United' rumours with a great big dollop of caution is that he and Paddy Evra f*cking hate each other.

Still, Evra did say last month that if the 'Little Prince' wants to become king then he should move to Old Trafford.

Hehe

We regularly played Giggs in a 4-4-1-1/4-4-2 this season... I doubt that Nasri would contribute less to defending than Giggs.

But it won't happen anyway, they're not selling him to us.

Nasri and Evra didn't seem to hate each other in the tunnel at the emirates pre Arsenal game. They seemed like best mates infact.

Good point re Giggs but Giggs can be quite disciplined in that role. I've never seen anything from Nasri to suggest he would be...

His name has been mentioned a lot since he won that award the other week. His name was barely ever mentioned before then in the main forums. I wonder how many people are saying things like this based on the fact he won that award rather than actually watching him play....

Nasri has in some games been employed by Wenger as a second holding player behind Fabregas. He can definetely play in midfield ala Giggs. It's just at Arsenal he has a manager who doesn't really care if his wide men track back. So on can get the impression Nasri is lazy with defensive duties and lacks discipline.

That says more about the main forums then anything else....Lots of people are aware of him but too many don't pay attention to our youth players. If you mention them getting opportunities you usually get ridiculed more often then not. The problem is in the attitudes of alot of people not in the youth players themselves which is a pity. The fact is his names should be mentioned. Why not? Unfortunately, there's not much common sense about.

In fairness though unless a player is truly exceptional like Giggs, Messi, Wilshire etc...they usually benefit from a loan spell or two to get ready for the first team when they hit their early 20's. I know Wilshire had one but he had it at 17. I think Tom Cleverley is a good example of how to build a youth product into a first team player.

Yes, it should. As one for the future. The next step for him is to play regular reserve team football.

I've seen him play centrally for Arsenal but in the Fabregas position. I don't think i've seen him play centrally with Fabregas or if I did I wasn't paying too much attention.

I think it's more to do with the fact that he was one of the stars of our FA Youth Cup winning campaign, plus he's a local lad and everyone has high hopes for him.

Hmmm maybe. It just seems like typical caf behaviour to me. I've seen a number of people already stating he should just jump into the first team.

Definitely. Does he have the mentality to go through a potential shitstorm like Rooney did, without it affecting his game?

There won't be a shitstorm. The shitstorm with Rooney was because of who it was, not what he was doing.

Look at how comparatively little Tevez gets any media attention for constantly "doing a Rooney". The English media don't care about foreign players.

Hmmm... That's not actually what he said now, is it?

Ferdinand simply said that the French "have a history of good players here" and then mentioned Cantona and Desailly. But in no way did he compare Nasri to Cantona.

Poor journalism at its best...

Rio on twitter:
My quotes about Samir Nasri are not recent(not that the papers let u know this)I spoke about him was waaaaay before any speculation started.

How fecking easy is it to be a journo? If you don't have any recent quotes to make a story, you just find some old ones and make them fit. Brilliant.

Would be funny as feck if we signed him, just to piss Arsenal, Arsene and the gooner fans off.

Still looks like a lesbian though.

This is one of those rumours which I thought would die off quickly, but not so it seems. I'm still not sure he's the one I'd want to see at United. Good player when he has the ball, but not so good without it.
