Nani | Contract & Transfer talk

Nani continues to be one of my favourite players. Football at its finest is about skill and technique. My first football hero was Best and I continue to look for players that can make defenders look foolish and Nani has that ability. Yes it is important to have hard workers, those who "put in a shift" but I love to watch the skill players.

Glad that he's doing well at sporting, hopefully he carries his form till end of this season and comes back to us.

I'm amazed at the patience of some people. He is no doubt an immense talent but I think he benefits form the slower pace i.e more time to make decisions there. I don't imagine if he returned he would be anything different to what's happened before. He's always being woefully inconsistent and if by 27 he hasn't weeded that out of himself, he never will.

Much as I like the lad and felt he was hard done by by the match going fans at times, he's done at United. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

Love Nani. Always. I hope he cant maintain this form. If he does that and can stay fit, then next season he can compete with Adnan for the starting line up.
We need 4 players to cover the ST/CAM/Wide players roles.
If we are in Europe next year, we will need 8.
Rvp, Falcao, Rooney, Mata, Di Maria, Januzaj, Nani, Valencia.

falcao
di maria mata nani

rvp
januzaj mata valencia

Agreed that it would be good if we could get a fee for him and more importantly, free up the money we're paying for his wages. Think he's at the right place though and suspect he might regress if he comes back here. But pleased for him personally that he's doing well and hopefully that continues.

Good thing for him is that he looks to be fit all the time for Sporting since start of the season, something he couldn't manage in last two years. Playing all the time without being thrown in random competitive games only to end up on the stands for next month is probably one of the main reasons, along with playing in less physical league. Anyway, glad he is doing well. Even though I am his fan, I don't think he'll be here next year even if he continues his form for a season, but I hope he ends up in good club.

I hope he does well enough to earn us anything from ten million pounds and the same goes for Hernandez and Zaha. If we can get a significant figure from those three we could fund the purchase of a top class CB/CM, we'd need. Obviously we will buy a wide forward and possibly lose Mata as I don't see him staying to warm the bench. Anyway it's good that he is enjoying his football again and hopefully it will continue.

Glad he's doing well but I think the ship has sailed, if he keeps his current form we can get a nice fee for him. Perhaps we can use him to get Carvalho.

I had assumed that his problem with Utd was just that he couldn't stay fit. This loan makes that look untrue (so far, knock on wood). And that he'd be gone for so long with what looked like a minor injury.

I don't think he'll be at Utd next year either. The fans are weird about him.

His career is well and truly over here. This move back to Sporting Lisbon is purely shop window.

Think so too. Our games are always full of scouts.

I agree he should not return. Our match-going fans will turn against him at the slightest opportunity.

I think this was the whole purpose of the loan, myself. I can see us having to do something similar with Fellaini to minimise our losses.

At the end of the season, we should compare Nanis performances to Valencias

However, to make it fair, we will divide Nani's figures by 5

I hate watching players who try to be like those skill full players but just aren't good enough. i.e Nani.

Yes, at times he pulls of something that leaves your jaw dropped but he'll follow it up by a shot which lands in Row Z. He is the most frustrating United player I've seen in a long time. Players of his type only belong in a top club if they are really good.

He should definitely be in a bigger club at this stage of his career. I think there will be some offer coming from italian or spanish club, or one of the clubs that plays in the CL from russia/turkey.

I think his market value should be somewhere in the region of €10m.

Valencia has a very different role with us now it seems, so perhaps we can finally give that whole tiresome debate a rest. Really glad to see Nani doing well. It's what trust and confidence will do for you.

I would have Nani back. Him with Di Maria both running at pace at defenders could devastate teams. I think some fans are a bit harsh on him. Hee's barely played a run of games in two years. A few seasons back he was our best player for a whole season. People tend to forget that. I would keep him over Young and Valencia. Delighted he's doing well on loan.

I had issue with his drive, and motivation to do well for us. No doubting the talent as a creative outlet and the ability to change a game so quickly and the odd big-game crucial goal/assist. However, there were far too many games where he was not only poor but a liability through poor passing/positioning. Would love to see him come back and turn it around but doubt it.

He along with Valencia (if that midfield role he played against Everton does not work out), and Young should be moved on. They haven't cut it. Yes Valencia and Nani have given us some great performances but it has not been consistent enough in the past (save their best seasons of course) or in the present.

Didn't Robben go through a rough patch while at Madrid? Now look at him. 30 and not slowing down a bit and actually improving.

I rate Nani's raw attributes as just as good as Robben. And only a few years ago Nani was pretty much at Robben's level.

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that Nani returns to his devastating best.

Well I just hope. Like someone else mentioned earlier here watching a player that makes defenders look like fools is as good as it gets in football.

He has always been a good player, a little bit inconsistent, but always a good player, was great for us for several seasons, 07, 10, 11. Suffered the retirement of and the start of the statistic-based judgment of football players.

Would be fantastic if we were to make the deal permanent ;)...sadly that will never happen

Shame he's not here. We should have loaned out Young. Wouldn't Nani likely start against Chelsea and Citeh, since we can then pack the midfield a bit more and still have some threat on the break:

-----------Falcao------------
DiMaria---Herrera-----Nani
------Blind----Carrick-----

Those Nani gifs  Good news on Carvalho returning to form. He always plays well against Porto. Must be his favourite team to play against.

Nani gets a load of stick from fans but I'd rather have players like him who try to create chances than players who hide in plain sight. it might look ugly when it goes wrong as it can do with Nani but you can never accuse him of not trying.

Lets hope he plays like that vs Schalke aswell both him and Nani are key players in this team and a win in Germany would do wonders for Sporting's confidence ...just imagine a win away vs Porto followed by a win In Germany:drool:

could have done with him coming on instead of Young. Or even playing instead of Mata/Januzaj

Patience of some people in this thread is simply unbelievable.

It's quite something isn't it. Just a couple posts above it says we'd be much better off with him rather than Januzaj and Mata.

Bless the internet for its allowance of opinions that provide embarrassment by association.
