Name the three positions we need to cover ASAP

Lwb, centre mid and 10. All three need high energy, pace, physicality. Cm just needs to be able to bring more than eriksen or casemiro coming off the bench and would let us move casemiro on this window. 10 is just to provide another option starting or off the bench and again needs to be able to cover ground to support the striker, carry the ball and run in behind to complement Bruno or to impact off the bench.

You have to get the world class striker. It takes the pressure off everyone, instantly. Imagine if we had got Kane? Thats 25 to 35 goals banked. Games that we lose, we draw, games we would have drawn we win.

Osimhen has to be the first signing. He is world class and by far the best player on the market. He can score, he can assist.

Wing backs are no where near as difficult to sign as a WC striker. Get the hardest done first.

100% this. No sure about Timber but CM is 4th priority for sure (Mainoo's position)

I think we need someone who can play both as a 6 and an 8 to provide cover for Mainoo or Ugarte. In fact, I’d argue that a backup 6 should be more of a priority. If Ugarte isn’t available, we lack a similar player to fill that role. On the other hand, if Mainoo is missing, we could potentially move Bruno into the 8 position.

I think a RWB & LWB transform this team.

Dalot & Maz just aren’t good enough going forward. They’re defenders first and foremost.

For this formation to work I think we need two wingbacks who are natural attackers.

United need 3 central midfielder minimum. A controlling playmaker, An attacking midfielder and another defensive mid. They need two strikers, a left back too. They need a right back and one wide player

The club should look to accelerate players from the reserves too. Two or three players of top standards could save the club millions. The midfield is a huge priority. Casemiro and Eriksen should be excommunicated.

I would not completely buy players to accommodate Amorim's tactics. Needs to adapt to what the club gives him. If he gets sacked, the club will be stuck with his signings.

Left back to replace Dalot.. ( somebody attacking like Davis, Nuno Mendes)
A striker
These positions are a must in Jan

You can play Amad as rwb.. ..
The left back area is the problematic area for now
And also striker

LWB and a Striker. Dalot, in time might be a decent back up. I feel like with Mazraoui, it's less of an issue as Amad can move out wide and create that bit of width due to them both being excellent technically.

Top class striker is needed - and it's Gyokeres.

We'd look fairly decent with just those two additions I think.

I had said any attacker in my earlier pair but it’s clearly CF. Our options are rubbish and holding us back because even when we deserve to win, we don’t.

Right now I'd say LWB and Striker are the two positions where we urgently need to strengthen the first XI. Beyond that it's about depth, where CM looks the most urgent priority to me.

LWB - we need someone who can offer genuine width and stretch the opposition.
ST - I like Hojlund and see a lot of promise, but we need goals and we need them instantly.
CM - I think we need another quality player to compete with Mainoo and Ugarte. The drop off when one of them is out is too steep.

If one of the above isn’t possible then another AM player who can score at a good rate is needed.

Actually think we need a RWB more than a LWB. Dalot has it in him to play this role well. Maz is surely solid but I don't think he'll offer much width and can be adequately used as rcb as well

LWB & RWB are the two most priority IMO because we don’t have attacking minded wingback, which is currently downgrading our creativity when we play this 3421 system. We need wingbacks who offer threats to defenders, explosive or creative. Wingers who can play as wingback like Ashley Young or Viktor Moses, OR explosive attacking fullbacks that suit wingback role like Reece James or Hakimi.

The third one is probably either top class striker or midfielder to rotate with Mainoo.
Even after yesterday game, it hasn’t changed my view/my previous post. If anything I’m more convinced that We are desperately need LWB, RWB, and striker for our starting XI. We still need midfielder to rotate with Mainoo though.

The two wing backs and a centre forward. Centre forward likely the position we would notice the most significant difference in if we brought in proper quality.

I think for January, a LWB is essential. In terms of the other positions, I think another option to play at no.10 is important, as is another CM.

I do think we need to get a better no.9 but at the moment we a couple of options there for one position whereas I feel like the drop off from Mainoo/Ugarte or Bruno/Amad is significant. From the no.10 perspective, I think the issue is profile aside from Mount, the other options aren't suited to playing there.

LWB, ST and CAM i would say. Then CM, CB and GK.
This is the correct answer. Need far more quality attacking options (at least two), as well as an actual LWB that can shred defenses with all of the isolations that position gets on the wing. For CM we need another PnP demon that can cover ground and is techincal enough as a passer, but I also think Mainoo/Bruno and Ugarte is good enough if you had the first 3 spots filled with quality that we'd be fine.

Something like

Onana

Dalot Mazraoui Maguire Yoro Mendes

Mainoo/Bruno Ugarte

Amad Gyokeres Cunha/Bruno

Would be a far more threatening side and that's just with 3 quality signings.

Energetic and physical midfielder(s)
Striker who knows how to score goals
Wingback

In that order
I’d also prioritise another defensive midfielder. Given Amorim likes to rotate, I don’t see any other CDM that gives us balance other than Ugarte.

That being said our shape and strength falters without a proper LWB. Fixing these two positions would give us more chances and goals upfront.

Striker would be good but…..although it may never happen, I’d love to see rashford show what Amorim is looking for.

LWB

LW

FC (to support/rotate with Hojlund not replace)

CM, a vibrant ballplayer type that has some physicality who can initiate attacks with strong, pinpoint, accurate balls.

Only three??!!

In order of needs:

CF no explanation required
LWB very short on that side
No10 to add creativity
RWB still not convinced Amad is the long term solution there
No6 to rotate with Mainoo / Ugarte
GK Onana is simply not good enough
