Name the three positions we need to cover ASAP

It surprised me how weak we are on the left hand side of the pitch when analysing our squad.

We arguably need a LCB, a LWB, a LCM & an LAM as soon as possible.

Our right hand side is not so bad and we have some depth in those areas -

* we have decent quality RCB's in Yoro, De Ligt and Maguire but on the left we only have Martinez.
* LWB we literally have no one who is left footed and provide width or a cross.
* LAM - Amad's break out season alongside other outcomes like Rashford leaving has pretty much made Amad the first name on the team sheet but on the left AM position we have rotated Bruno, Garnacho, Mount, Zirkzee & Rashford which shows how much we need an LAM really to nail that spot.

*LCM - Ugarte has a good passing ability but his passing tend to be more plays across to the opposite side of the pitch and because of this you are more likely to see Ugarte played as the RCM than the LCM. Bruno is the most technical & creative player we have in midfield which allows him to both play forward passes aswell as spread passes across to both sides of the pitch.

I dont think its a coincidence that Casemiro & Eriksen were placed at RCM & LCM respectively (aswell as Mainoo at LCM ) - and its why the LCM we target must provide both creativity and the ability to be tenacious in the tackle - like a creative energetic box to box player rather than just a deep lying playmaker. This is why Bruno for me has looked better at LCM than at LAM because he provides both creativity and yet non stop work rate at the same time.

Also, this is personally why i think Mainoo is struggling as an LCM especially when playing next to Ugarte. People seem to think that his creativity is better than his ability to defend but i believe it to be the other way around. Mainoo is actually better at defending than he is at passing because his passes are very simple short passes that keeps the ball rolling. If we are going to use Mainoo, he needs to be used on the right CM as the more defensive player whilst someone at LCM provides the creativity and energy to make up for some of Mainoo's weaknesses.
Good nick, too :)

It's hard to pin down just 3 positions but I'd say probably LWB, AM, CF.

LWB - We just have no one for this role. Shaw would be pretty ideal but he can't stay fit. Dalot is terrible at LWB every time he plays.

AM - Considering we have two positions to fill I think we lack depth here. Bruno doesn't really match the style of player we need. Mount probably does but is never fit. Amad could be decent here long term.

CF - Zirkzee has had a slow start. Hojlund has some potential but is very far from ready and his hold up play has been bad. We need goals in this team.

To be honest I went back and forth between CM and AM. I think when available Ugarte and Mainoo could be decent but we are also massively lacking depth in this area. Maybe if we get an AM Bruno could play deeper to give us more legs in midfield.

Second season syndrome. It's common with youngsters.
Agree plus he played a lot of football, he was excellent against Newcastle and was approaching his best again. Kobbie can not play in Amorim’s system as L10/LAM or R10/AM just yet, he does have the ball dribbling ability and physicality to play in one of these positions, but he lacks pace and both AM/N10’s normally are very quick in Amorim’s system, he likes the wing backs and front 3 all to be quick, he also likes both wing backs to be left footed and the Right 10 to also be left footed .

LWB
CAM
ST

We need two attacking powerhouses in the final third—players who can strike fear into opponents every time they step on the pitch. Matt Murray, while doing punditry during our game against Wolves, admitted he was relieved Rashford wasn’t in the squad. While it’s true that Rashford isn’t at the level he was a couple of years ago, we desperately need someone with that kind of impact. Unfortunately, we don’t have that right now.

On top of that, securing a quality left wing-back is crucial for balance. We need someone capable of consistently getting to the byline and delivering dangerous crosses into the box for our attackers to thrive.

Beyond that, a central midfielder who can operate effectively as both a 6 and an 8 is a must, along with a right wing-back to rotate with Amad. Finally, adding another center-back would bolster the squad’s depth and defensive options.

It's clear we need goals, therefore I would say a striker and two 10's.

As much as I dislike Dalot - I think we can cope if we improve quality up front.

A quality left back. A world class holding midfielder and a striker. Rasmus is too green and needs too many chances to score.

Wingbacks and striker. Almost always forced to go wide and teams know this. Seems we lose most possession because of this isolation and forcing the ball as a result. Would instantly improve our AM/CM partnerships in my opinion

It’s quite obviously a LWB unless Garnacho can miraculously adapt into that role. Equal priority is a striker and we should go all out for Gyokeres or Osimhen.

Onana
Yoro DeLigt Mazraoui
Amad Mainoo Ugarte New WB
Bruno New 10
New ST

I’d also like a more athletic CM to replace Mainoo and use him as rotation for now, but those three positions are our top priority I think.
Spot on

WB: Mendes
10: Cunha
STR: Osimhen/ Gyokeres

CM: Quinten Timber. Physical, athletic, box-to-box. He’s also a fighter and a leader. Wanted by Spurs

If the board stands by Amorim and Amorim persists on playing 343 then a LWB , RWB and striker are the three positions that need to be strengthened.
Exactly, if we weren't trying to play 3421, the ST could of been left behind for now, but seeing how vital was Gyokeres at Sporting, I don't think Amorim can do anything without a quality ST.

Highest priorities would be striker and LWB.
Second highest priority AM and CM.

This would be based on Amad playing RWB in some games, and Dalot in others, so we can postpone investment for that position a bit.

1) Left back - Shaw is always injured and Malacia is not good enough.
2) Center midfield - We have two center midfielders, who used to be great, but now are too slow for the PL (Casemiro + Eriksen), so we need a tall, strong midfielder, who could play next to Mainoo, and who is better than Ugarte.
3) A striker. Zirkzee is not good enough and we have to sell him already. Højlund needs a good striker, he can learn from and "stand in the shadow" from.

I would say cb’s.
Martinez is clearly not the answer there in this system. His weaknesses gets exposed too often and hurts us time and time again. Maguire is a strong mofo but he is, as he always has been, way too slow and sluggish for the football we want to play.
Evans and Lindelöf are not good enough. Shaw is cooked.
It leaves us with Yoro and de Ligt for three positions. And looking at these guys, Yoro is still very young and needs to be eased in. De Ligt is good and in his prime but can be caught flatfooted every now and then. We desperately need strong quick versatile defenders that suits a more forward leaning system. Defenders that can push the team forward. That and another cm that knows how to defend. We are far too reliant on Ugarte.

I’m actually undecided between LWB, CM & AM or in Amorim’s system, LWB, RWB & AM (as we have the Mainoo/Bruno option to play CM).

I still have hope that once we gel better as an attacking unit (and the wingbacks plus the AM’s are key to this in the 3-4-3), someone like Hojlund can step up and score the goals.

Right now:
Both wingbacks (put maz in defence) and a creative striker i.e Cunha/Joao Pedro

Davies, Cunha and a right wingback I probably never heard of. Dorgu?

Long term: replace Bruno with Wirtz. Do whatever it takes.

LWB & RWB are the two most priority IMO because we don’t have attacking minded wingback, which is currently downgrading our creativity when we play this 3421 system. We need wingbacks who offer threats to defenders, explosive or creative. Wingers who can play as wingback like Ashley Young or Viktor Moses, OR explosive attacking fullbacks that suit wingback role like Reece James or Hakimi.

The third one is probably either top class striker or midfielder to rotate with Mainoo.

Both (Bruno & Mainoo) are not world class solution for CM position. Mainoo could be in future, Bruno definitely not. Without this position, we are useless even with Ronaldo, Messi & RvN in their prime as front 3.
It starts to be very frustrating how we buying players around this position but were not able to get someone to this position. Absolutely crucial for us. (or maybe find Anderson somewhere in Brazilian jungle)

Yeah I don’t disagree hence im torn with my decision because we absolutely need a LWB and another good AM. Third choice would probably go to CM, as at least we have Mazz/Dalot who can cover RWB for a year - albeit I would have loved a more attacking option at RWB as well.
