Name the three positions we need to cover ASAP

Onana
Yoro DeLigt Mazraoui
Amad Mainoo Ugarte New WB
Bruno New 10
New ST
Harsh on Hojlund cause I’d like to see him in a functioning team that’s creating chances for him but we 100% need an extra striker.

I’d also like a more athletic CM to replace Mainoo and use him as rotation for now, but those three positions are our top priority I think.

Left wing back, midfielder who can partner Ugarte or Mainoo or play with them in a midfield 3, forward to suit Amorim 's system.

The biggest impacts would be a CF like Osimhen and a left #10 like Cunha. We need goals. We need dribbling and creativity. After them, I'd prioritize depth for Ugarte or a left wing back, but honestly that's not as vital as someone who can rotate Ugarte. Sell Zirkzee, Rashford and Casemiro, bring in Osimhen, Cunha and a midfielder like Hjulmund or someone who can back up Ugarte and things look much better.

Osimhen
Cunha Bruno
Dalot Mainoo Ugarte Amad
Martinez De Ligt Mazraoui
Onana

Hojlund
Garnacho Mount
Malacia Hjulmund Eriksen Antony
Shaw Maguire Yoro
Altay
In the summer then go and get a LWB. Our team performances die the second Ugarte is out though so that's vital, as is fixing the attack in a big way.

LWB- Dalot whilst good enough reliability/availability wise (fitness), he isn't good enough on the left. Shaw is never available and Malacia isn't good enough in the slightest even as a back up. We also have an issue at RWB, Amad seems to be the only viable option soo far based on his performances and Dalot would be the back up option. That would see Mazraoui filling in as one of the RCB options.

CM- Other than Ugarte we don't really have anyone with the required legs to play in an Amorim midfield. We cannot rely on Casemiro or Eriksen to provide the required levels physically and another midfield option would ease pressure on Mainoo to be the second option in there whilst giving him time to adapt to what is needed.

CAM- We have Bruno and maybe Mount who naturally play in that role, but the latter is never available. The other options are all wide men who beyond Amad don't really look suitable in the slightest to play in there.

In the long term, we ideal need a GK, RWB, LCB and a CF. With the CF being a major issue we need to address, but I don't think it can be realistically solved in the January window. Although that could be said about the January window in general as I'm not sure you always get the best options or that we will be able to shift players to release funds to actually make them.

LWB - the system is inherently flawed without one
CM playmaker - we’ve needed this for aeons and I’ve been on about it for over a decade
Any attacker - need not be a CF can also be an AM who helps reinvigorate out attack. I think long term we need a lot of improvement here but in the short term we just need a spark. Someone to have an inspirational impact like Palmer did at Chelsea

I think our defence is alright. It gets criticised a lot and that’s fair much of the time but the real problem area is in moving the ball amidst pressure and creating and scoring. Hence my picks are aimed at bringing the system to life and helping us control, create and score more.

Almost no one saying LCB is absolutely insane, especially in light of the two goals we conceded yesterday. It might be the biggest priority alongside LWB.

I would be tempted to modify the formation slightly into something more like this:

GK
CB CB CB
WB CM CM WB
FW FW FW

We need to change the way we attack, so I'd like to see us move to a system where we have three pacey forwards that are aiming to get behind the opposition's defensive lines. More support for Hojlund, but the trade-off is that he will have to learn how to improve his movement, since we would need players dropping into the hole to occupy spaces, linking up play, etc. An inter-changeable, fluid, attacking trio up top.

To do this, we really need 4 players. Two wingbacks that are intelligent in the attacking aspect of the game, but can also help the midfield by tucking in at times. This means that one of our centre mids along with our wingback can then double up on players, helping both the closing down aspect and breaking through the lines.

Alongside the two wingbacks, we need 2 attackers. One of these could be a more traditional number 9, who could act as the focal point in the middle. Ideally, we want players who are mobile and can play anywhere across that front three to give opponents something to think about. We're too predictable, and we need to improve our unpredictability. 3 forwards plus two wingbacks mean that we can be much more attacking. The trade-off for this is that we need the 3 CBs and 2 CMs to really be on top of locking down those defensive and middle thirds. Mobility is really important for us going forward.

So, my preference is:

Left wing back
Right wing back
Attacker
Attacker

After that, we really need to look at the midfield.

@wolvored a forward a forward and a forward.

Not even kidding either I'd sign three. I would try to sign Borja Sainz from Norwich, Johnathon David from Lille, and Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt. I don't think any of this is going to happen, but these are players that scored goals, and that's something none of our players - except Fernandes and Rashford - do consistently.

Edit: changed to say forward as Borja Sainz plays more from the left, but he's absolutely flying at the minute.

LB, a creative ball carrier in midfield and a striker.

- LB speaks for itself Shaw cannot be relied on
- Creative midfielder who can carry the ball….we’re so desperate on players who can pick up the ball and drive through the middle of the pitch
- Striker - Hojlund is a squad player at best and if we’re honest he’s probably not good enough to lead the line for a club like Leicester never mind United.

This is it. We're badly crippled by those positions.

The only correct answer.

Really 3-4-3 needs binning the most because, among other things, we actually have decent centre backs now for a 4-3-3 or whatever.

We need:-
A menacing, gamechanging wide forward (or 10 if we're staying with this stupid formation)
A mobile central midfielder who can control tempo and occasionally arrive in the box
A full-back (wing-back etc) with a great engine who can play both sides of the game, attack and defence
I kind of wrote it as a quick tongue in cheek answer but I really struggle to make it more concrete when thinking more about it. Maybe 2-4 of our players could function in a title competing team in a few years time, but its not like settled that any position is sorted.

I'd only maybe bank on Amad, Ugarte, Maz and maybe De Ligt. Rest are either huge question marks or too young and unproven. Hopefully Mainoo, Yoro and Højlund (Have to cling on to hope given national bias) can prove themselves.

I want one player, ideally in midfield, like Keane in style, drive, and temperament. A leader who pushes those around him and almost “bullies” younger players into pushing themselves. Do these characters even exist now?

We’ve had a lot of talented players but they all wilt under pressure and their performances collapse as soon as things are not going well.

Why do I have to name them ASAP? I'll bide my time, wolvored!

wingbacks and a central midfielder that is very good and against the ball. Such players are needed independent of currently prefered formation. Fullbacks that carry a threat are needed since years, and a good wide attacker would even be able to stand in for a winger if needed. Thats what I would go for.

The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. There is no other help for this club.

We need playmakers. Fast, agile players who can dribble and press for days and provide goal scoring opportunities. Don’t care what position they play but I’d start with a new #10.

Midfield is where games are won and lost, we have ugarte, mainoo shouldn't be a starter, so two central midfielders and kerkes lwb. I'd be delighted for any additions in Jan.

CM, Striker, LWB

These positions obviously need to be addressed ASAP, but we’ll be lucky if there are incoming players in January.
For the start of next season, we need to have 2 new strikers (release ZZ, but keep Rasmus), 2 new CM’s (replacing Casemiro and Eriksen) and a LB capable of playing LWB.

If we can only get 3 positions then a LWB a RWB and midfielder would transform this team.

Heck even a LWB and a RWB would do that.

Too often Dalot and Maz are miles behind the play, and when we do actually get them up against an isolated fullback they take so long to go at them that they always get people back on the cover.

Probably not possible in January but Mendes, Frimpong and Ederson would drastically change our team.

Onana
DeLigt-Harry-Yoro
Frimpong-Ugarte-Ederson-Mendes
Amad————Bruno
Rasmus
I’d play that till the summer and then look to bring in others in the summer like a LCB, CM, a 10 and a more experienced striker to help Rasmus out.

Anyway getting all those positions let alone the ones I’ve mentioned is probably near impossible. So same positions but different names.
