I wanted bernado silva to be signed now that he is gone I would want one of these players for each positions to be signed :

1.Grizmann ( if we cant sign him then i would say a RW tricky and pace).
2.Icardi/Moratta
3.L.paredes/C.tolisso/Dier/Fabinho
4.Aurier or a quality CB.

I don't know who we'll sign but I suspect we're looking at Dier, Keane, Matuidi level players if we're being realistic. The top ones will be hoovered up this summer by the likes of City, Chelsea, and the bigger continental sides. There will be lots of talk about Griezmann and various big names looking for better deals, but ultimately we are still a team that couldn't do better than 6th in our domestic league and who has a squad which is far from competing with the top sides. Top players will want the best chance of winning things and all of the bigger teams will offer huge wages.

Is this a joke?

Bigger teams... City, Chelsea? Just to be clear this is a Manchester United forum.

So a team that brought in ADM, Pogba, Falcao, and Zlatan with no CL, is now going to struggle to attract the 'top ones' with CL? It's nonsense, we'll buy the top players we want to buy, and if it comes to a bidding war then we'll more than likely come out on top, it'll just take a bit of time like it always does.

I think we will sign most probably 5-

Griezmann -85 million
Belotti/Jamez/morata -60/45 million
Keane- 20 million
Dier-40 million
Bailley type signing who no one has heard of -25 million

Total- 200-230 million spent
MoneyIn- depay(17), schniderlin(22),smalling (15),Rooney,zlatan.

Net spend -155-180 million

Depay and Schneiderlin left in January didn't they ?

I said the bigger continental sides. Manning, quite clearly I thought, the bigger sides of those on the continent......

Anyway, someone else said about how we bought Di Maria, Falcao, etc, but that was when we had little competition for signatures and our status looked like a blip. Now it is just the status quo. Players will have to consider coming here very carefully. Hopefully the EL win will help!

What have city won since Fergie retired?

We're not talking about what clubs have won. City finish higher than us every season now and have a comfortably better squad. Big names will be aware of this. It's one thing to sign for a club in second place who look likely to challenge for the league. It's another thing entirely to sign for a club who struggle to finish in the top 4, have a worse squad than the other contenders and seem to have cemented an upper mid-table position.

I'm not saying this is how it'll stay, or that every player will see it this way but it's something that will be in people's minds.

our priority is attacking positions due to goals/chance conversion being our biggest issue

maybe a strong CB leader and holding midfielder might convince Jose to take the handbrake off a bit though

Ed has had the list for 2 months- let's hope he's made good progress on the targets
Of course, I think Mourinho will try to bring for sure at least two attacking players (a poacher and a second-striker, would be my guess), maybe three (a right-winger).

No one thinks we need an attacking left-back more than a center-back?

I'm still hoping Shaw comes good. Even if we get a left-back, he won't be of the attacking mould. Mourinho likes to keep his full backs in check. Even in the last few months, the likes of TFM, Valencia were subdued in attack.

Totally disagree there, if we're getting a new left-back it will be a very attacking one, like Valencia on the left. For defensive ones, we already have Blind and Darmian.

I think he'll (Jose) want to play Rojo at left back. He normally likes a defensive and attacking full back on either side. If we play a 433, with Pogba on the left, we could do with a defensive left back to cover if/when he get forward.

Rojo has been shite any time he has played left back.

More reason as to why we won't be looking at LB's. We already have Darmian, Blind and possibly Shaw for the position. Mitchell could also play there if he's taken to the US for pre-season. I think the Mendy links is just pure speculation from the journos.

You said all this last summer.

I don't have a clue but I will try.

1.Moussa Dembélé
2.Griezmann
3.Tolisso
4.Bernat

If we buy Perisic, Matuidi, keane and Griezmann then we are ready to fire up 2017/2018!

Marquinhos or defender under the radar not getting linked like Bailly last year
Renato Sanches
Griezman/Bale/Neymar or similar as the biggy
Surprise signing

Bale/Neymar plus surprise? Are you kidding? Both would be big surprises, quite unexpected actually, specially Neymar.

Do people believe City and Chelsea are more attractive than us? We finished 6th but won the EL. We are in CL. We are able to sign anyone financially. We have the best keeper in the world. We managed to sign top players from top leagues under Mou. If anything, we got better than we had been since SAF left. Pep has 0 to show for this season, same applies to Klopp.
P.S. I am sure some of the posters here support opposition teams while pretending to be United fans. The wums amoung these should be banned.

You think that anyone who doesn't think we're the most attractive team is a 'rag' like on Bluemoon?

I do think that most players from abroad ergo are young will see us as being one of a few top PL clubs but they won't see through red-tinted glasses. They will look at our squads, our league finish and how we struggled badly for much of the season.

You know it's gonna be a fun summer when the only target we publicly know about is Griezzy.

It is not about being a rag, but players all over the world as well as their agents would know what happened after SAF and how we have been doing under Mou's first season with us. We have won a European trophy and a domestic cup, while Pep - zilch. We are under transition and have already shown that we can afford to buy any player even during our "dark" spell. Spurs have finished second, City third, but we have done better than them, as we are in CL too, but we have two cups (a small domestic one, and a european one). Pochettino and Pep are yet to prove that they can win something while they are managing a team in England. Players would certainly prefer to play for a team that wins cups rather than finishes in the honorary 2-4th places.

No clue but we need something similar based on the supposed quality of the following names:
1. 25+ goal striker who will fit us post-Mourinho as well since he's definately be 50m+ signing.
2. Mendy
3. Verratti

Griezmann doesn't count since he's already coming.

Anyone else a bit concerned with the fact that we haven't been heavily linked with a proper striker yet? I just don't think Rashford is ready to lead the line yet, even with Griezmann behind him, especially if we want to be challenging for the title next year.

As for the four players, I'll go with: Griezmann, Keane, Bakayoko, Silva

To a degree. Same time I think Martial and Rashford are both wasted out wide and are both strikers. It would depend for me on what happens regarding Ibrahimovic, if he stays he coul dbe back before Christmas and I think we could rely on Martial/Rashford if we have signed a really good attacking player on the left along with a hopefully improving Miki on the right supplying them. If Ibrahimovic is to leave it could be a gamble though not signing one.
Mourinho always seems to like a big strong striker though so I expect a signing for sure there if Ibrahimovic is to leave

My god we're being linked with some underwhelming players at the moment.

Of course not every signing has to be a superstar but they should at least improve us. Peresic and Keane would add nothing.

We are pretty weak in certain areas and are getting linked as per usual with lots of players. Most of them wouldnt be signings I would like even though some of them are top quality. I have to say though the only one I think Really? He actually doesnt improve us at all?" is Keane, dont believe that link at all. Personally I am not for Dier, Bakayako, James Rodriguez, Fabinho and a few others....at the same time, to a degree they would all improve us though, even Perisic I think would add something to the left wing slot, not that I am for the signign at all personally either

From the transfer tweets thread.

Based on media rumours re the four players on Jose's list he's given to Woody.

Keane
Dier
Perisic
Griezeman

Say he gets all four, how would people feel about that as a summer's business?

So you'd say that we have a squad which is as close to City for challenging for the title next season? If we go against them for players this year, they'll win 4 times out of 5 and Chelsea will too. It make me sick because I really think that players should view the club as I do, but they're usually not looking at it that way.

I'd say that there are a few clubs in front of us in the pecking order now, so we need to either move quickly or look at backups.
