I think Dier is better than Fellaini but he's certainly not as good as Herrera and he'd cost an absured amount so what's the point?

But he's expected to play as DM, no? Alongside Herrera, not instead of Herrera.
Although i agree that Dier would be underwhelming, he's English and seems to be a Mourinho type player. I'm not against signing Dier, and think he would be a decent aquisition.
As everybody else I'd prefer Fabinho though.
Let's not judge too early. The Perisic link seems to be at an early enquiry at most (and from what I've seen I quite like him tbh).
I really believe Jose knows the style needs to improve and that he'll buy accordingly.
would take dier in the holding role before Herrera every day of the week, granted Herrera had some fanatastic games in that position but i think hes better as the box to box role closing ppl down,
i think Bailly is better then keane or more promise, But would take Keane over Jones and Smalling defense wise, also they are both injured all the time and Keane is better on the ball then the 2 of them, Rojo expected to be out til around xmas and we dont no how long it will be before hes actually back to any kind of standard, he was good this season but was hardly fantastic before then.

In my mind Herrera is an able deputy and squad player but feel Jose will want an out and out defensive midfielder this summer. Mendy isn't reported to have any deal done yet with City. There's some hope yet.
That's a good side except for the Matuidi/Pogba midfield pairing. Matuidi is a box to box player, not a holder, wouldn't be a good partner for Pogba at all. Also you seem to have us basically buying the French national team there
The fourth would have to be Messi for that to even begin to approach a good window.

Herrera has been our third best player this season, no way he's getting replaced in the starting XI. Matuidi is also far less disciplined than Herrera since he loves to go on attacking runs. Pogba would need to do a lot of covering for him. I just don't see how that would benefit us since Herrera is both a better player than Matuidi and more suited to our current team / partnership with Pogba.
Weigl just broke his ankle so I don't think he's coming

Anyone knows why there has not been any news about Laporte? I think he will dovetail well with Bailly and knows our captain-to-be Ander from their time together in Bilbao. Is he out with an injury?

No. Played this season. Signed a new contract with a big buyout clause, so pretty settled at Bilbao for now. He won't be very old, mid 20's at the end of this contract.

It would work well as a double pivot, as it did in the Euro's. Both attack and defend well. However, if you're looking for someone who will sit in front of the back four, then, as you said, Matuidi is not that player.

They would be decent squad players but we have enough of those. We need player who come in and improve our first 11 instantly. Griezmann, Nainggolan/Fabinho, Mendy, Lukaku is more what i'm hoping for. I like Dier but prefer Fabinho and he would probably cost less.

I think Keane and possibly Perisic would be ok, but we'd need more top class players as well. I'm just not so sure I can see any we'd be likely to get right now. I think Griezmann is going to end like Ramos. Lukaku will probably go to Chelsea, City are buying Monaco, can't imagine Bale going anywhere....just don't see what top players we're likely to sign.

Our only solid links are Griezmann and Perisic. Griezmann said a move to United is a 6/10 on TV a few days before the Europa league final and Mourinho went to Zagreb to talk with Perisic's agent during the World Cup Qualifiers.
Griezmann is probably a done deal so long as Atletico can get a replacement for him (Lacazette and Lyon have both confirmed they are trying to get Lacazette transferred to Atletico). This is dependent on how harsh the transfer ban is that Atletico will be getting.
That's really a 4-4-2. Griezmann already plays so deep as one of Atlético's two forwards…
Besides, thought Rojo was unavailable for a long time, like till new year, so not even for Champions' group stage.
