Nabil Fekir

Are these players like Fekir and Keita really that good? Or are there like average mediocre tier players? I really don't see clubs like Man City, Man Utd, Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern going after players like them. The hyper is ridiculous.
The Keita hype has always been huge. Even prior to the Liverpool links he was touted to be one of the top midfielders. So I'm expecting the worst with regards to him.

How can he fail a medical after playing the whole of last season (or at least a significant part of it) and while being in contention to start for France in the World Cup

If he is already your player you can take the risk. But if you're gonna pay a lot of money to get him it could be a problem.

Seems like maybe the club are getting a second opinion before investing millions in Fekir maybe?

We would’ve pulled out already if it was already known to be a serious problem right?

Wasn't this an open secret? I'm guessing Liverpool wanted a closer look but it just shows there's more to transfers than sitting on the Caf saying I want that one.

Is Shaqiri their back up option? Not a bad backup option but it’s not really the same feel when you add Shaqiri into that front 6 then when you added Fekir.

No doubt. He's injured the same knee twice since his Cruciate injury. Only missed 10 games though.

I'm guessing we have alternative lined up so it's a choice with taking a risk with Fekir or going for someone like Lemar.

Hopefully we can get some sort of discount on the transfer fee.

Surely if you play 2000+ minutes a season you have to be reasonably fit? I can understand playing through one match due to injury like the likes of rooney have done.

That makes sense tbh. But surely this is something they should have made a note of in their early scouting?

It definitely isn't a secret that his injury was a bad one but he hasn't problems to play. Now, knee injuries can have consequences, I remember for example the mention of missing cartilages in the NFL, that information can be used by Liverpool to lower the transfer fee or signing on fee.

It makes sense now why Lyon came out with the statement about no deal being done, they're probably furious with Liverpool for pulling out. Also it make him harder to sell at a decent price to other suitors, complete shambles for them.

huh? How? They would need doctors to properly assess the issue. Scouting can only do so much. I'm sure Liverpool knew about knee issues, but not the full extent, because that's impossible without full medical advice

Not always about fancy names though. When we signed Pogba our fans were estatic and opposition fans were shitting themselves. The lad has done ok but obviously he hasn’t lived up to the hype yet. Then you have Matic, premier league proven. Plenty of us were having a moan(myself included) that this wasn’t a good signing. Fair to say, he has been fantastic. If there is one thing I’ve learned from all this transfer nonsense , don’t judge the name judge the performances in a United shirt. Or in this case, Liverpool .

Clubs dont give you access to that information. Its protected by Medical confidentiality ethics. Only if the player himself tells the potential problem to the third part. Otherwise just during the medical exam you will know.

It's been said that he follows an adjusted training program at Lyon (less volume than everyone else) and has constant pain in his knee. With the emphasis the club has been putting on physicality and Klopp's reputation for high intensity training, I can't see us signing him in that case. Not unless the fee is reduced - that's probably where the disconnect is.

Dodgy right knee?
Up steps Phil Jones in the first United v Liverpool game. Go hard or go home. Welcome to the Premier League.

Tbf Jones would end up doing himself more damage.

More than likely. The PL is one of the toughest leagues and now his soft right knee is being highlighted in the media. You just know there will be self-proclaimed hardmen players from the lower teams, who will attempt a few physical tackles.

It’s all a bit Paul McGrath or Ledley King

If it’s true, Klopps high intensity pressing game probably won’t play very nicely with dirty Fekir’s knee

The Premier League isn't really like that anymore to be honest.

The problem in my opinion will be as somebody mentioned above, the general wear and tear of the pace of the football and whether he'd be able to cope with Klopp's demands. Would Klopp allow one player to go easy on training like say Wenger would do? Not sure.

The reason Liverpool haven't pulled out yet could be a) trying to re-negotiate with Lyon a different price because of this so called drawback (could be very problematic) b) drip feeding the news so it's not a big shock when after the World Cup they try and drop it as gently as they can (maybe with a Plan B in the works to soften the blow) c) not want to detriment Fekir's career by being so open about this medical issue so kind of delaying it and then sweeping it under the carpet when he doesn't sign. b) and c) could work in tandem.

Don't really think this is the right signing for Liverpool. Where will he play ? If Klopp use 4231 to make room for Fekir, it will be a waste of Salah and Mane. If they play 433, Fekir will be wasted in a suicidal midfield 3 with Fabinho, Keita and Fekir.

He can play but doesnt mean his knee is 100%

The medical being positive is 100% not true.
Yeah I'd rather believe the FFF President who just spoke to him than someone who's just speculating on the internet though.

Why have you not signed him yet then despite him doing interviews for LFC TV and media stuff?

There could be a million reasons why and if someone with authority on the subject says that the medical was positive (take that how you want to), then I'll believe it.

I'd rather refrain from speculating about the reason why rather than stating my own opinion as a fact like you just did.

Or he maybe protecting his player. Maybe and just assumption.

Don't think anyone outside knows what's going on but FFF president saying player was positive about medical might be just protecting player.
