So apparently, according to French journalists Liverpool tried to use the results of the medical to drive down the price, and Lyon told them to feck off.

They really are king of transfer banter.

Embarrassing stuff if true but nothing odd for a club like Pool anyway.

The price wasn't even that bad to begin with.

I expect they'll go for Lemar now.

They were all ready to pat themselves on the back for how amazing they are in the transfer market.

I wonder how they can spin this off to make themselves look like the victims like they do in every other situation?

Doesn't this just mean they'll wait 6 months to sign him, briefing anyone who'll listen that he was the only possible player that they could have bought for that position and then the media declare Klopp the winner of all football?

Fair play to the bloke in this thread that broke last night that the deal is off. We've found ourselves a new ITK.

I mean the price was agreed for a fit player, if they find something in the medical then the facts have changed.
If they paid full price for a busted knee or whatever they found then you people would laughing too.

Great news that the deal is off. He is a terrific player, though who knows what they might have found that ruined the deal.

How’s that embarassing? Would you pay the same price for a brand new car or one with a broken window?

not great if a guy's career is at some risk potentially but a stalling in Liverpool building momentum is good.

I will say this, if his medical was actually bad, they wouldn't have negotiated a lower price. It's fair to try to lower the fee but it's also fair to laugh when they are allegedly told to feck off.

Trying to use the medicals to lower the price already agreed with the club already. We actually don't know if he has a real problem or not, as he played the last season in full, going to World Cup and fully expect him to play the next season without problems as well.

He actually missed 4/5 games towards the end of the season due to injury to his knee although Lyon denied it was anything to do with his previous injury.

Imo, if the knee is bad, you walk away. Trying to lower the fee seem like bad faith to me.

Thats not how it works

Of course that’s how it works. Fair enough we tried, and fair enough that they told us to feck off. It’s stupid on our part imo but far from embarassing. And there were obviously issues. It’s not because he’s fit now that there are no issues which could cause problems in the future.

SportsWitness must have had 109 theories about this story over the last week
