Did Potter ask for Winstanley so he can make transfers on his behalf?

I really don't see your logic.

Anyway, I really like your posts and follow you with interest but just don't agree with assumptions like this or yours about Amad and Pellistri re Ole.
I like your posts as well mate but I'm not making assumptions.

Winstanley's job at Brighton was to head the recruitment department which was there to support the first team head coach, Potter.

And Dan Ashworth who was their DoF, appeared on a podcast last year, and he mentioned how himself, Winstanley, Macaulay and Potter, worked together to identify players for Potter's way of playing the game.

Maybe boehly is a fan as well!

The arsenal interest was a bit strange as you've said yourself seeing how they were going to basically pay mad money for someone who was most likely going to be martineli's backup.

Strange choice by arteta.

I think he would have displaced Martinelli but either way didn't make sense to force competition into a position where the incumbent is growing and doing so well.

Frustrating but if I have learnt anything from our recent banter years, its to show discipline in the transfer market. Arteta turned Arsenal around in large part to the players he got rid of rather than the players he signed.

If it was said Chelsea signings are being made by Boehly on the basis of him following other clubs reported interest in players through the media, and that he signs them with minimal input from Potter, I would say I agree.

Potter isnt the boss. He doesn't have the control Pep, Arteta, ETH, Klopp has. He isnt shaping the team to his image and you can tell. There is no process or project.

I'm not disputing their relationship or org structure. I just don't like unsubstantiated assumptions, especially when presented as certainty.

Yeah man, I agree it’s hard. Whatever therapy you need, we are here for you.

May be Arteta highly rated his potential and see him as the next big thing coming. He really wants him and wants him only, but there is always a ceiling how much you can spend.

Shakhtar has been consistent that they want 100m for their player.

I never presented anything as a certainty.

In this thread all I mentioned was that he's 'likely' a Potter signing due to Potter's recruitment chief from Brighton being involved.

And regarding Amad/Pellistri, all I said was that it 'seems' the coaching staff had no intention of developing the player.

I just want to say, I hope Boehly's next shite is a hedgehog. :wenger:

Can’t wait to see him kissing Chelsea badge and saying Chelsea is the biggest club in London after deleting all his posts about Arsenal. What a clown.

 I have been having so much fun in the group chats today.

I'm prime for some ribbing today my friend. In my head I've been balls deep for Mudryk so I'll take what's coming.

Zinchenko's probably the most relieved after the sexual tension going on with his wife in that interview!

It’s a mad amount of money to pay for a 22-year-old with nine career goals in the Ukrainian league. You just have to throw up your hands and shrug. I don’t blame Arsenal for bowing out but the big test for Edu comes now bc we absolutely do need to add players this window.

On Chelsea’s end I don’t think it makes any sense to sign Mudryk and Felix. Their best position in a front three (LW or left inside forward) is the same and it’s also Nkunku’s best position.

Are they offering these players wages above what they're asking to persuade them into these longer contracts?

Is Mudryk really that good? I can't remember much of him in the Scotland and Wales games (was more Zinchenko running the show at Hampden and Yarmolenko scored and he was bang average in premier league despite being hyped 7-8 years ago).

Martinelli has come on massively in last year so he isn't losing his Arsenal starting place anytime soon as they have such nice balance in attack with him and Saka.

Think Vlahovic is more interesting signing, he'll be a good plan B option off the bench.

feck Chelsea, do your own scouting and find your own targets you hack club.

Most disappointing element to me is the player himself, spent the last 6 months telling everyone and their dog how much he wants to go to Arsenal, only to sign for some hasbeen club with nothing to play for. Just when you think you see a glimmer of integrity left in the game, it turns out to be a mirage.

No interest in doing that bro. You’re alright. Just saying my mates have been hyping this kid for months now and the tears in the group chat today are very delicious :D

They do find their own targets. They signed like 20 players already.

Why do Chelsea even need him? They seem to have tons of behind the striker/ wide forward players.

And the other bemusing thing is how they can afford it with the new fair play rules.

Do you really? You could be 8 or 10 points clear at the top by today

It's a clear strategic system move which fits well into their plans. He's the pivot in their attack who'll pass that final ball to Lukaku to miss once he's back on their payroll next year.

Not really sure what to make of the 7.5 year contracts either that Chelsea are offering

Our squad is really thin though and the drop off to some of our second team players really steep. We need a wide player and a CM.

I thought the Antony deal was overpriced & a bit crazy, but spending the same money on a guy who's had half a breakout season in the Ukranian league who wasn't in their plans a month ago reeks of desperation. You're going to get better deals outside rather than competing with Chelsea and the way they're portraying themselves as suckers in the market.

Never heard of this guy a month ago. Now he's being bought for €100m :wenger:

My last parting shot of the evening, is how crazy football is now, where the team that is 10th in the league, is desperate to beat the team that's first in the league to a transfer, and that's what counts most rather than what's happening on the field. The transfer windows seem more important sometimes than the bits found in between and that's the actual playing of games! :wenger:

Nearly 90million quid on a player I have never heard of.....looking forward to seeing him in action.

To be fair, the season is totally dead for Chelsea. I have zero hope of clawing back top 4 contention and we’re out of both domestic cups. We have nothing left to play for and it’s only January. The transfer market is the most fun I’ve had for months. You have bigger, more important, things to fry this season. Stealing Mudryk from Arsenal is the most fun I’m going to have this season, unless we somehow do a madness in the CL again.

It's Arsenal's own fault for not pursuing players relegated to the Championship like us. If Weghorst were five years younger and still at Wolfsburg, Boehly would have "gazumped" us for him too.

Wonder if Chelsea are looking at Kvaradonnas impact at Napoli and banking on Murdyk having a similiar impact considering he probably has performed slighly better in the same league

Are you sure?
Ziyech (shite and wants to leave)
Pulisic (shite, always injured and wants to leave)
Sterling (just shite)
Hutchinson (just broke into first team)

On loan:
CHO

That’s not really a lot. Our forward line is littered with shit inside forwards. Not wide forwards. It’s a position we need along with a real 9 and a proactive and creative CM.

Turns out you were right. Any big club and he would go there.
The sign was there last week when Shahtkar director visit Chelsea. That's why I have been saying I don't believe Edu can close the deal.

For Mudryk the purpose of his interview and his Instagram post were just to force a move. No one takes it seriously. What makes people believe he wants Arsenal only?

Genuinely puzzled as to why some people always think this is the case. And even worse, apparently, a brilliant billionaire woke up yesterday and thought to himself 'Yeah this Mudryk guy I keep seeing mentioned on Twitter will do today".

Yeah, taking the piss aside, he proved himself to be a right cnut. The way he whored himself for Arsenal for months twerking non stop not knowing when to stop. I thought that was cringy as feck in itself but no, the moron had to outdo himself by going to Chelsea after all that commotion. Shameless. I hate players like him. How hard it is to wait for a transfer and not end up looking like a fool? When you know you have that in you to be a mercenary if someone offers more than your so called dream club then why not just shut the feck up till the transfer is done. How difficult that is?

Now you see him delete all pics, lick his own spit, tail firmly between his legs and shouting chewsea chewsea chewsea after begging Arsenal to sign him. The guy is embarrassing like his hair cut. For the love of football, I hope he flops.

What surprise me the most with that transfer saga is, how the hell a club in a country in war can be in a so strong position to negociate and decline silly money only because they want more? Would he have cost 200 millions during peace?!?

Chelsea don't have enough decent attackers, they didn't replace Werner and Lukaku was sent out on loan, as was CHO, then you have Pulisic & Broja who are probably out for the season, Sterling out for a while, and that leaves you with an ageing Auba, an underperforming Havertz & Ziyech who couldn't be bothered, plus Felix on loan who will miss the next 3 games, so Chelsea are in dire need of a forward player.

But is this lad worth 100M? probably not, and it is too risky for them to bring him on such fee.

CHO's done, he'll never recover from that achilles injury
He was 3rd in key passes and big chances created (per 90) last season.

His finishing has turned to shit but his creativity hasn't.

Yep.

To be honest I'm pretty meh about the window since the Enzo deal collapsed but it's pretty obvious (if people do their due diligence) why we're refreshing the attack.

The current options are are only underperforming but many of them have a foot out of the door.
