Musk | Fascist

White male supremacy most likely. A society where white males have the same respect and control they used to have and women and minorities know their place.

He’s already the richest man on earth and that has ever existed. So it’s difficult to think it’s about making more money although that can’t be ruled out. He’s probably found that despite his wealth something is still missing and that is likely “more power” and as he’s never going to be an elected politician he’s living out his power trip by proxy. It’s not fun for him to influence policies in a traditional sense, it’s got to be in his own bombastic extremist way because he needs the attention that comes with that.

You nailed it. He even sounds like that kind of person during interviews. " You know, I'm one of the best gamer, programmer and rocket scientist ever?"

I actually agree with Trump and his supporters. Much better to spend this money on transgender care and support in the US, which is clearly what we will see

I looked into it and it's actually somewhat indirect and it's also somewhat misleading. While there is a part of the initiative dedicated to transgenders(physical and mental health) the USAID is actually funding the Accelerate program which is about managing HIV in India, that's led by John Hopkins University and Fenway Health.

My frustration, effectively proven by the response to my initial comments, is that people on ‘one side’ don’t even remotely acknowledge or even seem to have an opinion on the figures suggested.
People are trying to discuss things reasonably with you but the source of your frustration seems to be your inability to spot a load of old bollocks when you see it.

As manutd fans we’re all very aware of clickbait.

Same rule applies, more so, for politics…in particular US politics.

So instead of people just hoovering up poor journalism that Musk does a nazi salute, perhaps they should recognise that actually it’s about time that someone looked into the abhorrent spending

Certainly not a musk fan myself, but this stuff should be reported instead of the generic nonsense that fill the colum space SM and internet.
I think the images are what did the problem, not some liberal spinner.

If Bernie Sanders did what looked like a Nazi salute it'd be quite hilarious and probably not what it seemed. When someone with Musk's particular set of opinions does it, it's another thing entirely.

Instead of whining that people call you a fascist for having a different opinion and maybe consider that fact you are blind to what others can clearly see might be the reason.

Fascism doesn't have a checklist, it isn't bingo.

The more that unfolds since that salute, the less it looks like an accident spun into something bad by liberal journalists.

Like in any country, the spending is abhorrent, but like in any country it's not the marginalised that are the cause. Two billionaires reducing foreign and aid restricting domestic medicine is more like a cartoon that reality.

Government spending needs to be clipped everywhere but when the finger is pointed at the welfare system or immigration related crime be very wary of who is pointing the finger. History is your guide here.

Also, if it wasn't a kind of fascist salute, and if Musk doesn't want to be considered a fascist, he could just say so. He could also tell nazis enjoying what he did to feck off. But he didn't.

USAID spent 40 billion dollars. Not all of it wasted of course. You can make your own mind up.

It begs the question. What are the budgets of other organisations being spent on.

Millions spent giving money to support electric vehicles in Vietnam.

‘Millions’ to a transgender clinic in India.

1.5M dollars to Serbia to advance DEI in Serbias workplace.

Millions of dollars to organisations in Gaza. Recipients of which have ‘called for their land to be cleansed from the I purity of Jews!’

2M dollars for sex changes in Guatemala.

20M dollars for new kids tv show in Iraq

4.5M dollars to combat misinformation in Kyrgyzstan

10M dollars to feed to an Al Qaeds terrorist group the Nusra Front

7.9M dollars for a project in Sri Lanka to avoid binary gendered language

1.5M to promote LGBTQ advocacy in Jamaica

1.5M to rebuild The Cuban media eco system

3.9M for LGBTQ ‘causes’ Macedonia

8.3M for equity and inclusion in Nepal

Musk takes a shot at Bannon: ‘A great talker, but not a great doer’
Elon Musk clashed with former Trump White House chief strategist Steve Bannon on Thursday, as the two try to position themselves as the most faithful lieutenants of President Donald Trump’s movement.
Bannon has long taunted Musk in live interviews, though Musk has rarely returned jabs. In a POLITICO forum a week before Trump’s inauguration, Bannon said Musk didn’t “have the ability to actually make decisions and inform those decisions and drive those decisions.” Musk’s fingerprints have since been found across the Trump administration as his government efficiency organization looks to hollow out the federal workforce.

We've just been discussing this for like two pages. See especially these posts:
I'm not clicking on all the links and trash sources, but if I look at just these two:

“Hundreds of thousands of meals that went to al Qaeda-affiliated fighters in Syria”
The article linked explains that "Mahmoud Al Hafyan, who ran the organization’s Syrian division, skimmed as much as $10 million worth of meals funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development. The meals were supposed to go to Syrian civil war refugees. Mr. Al Hafyan allowed members of the Nusra Front, an al Qaeda-linked terrorist organization, to collect the meals, U.S. investigators said as they unsealed an indictment last week." So that's not USAID policy, it's an illegal diversion of funds that's facing criminal investigation.

"$6 million to fund tourism in Egypt"
The article linked explains that this is actually development support for the North Sinai region: "The amendment to the North Sinai bilateral assistance agreement supports the Egyptian government’s efforts to spur inclusive economic development in the governorate. Through this agreement, USAID will build on previous investments in North Sinai including the provision of potable water to 300,000 residents and wastewater services to 100,000 residents. New activities under this amendment will provide access to transportation for rural communities and economic livelihood programming for families."

And that, @Pughnichi, is why your list means nothing as it is. Just in these two examples we see how the headlines complete distort what actually happened. I'm not going to go through all the rest; it's up to you now to do the due diligence on your own post and demonstrate how that list proves anything.
It's the same story for all of them. You have a headline that says one thing, the article that tries to push the same narrative and the quote says something else. For example the Breibart article about opium is actually about that:

If you can't recognize a Nazi salute, how can we respect any other "observation" or opinion?

Is hard to believe a real person could think that, and there are a lot of propaganda bots out there, which is a much more reasonable explanation for the opinion that's been posted by your account.

Or you're lying, you recognize a Nazi salute, which is worse.

I know, I just want him to answer it. People get away too easily with posting controversial opinions as facts, and then other people start having to figure out what they mean - while the culprit either continues engaging on that basis or disappears from the thread for another few months.

There is possibly no source, I saw the same things mentioned without sources, just bullet points. But what I posted was the first link when I picked the first suggestion from google, so I assume that a lot of people saw it. Initially I tried to look at USAID official website and it's not accessible anymore, there is "farewell" message instead. And I couldn't find anything on USAspending.gov, you can see the budget and in which country money went but that's it.

When are these people going to realise that Trump doesn’t give a feck about polls anymore? He’s in, he’s won. His team of absolute nutters are going to make sure the midterms are a breeze. He can do whatever he wants because all three branches of government are under his control and he’s got the Supreme Court in his pocket. More importantly he’s got Fox News backing him, CNN lapping him up, Washington Post censured, Facebook, X and TikTok all twisting their algorithms for him.

Despite all the shit that is going to happen in the next two years they will increase their advantage in two years because nobody other than the extremely online will understand what they are doing.

It's surprising that Trump and his minions don't seem to recognize that USAID is actually a slush fund in the guise of foreign development used to bribe corrupt governments in order to further the interests of the country.

It's the same aid programs that China, UK, France, Germany, Russia (well, not anymore), have.

Numerous reports that sales of Tesla's are plummeting. In Europe, Tesla's vehicle sales have dropped notably, with a 59.5% decrease in Germany and a 63% decline in France.

Also interesting to see that Norwegian teams Brann and Tromsø follow in the footsteps of St. Pauli and Werder Bremen in stopping they use of X. A starting trend?

Power to the people.

They dont plan on using the carrot anymore, it'll be stick. They'll just threaten them instead.

Wow, after 5 years I decided to appeal my twitter ban one more time, since you can't delete a banned account. And they rescinded the ban.

Turns out my ban was for telling Charlie Kirk to choke on a cock.

Anyway, I finally managed to delete the account.

It is quite irrelevant anyway, as I mentioned in my post. If that is all true, it means that USAID spends 0.125% of their budget in those project, maybe 0.25% if you account the two ‘millions’ projects as all other combines. Basically not much.

It is relevant when it's part of a disinformation campaign. It's important to identify it and share that fact, even if the figures are themselves insignificant.

The richest (people or countries) imo have an obligation to aid in positive humanitarian causes around the world. There’s nothing wrong with that. They have an interest in it too.

I have to disagree. Obligation comes from within and is self determined. We can't have public opinion to determine what a individuals obligations should be. Not just in money, but expectation that celebs should use their profile as a platform to do good (which again is a ambiguous term) should never be expected.

It's appreciated if that happens, but should never be a expectation far less an obligation.

Edit: and why should this argument apply to rich people only? Should middle class be obligated to do charity within their means? Should intellectuals be obligated to teach classes for free as time permits?

Edit: this is off topic. I'll move this to General.

I Agree, Whoever has the energy, we should never give an inch

Great, the US can spend all it’s money on itself alone (a stance I don’t principally stand for) which the world would be fine with as long as it also extended to stopping all the bullshit it does to negatively impact countries and conflicts all around the globe, and impose itself there. But we all know the latter will never happen, big brother has to act like a prick waving it’s dick at everyone.

Also, that’s very optimistic of you to assume that money would he spent on transgender care in the US given the republic and are busy demonising trans people.

I think Frosty was joking.

You cant delete a banned account? That sounds like it could go against EU laws.

Id just merely encourage you (I’m sure you do) to do your own research. What was listed is being widely reported.

Problem being…and I’ve alluded to it previously. I’ll find left leaning and you’ll find right. I’m right. You’re right. Who knows anymore. And then, again suggested previously, it all becomes a mud slinging contest. It’s quite ridiculous. But, it also shouldn’t allow some in here to start labelling others Nazi sympathisers and bigots. It’s not well received and certainly isn’t reciprocated

Hillary’s emails. The origins of the Durham report, Russian collusion, the weaponisation of DOJ, the denial of a border problem, a certain laptop existence. The elites (who I do not trust) have tried to hamper trump at every single step - which in my mind sets off alarm bells. I’m also well aware that it works both ways and similarly the red ‘side’ are battling equally as hard. I’m sure you’ll also have opinions on these ‘things’ but I refer you back to my second paragraph

I’ve said off the bat I wasn’t a fan of musk

I’ve said off the bat I don’t think USAID spend should be prevented but rather unnecessary spend get looked at

I’ve said off the bat that much of their spend is necessary and should continue

Turns out as well, from reading, that there was a 90 day freeze on USAID spend with….IMPORTANTLY….a waiver on humanitarian projects - which is of course sensible and necessary
