Moyes So Far!

Giggs coming on as a winger was pointless, moving him to CM was ridiculous. Bringing on Smalling and moving Jones (who played well at CB) was shocking. Very poor from Moyes.

Those subs backfired disastrously. We needed to see out the game in a position of strength. We carried a real threat in attack and they were gradually dismantled allowing Southampton to turn the tide.

If Nani and Rooney lasted a bit longer we may have got that 2nd goal. Giggs wasn't what we needed in midfield and you could see us starting to lose control from there onwards. Our defence was also holding it's own until the changes started.

I want him gone. Fair enough if you call me petty, a bad fan, knee jerk or worse but after today I have no faith in the guy whatsoever.

Cowardly shite.
I'm starting to feel this way. I hate the idea of a managerial merry-go-round, but it's becoming pretty obvious that he isn't the right guy for us.

You'd say that this team should have beaten Southampton - but Southampton are higher than us and have the best defensive record in the league, so after being beaten at home by WBA, it was never a foregone conclusion.

However....I am really disappointed that Moyes seems to be refusing to play Hernandez, who I rate higher than Welbeck, and who has a far better strike record.

But they're above us because of some poor player performances but far more the turgid managerial performance by Moyes so far. Our squad quality is miles better than theirs, but they have played better football and gotten results. We've done neither.

Best way to hold onto a 1-0 lead is to make it 2-0. Not defend deep against a team who press high and are so prolific from set pieces. The goal was coming for most of the second half. Nani was our only player who seemed to be able to retain the ball. But hey, let's take him off. We looked comfortable until Giggs came on and decided to try and dribble into trouble every time. Smalling coming on for Rooney just cemented it.

Our passing is shit. Every time, a couple of passes in our own half, then a hoof forwards or down the line. Intercepted. Keep it on the ground. Teams with far inferior players than us can keep it on the ground. Why is our only option to chip it down the line, mostly to no one.

he has not had that good a start but to call for his head after so few games is just fecking stupid, who would be get to replace him for one.
Do you want us to become a club that sacks managers after a bad spell ?
This was predicted after SAF left.
If we sacked him now we would become the laughing stock of the PL and dont give me that bullshit we already are because that is also bollocks.

Why bring on Welbeck and Giggs? Are we really at the point when we try to secure a 1-0 win against Southampton at home with 20 min to go?

Negative subs and both Welbeck and Giggs was poor, especially Welbeck.

The substitution decisions were so bad. It must have instilled confidence in the the Southampton players. Moving players about for every sub. Why? What was that going to accomplish? The Smalling sub was bizarre. If height was what he was going for then why sub Fellaini? Why take of Rooney and not Januzaj?

I'm seriously annoyed with him.

Terrible substitutions today, as they have been in pretty much every game. Can't believe we gave the job of being United's manager to him :wenger:
Bad tactics have us sitting back too far, terrible business in the transfer window first of all wasting 30 mil on a sac of shite and now has us struggling in the league even.

Following a poor pre-season we've had a poor start. The signing of Fellaini set the tone: £27.5 million for such an average player when Monaco picked up an infinitely better centre midfielder in Joao Moutinho for £20 million announced the direction of travel. The fact Moyes thinks Fellaini is good enough for Man Utd shows his mentality isn't right.

His tactics and subs, not only today, but all season have been both confusing and, to my eyes, just wrong. Nani did nothing to warrant being subbed and was one of our main attacking threats. Removing him gave relief to Southampton and replacing him with Giggs unbalanced the XI. It seems that Moyes has some players he trusts and some he just doesn't. Nani like, for example, Chicharito or Kagawa seem to be in the do not trust box. If they play very well or have match changing performances they get game time but the second they aren't doing something totally unreal they get subbed. All the while other players can be consistently below par and still get selected...

Southampton came onto us but instead of fighting fire with fire and attempting to restore our attacking balance Moyes retreated. It was no shock when Southampton scored. We invited them to attack us after all, nai? Just as we have invited other teams on to us with negative selections and unwillingness to take risks.

Moyes says he needs 18 months to turn the team into his side. I'm baffled as to what that side will look like. I see no vision, no plan, no real philosophy. Just fear.

He's in real real trouble.

His subs in every game have been questionable. But today's were that of a manager with a mid table mentality.

His comments about hard fixture make him look foolish now. These are easy fixtures that we should be winning.

What odds on us dropping out of the top 4 now?
I will be very surprised (and at this point, very happy) if we manage to finish in the top four. Chelsea, Arsenal and City clearly look better than us at the moment, while Liverpool and Tottenham have been more impressive so far this year (and appear to have far better managers.)

Want him gone before he ruins us. This could be Souness again.

I would give him more time, if he had actually won something. Also his style of football is dogshit and his only signing is awful.

Ya, given the debt and the lack of sugar daddy to back the club should we fail to qualify for the CL I can't see him getting much more time. We're barely top half of the table at the moment. What a farce.

Champions to dogshit in months. Fire his useless coaching staff and bring back the staff that know what they are doing ffs.

I get that soton are a decent side this year and a form team. We did come close to scoring a second several times. However, what worries me the most is that Moyes doesn't know how to "fix" our problem of scoring goals and controlling the midfield. We never dominated possession and we almost ALWAYS do at Old Trafford. The substitutions were also bizarre but I guess hindsight is 20/20. If that goal hadn't gone in it would have been fine.

Fergie started his career off as a striker and it clearly is reflected in his managerial tendencies. Moyes was a defender. Just saying

I want him gone. Fair enough if you call me petty, a bad fan, knee jerk or worse but after today I have no faith in the guy whatsoever.

Cowardly shite.

We're all entitled to our opinions. Mine is that you're a mewling cnut.

Tbf he left RVP and Rooney on as long as he could, so looked like he was going for the second. I think the bigger problem is both of them, bar the odd flash didn't look on their games, we may well have gotten more out of the team with giggs in a 3 with carrick and fellaini, and have kept Nani on with one of RVP/Rooney up top for the last twenty mins or so. But so far he's looked to keep them on as long as he can.

1 up and in control, and makes 2 defensive subs. Anyone with half a brain will well you that sends a huge lift to any opposition. He needs to have a bloody look at himself, cos Moyes blew 2 points today, no question about it

fecking baffling. If only Rooney's shot in the 1st half had have been a few inches lower or Giggs 10 years younger, he might have stuck that pass from Rooney away. The Fellaini sub I can see, but Rooney was causing them no end of problems so unless he was injured, it's a bit of a mystery.

Taking off Rooney so late was odd. Taking Nani off over Janujaz was odd.
Smacked off "this game's won, let's think about midweek"

Winning today was the only thing that mattered.

This was meant to be our little easy run in the league.

If we sacked him now we would become the laughing stock of the PL and dont give me that bullshit we already are because that is also bollocks.

Despite my posts in this thread I'm not advocating sacking Moyes now. He should get a full season at minimum. Just not sure who fans/posters would want to replace him. And which manager the club could get.

What did SAF see in moyes. Absolute shit substitution. Giggs should have retired. I hope we finish in the bottom half of the table and Moyes get sacked. Kagawa should have come on instead of Giggs

Moyes is shite yes and I never wanted him here in the first place, but to say you hope we finish in the bottom half of the table :wenger:

its like hes trying to emulate SAFs style in every way. His subs today was something I could see SAF do but SAF knew who to bring on against the opposition. Moyes looks like hes throwing players on hoping for the best.

Taking off Rooney for smalling was stupid and contributed to us losing our shape and dropping deeper. A bit to early for Moyes out but he really has to pull the finger out

Just not learning from mistakes so far. My biggest worry with Moyes was his negativity and it's panning out that way at Utd and costing us points.

Have to agree there. He was bold at Sunderland when it could have cost us but to be this negative at home against a team that has such a poor record was baffling in the extreme.

Credit to Southampton but that should have been 3 points wrapped up long before they equalised. The Giggs substitution says it all when we have players like Kagawa on the bench...

Not pleasant to watch but what's worrying is that I don't see any progression in this team. That may have been acceptable at Everton but it isn't here!

Looks completely out of his depth. On the job training for the next couple of seasons.

Anyone reckon he'll walk if this continues?

Can't help but think he lacks some major balls.

Chelsea sack managers, when they in the top four.

This isn't Chelsea like sacking. We dropping points, no style and awful performances. Usually when new manager comes in you get the opposite.

As long as he could? What was the need to bring Rooney off, and for Smalling for that matter?

Poor - very poor today. Questionable substitutions. If he intended to throw Giggsy on in the middle anyway, he should've subbed him on for Fellaini directly. Fellaini was shite, by the way. We should've done more to win this one. As it turned out Southampton earned their point. Just a an allround poor display, really. We gave the ball away far too much. Rooney was sloppy as feck. Still, I felt we were close to getting something to gel in the first half - attacking wise at least. But it was obviously just in flashes.

But those subs - well, he can only blame himself there. They were clearly not the right ones.
