Moyes So Far!

Agreed regarding the first point, but I don't quite understand what you mean, you're speaking about Mata being ineligable so the selection is easier? I'm not saying I want Moyes to play a defined "best XI" every time, I just want a clear method, a plan, not just wingers will get enough balls in the box...

No, what am saying is that in the CL, he has 2 spots to fill on either flank as Mata's ineligible. Last time, he fecked it up totally by picking Young and Valencia both. But in the league, Mata will start on the right so it means he only can feck up the left wing position and with Valencia unable to play there, worst case scenario, young starts which wont be as bad.

But Mata is left footed and could easily be put on the left....

If it did happen, and we actually beat Liverpool and City, progressed in the UCL and started to play some decent football, then to be honest, it still wouldn't convince me that Moyes is right for the club. What it would do however is give me that little bit of hope I need to believe he knows what he's doing, even if it's only a tiny bit. He would still have some way to go to get the full backing of all the fans, but it would be a good place to start.

Good post, so for you it's a mix of results/formations etc over the next few games...

If he loses on Sunday he should be sacked on Monday.

You'll give him Sunday night then? Too Kind...

 Very true, worrying when we are more positive when his hands are more tied, and he gets less input...

Unlikely as he didnt get as involved in the Arsenal game when he was employed on the left. Looks more comfortable on the right.

Moyes' football could become effective with time and future signings however I do think in the big games he relies on neutralising the opposition and keeping the game tight whilst getting a goal or two on the counter or from set pieces. We have looked particularly dangerous from set pieces actually this season.

If he can manage to neutralise the attacking threat of Liverpool, it is possible we can exploit the Liverpool defence especially with Welbeck LAM and his dribbling and ability to beat his man. That said due to the lack of pace in our front two we need to focus on keeping the ball, passing it around and looking for that pass to an RVP run. I just think the long ball directness doesn't bring the best out of RVP.

I'm not quite sure how United win this game in all honesty but I am intrigued to see how David Moyes the tactician fares. I'm not so sure how we kept Arsenal quiet but he did something right in those two games.

setup defensively and don't even think of counter-attack because we'd lose our shape, sop that will the only way we don't get a drubbing.

however, if that's the tactic on Sunday, at home, against our fiercest rivals, knowing that 3 points for us is invaluable and 3 point lost for them will dent ant title hopes they have, then he should just resign. That is exactly what united is not about.

I'm not gonna flip out tomorrow if we lose.. but this is a huge chance for Moyes to show us something. He finally has a full fit team in decent form, at Home, versus an in form side, a real chance to show us something good. If we get battered tomorrow it's going to be a massive blow to everyone at the club, if we lose a tight game it's still gonna be a blow if we don't show enough guts. Hopefully the lads will give Moyesy credit if we pull off a win tomorrow

We beat Arsenal if you recall, and could have nicked it in Emirates where it's very hard to win. I think you'll find not many united fans have complaints about those two performances

Yeah, but it kind of seems like we were playing against Arsenal through muscle memory. OK, it's obviously never like that, but we've done the same things we've done against Arsenal in recent years. And we created so little at the Emirates.

If we beat City and Liverpool top four is a wild wild dream, as their fixtures are very tough... very very unlikely bridging the 11 point gap.

If we beat Liverpool tomorrow, a fools hope... nothing more than a fools hope... I hope Real Madrid start tapping up Suarez too throwing him off his game in the later games of this season too.

Was disappointed in his comments on rvp at west brom - had his best game because he ran around a bit and tackled people.....is that the barometer of performance level moyes? Jesus.

Its all good to come out and boost confidence but the above comment is absolute tripe.

As for today, i see Rodgers is full of it in the weekend papers - cocky little shit. I know a few pool fans who will not be happy with his comments. You may have just angered a few players into a reaction Brenton.

Big day for Moyes.

Arguably his biggest since taking the job.

I really hope he pulls it off and quietens the pessimists. We need unity and solidarity between now and May. The players and management seem to be rowing in the one direction (judging from the comments this week) and it's up to the fans to get onboard now.

Let's make Old Trafford a fortress again and welcome those Scouse bastards with a cacophony of noise at 1.30pm today.

It should resemble a bear pit. No remorse.

Every game seems to be his biggest, I agree though that today is the true test, if he fails there are very few options left for him. I didn't think the season could get much lower but it can, likewise a win could lift us and give us hope for Wednesday.
I just hope he doesn't go back into 'safe mode' and play his flat 4-4-2.

Sure. But Moreso, it's up to the management and players to actually perform. I have no doubt the match going fans will be good.

I'm not sure it's a big game for him in that sense, his job seems safe and were achieving squat this season either way.

But it is a big game for the united-Liverpool rivalry, and especially for Liverpool's rise and bid to finally win the title. If they win today their chances are pretty good. We have to win today.

Praying for a win today, would be amazing. If we play 4-4-2 With Valencia on one of the wings i will be pissed off. Just go with the formation we have been using recently and stick Welbeck on the left side ahead of Januzaj who has gone off the boil a little bit recently.

I agree that his job seems safe, the fans might turn on him though and as a result might put ideas in the boards head. Everything is going to be analysed today, unfairly so, but it's going to happen nonetheless.
If we get well beaten, outplayed and out thought by Liverpool at home then he's clearly going to lose the faith of a lot more fans than he already has. He has no excuses now, little in the way of injuries, he's at Home, and the crowd are going to be expecting not only a win but a good team performance.
It's a true test of his character, and come the final whistle if he doesn't have all three points then maybe it's the beginning of the end for him. I hope that's not the case, if Moyes wins we all win.

He cant afford to let us get totally outplayed or a big defeat as it'd really get the fans on his back. Other than that, Ya I agree, this game in isolation isnt going to have an impact on his long term future here either ways, be it a narrow win or a loss.

Us getting battered would get the fans on his back but it would all calm down pretty soon when everyone realises were stuck with him for a good while.

If the match going crowd turns against him which could happen if we get battered by both Pool and City, his exit would become a very distinct possibility. Its one thing for the posters on the internet being against him, entirely different when it comes to matchgoers.

Someone I know was in our end at the West Bromwich match ans said quite a few of our supporters wouldn't join in the 'David Moyes Red & White army' chant. Things could change and if over the next ten days we get a bunch of crappy home results against Liverpool and City, maybe a CL exit as well...

Regardless of results for the rest of the season, he won't be sacked.
I doubt he would get sacked next season either.
I'm going to stick my neck on the line and say we are turning a corner under him. Will prob regret saying that at 3:15.

You really are on a crusade arent you?

I've heard (in person and from friends that visit OT) a few fans at games trying to start "you'll get sacked in the morning" but, fortunately, it doesn't catch on.

The majority of fans who visit OT and away games don't chant it but there is a growing number of them who are starting to turn

If we keep on playing like we do, just like right now it will catch on.

He fails to change things when they're not working. Today, like against City, it was obvious the formation was not working and it was a matter of time before they score. Rather than change things and react to the game, we keep it the same and concede. Tactically, he looks to have little idea what to do.

It's like if plan A fails, we don't have any other option.

He's so tactically inept its painful. Rodgers has dicked all over him so far.

A flat 4-4-2 is all he knows.

He is just shit for so many reasons, he should have been sacked after the Olybiakos math.

Rodgers has made him look like an absolute amateur today. Moyes clearly thinks just throwing 11 good players on a pitch together will work. As I say, tactically, he's beyond clueless. He's a joke.

He needs to show some fecking bollocks and stop playing Rvp and Rooney as a front two in these matches against big teams, when we know we won't dominate possession.

The first half has justified why many of us want Moyes to go. Tactically he is useless!

I don't get it, why would you play 2 vs 3 in midfield against Liverpool when you know how ineffectual our midfield is?

Today all but confirms that you can give him good players, but he doesn't know how to use them. He can spend a fortune on the likes of Kroos, Gundogan etc. but we'd still look clueless.
