Moyes So Far!

Today was one of the rare times he could actually say we were unlucky. 75% of the ball, five times as many shots, ten times as many corners...I have no idea how we didn't win that one.
It's not "unlucky" that there's not a plan beyond "cross the ball", though. We've got so many talented players on the pitch. Januzaj, Mata, Rooney and RvP should be able to combine with some quick passing, but apart from one or two incidents it just doesn't happen. We pass the ball around in midfield, put it out to the wing and cross it in - that's it. When you look at top teams they can break down defences by some quick one-two-passing, but there's none of that happening from our players, which makes it a lot easier to defend against (put a few tall players on the pitch and head the ball away, basically). With Fulham defending that deep we should at least be able to force them to make some tackles that might end up earning us a penalty, but they hardly had to make a tackle in the box because we just kept crossing the ball every time a player got in a position to do so.

I really wanted to give Moyes time, but there has to be some signs of improvement at least. At the moment he's not setting the team up to play to our strengths (I'm honestly not sure what they are, but getting at the end of crosses certainly isn't one of them), but he still seemingly sticks to the same gameplan week in week out despite it clearly not working.

He's actually laughing in the interview.

Credit to Rene, praising us, and keeping his emotions inside.

Moyes out.

Why wait for the end of the season to confirm the obvious - he's clearly out of his depth. Plan for next season now.

Whats space? They are camped in their area

Our players are supposed to find space and create it. Do what the top teams do and vary the style, instead of simply putting it out wide and constantly crossing. There's a difference between a team being defensive and a team using literally every little bit of space. They did the former, and they could be broken down.

"I've made a horrible mistake..."

Thought the exact same thing when I saw it.

"I dont know how we didnt win".

He's clueless. He still thinks we created loads of chances and it was all luck why we didnt win. Jesus christ. This is insane.

"We done everything to try win....Crossed it and passed it to get through them"
"Didn't take our chances when we got them"
"Don't always get what you deserve"
"Disappointed we didn't take better care of our delivery to the crosses"

Asked can we catch Liverpool,
"We'll do our best"

He's looks pretty angry

Crosses this w/e: Munich: 11 A Madrid: 17 R Madrid: 19 Chelsea: 19 Juve: 21 Dortmund: 24 City: 39 United: 82

fecks sakes he's not alowed to celebrate any more? The crowd should have stayed comepletely silent and all i guess

You kinda completely missed my point so I'm gonna break it down for you. He's allowed to celebrate but after such a shit performance, being ahead 2-1 wasn't the cause of such a big celebration from him. Comparing his reactions and the crowd's is incredibly dumb.

We did mix it up at times, but when a players finds himself out wide in space he isn't going to decline to cross, which is going to happen alot in a game thats so 1 sided

No we didn't. Just look at that diagram of our play. We just hit it out wide and crossed it with no attempt to actually play some decent football and play it through the middle. There was little to no variation in the side today.

Oh Christ, did you see his interview?! He's a complete bellend. He thinks we didn't win because our crosses weren't accurate enough. F*ck me.

That walk from OT has to have been the worst yet... even worse than Sunderland.

I'm at the end of my tether, he has to go ASAP... the sooner the better.

David Moyes says "Today was as bad as it gets." No shit
It will get worse. Arsenal, City, Pool, Everton and Southampton all to play, plus a possible loss to Olympiakos in the CL or a mauling by one of Europe's big clubs (possibly City) if we scrap through.

Tactically clueless. His celebration for our 2nd goal was embarrassing. It's got to be time to go, surely.

"dont know how we didn't win"

Sack him, please sack him.

@datura Still think its all a PR exercise after the last press conference?

He's clueless. He's amazed how we didnt win it after creating so many chances. bless him!!

I do not see another top team who will have had to deal with smaller teams defending with 10 men in the box cross half as many times as we do. And they actually have more success and win against these tactics.

Sending in a record breaking amount of crosses means it's drilled into them by the boss as their main tactic. All Moyes and it is one dimensional to the extreme.

Your second goal was an open shot, which was deflected and served to you on a silver platter. There was nothing about luck in this game. Steckelenburg had three or four really good saves, but otherwise all this possesion led to extremely little vs. the worst defense of the EPL.

This performance is mainly down do Moyes. He set the team up that way. Not a single team in the world plays in such a way with a overreliance on one thing (crossing), if they are not clearly told to do so.

People also need to realise that this is the way Moyes wants United to play. Mata, Januzaj, Rooney or RvP are all capable of taking different approaches towards the game, but are not doing it.

Moyes needs to go. There is not another way to say it. I have trouble remembering a similar case of a manager regressing a team in such a way over half a year.

You used to be a team that was feared. Now the dead last team subs offensively at HT because they smell blood. You used to be able to turn games around at even the last minute, now you are eating goals in extra time like they are candies. All this mental strength is gone, because you are coached by a negative manager.

Let him go as soon as possible and bring someone in with a clear idea, who gets to install it without pressure about results. This is the best time for a new coach to start a transition, because the season is already a write off. The longer you wait the deeper you will fall.

Someone tell him our second goal was deflected= luck.

Clueless midtable manager still hell bent on playing 19th century hoofball.

Nah this one is silly. Fergie would have been celebrating just like that in those circumstances, just like he did whenever we got a late winner - regardless of the opposition.

There is an ample supply of sticks to hit Moyes with at the moment, but this isnt one of them.

How would you achive that against a team that declined to even defend against width?
You could if your players have composure, good touch, awareness. If they move around, be available for a pass, etc.

We don't. We dare do only the basic stuff - get it wide - cross, because it's the easiest and doesn't require clever movement and having balls. We're pathetic. Moyes as well.

When I see this...well it genuinely scares me :(

By dragging them out. They knew all we could do is cross, so they just packed the box out and outnumbered us. They have taller players than us so crossing is even less likely to work. All they had to do was keep shape and we'll keep shooting ourselves in the foot. If we start getting in between the lines/behind them then it could have caused some chaos. As it was, they were happy to let us keep doing the same thing over and over again.

How can you blame a guy for celebrating his team taking a lead in a hard fought match, for so long it looked like it would happen despite all the chances we had

I think its safe to say with Everton/Liverpool/Tottenham all flying this season we won't even make Europe next season

Honestly Moyes vs Klinsmann, who is/was worse? The only comparison I can come up with

Two wins, one draw, and six losses in 2014. Relegation form. Just get him out.

Sack Him __________________________________________________ Persevere

I still support him, but it's gone to the stage now whereby I'm unsure that the current squad (or many influential members of the squad) respect him/are responding to his ideas. I don't think we'll see an improvement until the deadwood is chopped from the squad and he gets his own men in, but our position in the summer will have a big implication on whether we can attract the big names that he's identifying.

We're not going to get Champions League football next season, so we probably won't get the top-quality players we require. The only we might is if we have a big-name manager in charge, somebody who the top talents will love to play under. It's a tricky one.

Put it this way: this club would be well within their rights if they took action right now. The next six months could have huge knock-on effects on our future position in the game. Absolutely huge.

I still

Fergie certainly would not have been celebrating like this if the win wasnt important for the title challenge.
