Moyes So Far!

Rest Januzaj and Fletcher, play Cleverley alongside Jones, Kagawa through the middle, Young on the left, Mata on the right, RvP upfront. Giggs, Valencia AND Young (one of those two is enough) just screams of crap football once again. I can't believe he's fielding Valencia once again FFS!

Moyes just can't fecking win with some of you.

Januzaj needs resting for Goodness sake. He's not a robot!

What did you expect? We've seen who Moyes is and what kind of football he favours in the last few months.

As I said somewhere above, talk about 'exciting football' is cheap. Is Moyes suddenly going to change his spots because we sign one player?

If he's not going to change his spots an we see mata having to play onthe left of a 442 when rvp and rooney are fit then that's pretty disappinting and probably a waste of that money.

It's still early days but he'll be expected to get the best out of those three when fit eventually, can't see him doing that without changing how we set up.

Burn out? He's coming up for 19. Fabregas played over 40 games when he was 17 years old. We've had the weekend off.
What's Fabregas got to do with anything? Januzaj looked jaded last game and was upset after the game but yeah lets keep playing him.

Moyes' team selection continues to baffle me. He talks about creating an 'exciting team' and has an array of technical, flair player he could choose, but opts for the insipid duo of Young and Valencia, while playing a 40 year-old and centre back as our midfield partnership. Christ on a bike.

It's difficult seeing as playing the fluid and attractive attacking football we all crave when Moyes is seemingly only capable of playing one way with rigid and uninspiring football and chooses out of form or unconfident players that don't merit a starting berth.

I'd much rather play Giggs in a game like this than Clev.

Do think it should have been Kagawa in place of Young though.

I think the fact that we have 6 or 7 players, mostly midfielders, that elicit this kind of rage whenever selected highlights the difficult position Moyes is in.

You can debate one or two selections but there are question marks over all of them.

Valenica - Jones - Giggs - Young

feck me. Seriously, what the feck.

To be fair, nothing new about Jones and Giggs in cm.

As for Valencia and Young - what were people really expecting? That Moyes would totally change the way we play half way through the season? Adopt a system that means every winger in our squad is surplus to requirements?

A bit of a reality check. Expect to see Valencia continue to play regularly over the coming months. After all, have there been any signs he was losing patience with him, despite all his atrocious play?

When everyone is fit: Rooney behind RvP, Mata cutting in from the left, Valencia on the right.

State of the caf, really. Far too many sub-par/very young posters. Kind of like the club right now actually!

After the Mata signing it was painful to watch all the "We're going to be so awesome now, man/I knew it Moyes was awesome all along woohoo!/I'm awesome 'cause I'm a positive guy and like, yeah!" posts.

For the last(?) time re those posters: Moyes will never be a great leader. He may turn out to be competent organizer given the right (read: expensive) pieces. But nothing more.

Anyways, good to see a fair few posters still calling Moyes out on his ongoing less-than-stellar man-management/media interactions.

Cant believe the line up, was hoping to see something more "frightening". He's a bit of a coward, isn't he?

I think it's a lack of ideas in terms of putting together an attacking side.

All he knows is playing the ball wide and cross it. You would think bringing in Mata would at least encourage him to not play too rigid wide players that have been underperforming for the last seasons - but no.

He's basically chosen the one team that takes absolutely no account of the fact we've just signed Juan Mata to improve the team. Nothing about the team has actually improved, he's just playing in place of Rooney. It's maddening.

Anywho. We can at least hope the signing has given everyone a psychological boost and we at least play the best version of these tactics we can.

Christ on a bike, will you give the chap a chance? He has gone stir-crazy with that bench, and I imagine we'll see Rooney, Mata, Januzaj and van Persie on the field together some time in the second half.

I don't think we will, Mata and RVP won't both play the full 90, that'll definitely be the front four against Stoke though.

That danger will remain as long as we have Young and Valencia in the squad. Get rid of them and our attacking options are Rooney, RVP, Kagawa, Nani, Mata, Januzaj. That can only lead to good football especially with a good midfield behind them.

Moyes should start the summer by getting rid of both of them.
I agree. The problem with having too many similar players though is that you struggle when you need to play a different way, so if we only had inside forwards we might become overly narrow. We could keep a winger for when the game needs to be stretched but I'd be happy for it to be Nani with a quality attacking addition like Reus who's quite flexible across the attacking three.

When will he learn? Seriously?

If we end up sneaking past this it's all due to the brilliance of RvP.

We're playing absolutely horrid football, letting Cardiff dominate possession and creating feck all bar the odd cross.

Watching Liverpool - Everton at the same time as this is fecking depressing.

We play football like Americans imagine it.

Yeah, actually we do.

Just throwing Mata on the pitch won't change that either.

It's by far the most depressing thing about this Moyes reign - it won't change because he doesn't know how to. I'm now officially convinced.

The sooner he moves on from truly believing Giggs in midfield works when alongside some like Jones the better. I get that we are weak in that area with injuries and without buying we have to make do but please Moyes understand that Giggs in a two man midfield against any side with a gameplan instantly downgrades the whole team.

How many times can marjen moan about the same thing, just with different words. That's the question.

In that case let's forget about 4th place, it's never going to happen if this is our ambition in terms of playing football.

The most important thing at the moment is to get back to winning games. The football will undoubtedly improve as soon as we get our best players back and we start winning with the confidence that will bring. Pretty obviously the same weaknesses in the squad haven't been fixed by one signing, can't expect us to suddenly be brilliant overnight.

We really haven't done that much wrong vs Cardiff thus far. I think some people won't stop complaining until we're winning every game 4-0. There is nothing soul destroying about Moyes's tactics, and there were plenty of conservative displays during the Fergie era.

About as many times as Moyes manages to get us playing this way, I'd imagine.

You seem like one of those spoilt brats that's been told that they can't have what they like.

What do you expect exactly? Mata isn't going to solve our midfield issues.

I've got a lot of reservations when it comes to Moyes, but surely one game in the 'Mata era' is no way to judge him. Adnan needs a rest here and there, he wasn't going to pick both Rooney and RVP after injuries... A little too early.

Thats the way round Barca did it. And Arsenal, Swansea, Dortmund, Liverpool under Rodgers etc. All those teams that try and play good football. They all resigned themselves to playing shit, basic, tactically unadventurous bilge until they had the perfect players.

Yeah, it's all down to the midfield. A manager with players of the calibre of RvP, Rooney, Januzaj, Kagawa and Mata at his disposal has to send his team out to play the most tumescent shite imaginable because we're weak in the center. How can you play good football unless you've got Kroos and Vidal in midfield?

The fact that Moyes teams have usually played crap football in the past should also be ignored.
