Moyes So Far!

Turned it around at half time. Can't ask for more than that when its going bad.

Bungled matters at the start clearly [which Chelsea would punish us for] however made positive changes at half time.

Our first half was appalling, but he made some changes or at least inspired them in the second. It was much better.

2 steps forward, 1 step back. This was one of the steps forward. There will be more frustrating games to come but when we get it right you can see there is a chance he might become a decent manager for us one day. Early days still

He prefers to play through the middle and did a lot for the reserves as well. Our best player, playing in the position where he can have the greatest influence. Shocker

Don't disagree that long term he will make the move through the middle. Especially once he puts on muscle and finishes growing. However, he seems to perform the best from the left flanks right now and we definitely could use his crossing because it's more accurate than any other players!

Great to see shinji influence the match so well from his preferred position. Unlucky not to get a goal. Now moyes has a decision of whether to keep shinji behind the striker or have Rooney (if fit) slot back in there. Whatever the case, shinji should get more matches behind the striker. Heck, would love to see him Behind Rooney if welbeck wasn't in such good form!

Was nice to see Old Trafford supporting him at the end of the game.

Really happy for Moyes today. I just hope he gets the funds to spend this month. A RW is possibly needed just as much as a CM...

Seemed like the first time all season that there was an actual, notable change at half time... so massive credit to him for whatever he did or said during the break.

Putting Januzaj out wide and Kagawa thru the middle made a huge difference. More of that please, Moyes.

I don't get why Moyes gets credit for this change when he shouldn't have made this decision in the first place. He simply corrected what was wrong from the start.

At least has was sensible enough to see it and change it.

Yeah but you also dont get why you put your pants on first and then your shoes....

He still looks miserable.
Rightly so, he'll still be fuming with the first half performance. He's coming out and saying we're playing pretty well because he has to but he won't believe it, the second half today is us playing well, and that should be the norm not the exception, until that's the case he'll remain miserable. I loved the attitude he showed in that interview today.

I want him to succeed here so badly.

We'll win the Football League again
This time with David Moyes

Five wins from our last six league games. It's actually weird, that's good form in the league, but the losses at home and our recent terrible form, coupled with our abysmal quality of play make all of this just misery. If we could draw to Chelsea, beat Cardiff and reach the final of the League Cup we could be back on track again. A couple of signings would be great though...

Well if he gets stick for not being able to motivate the players at half time against Sunderland in the cup then he should get praise for how we started the second. The players certainly came out with a bit more zip.

I was disappointed in how we approached the first half. I was really happy to see Kagawa and Januzaj start but it still seemed that he wanted them to stick to fixed positions and I just don't think that gets the best out of them. Particularly as well although I can understand it I thought kagawa left and januzaj central was odd as kagawa continually shows hes not comfortable on the left when he has to play it in a fixed way, where as Jauzaj has more to his game to be able to play a more isoloated role.

Second half though the switch and also the tactical change to allow the team to push up more was good and worked well. I hope until Rooney/RVP are fit this is something we see more off. I think it's something that when they get in to the grove could make things interesting when they are fit as the way Rooney plays off the striker/help the midfield is very different to the way Adnan/Kagawa do.

Either way an important win and there was some encouraging stuff in the second half.

I was starting to worry he couldn't get through to these players. Whatever he did at half time worked a treat. I haven't seen us that fired up in a long time. We looked relentless and driven in every position.

I hope he enforces a proper pressing game in our team. It was sickening to see us stand off Swansea and let them have all the possession. The minute we turned up the pressure, they were forced into mistakes galore. Finally we've also seen true variation and intensity in our play. If that was Moyes changing things up, then it's a positive step forward. This is what we're capable of when we decide to play that way. Enough of the predictable crossing; quicker forward passes, interchanging positions and runners in behind is what we need. We can't ever let the opposition feel like they've figured us out.

Liverpool lose tomorrow and we're only two points behind them. Things change so quickly in this game. We should remember that.

If there's one thing we have improved on, it's our pressing. I thought it was an excellent part of our game today. However, we need to pressure the man with the ball quicker, rather than back off and allow the opposition to find a pass or shoot.

The fact we seemingly changed it entirely around in 15 minutes at half-time rubbishes the suggestions that we're not pressing our playing attacking football through the middle because Moyes need more than 7 months at changing our style.

I think it's all about the mentality which we approach a match, and that mentality comes from the manager. Credit to him if he really freed us from the shackles at the break tonight. Let's see for the remaining matches of the season.

Any quotes from DM*?

So the monster, really a mechanical masonry mover, was sent to destroy us while we slept, right?

Good heavens! You've bought me an aquarium. How kind. It's not an aquarium. It's Colonel K. What is it, Colonel?

There you are, Steve, a couple of good DM quotes. *

* Feck, didn't realize you meant Moyesie.

 Danger Mouse left out the obligatory "I thought we played really well." :D

 I keep thinking about that intro song: "He's the greatest, he's fantastic, wherever there is danger (of getting the sack) he'll be there, Danger Mooooyesss!"

Yes, we need to press as a team rather than as individuals which is what is happening at the minute. The whole team needs to move up the pitch by about 10 yards and squeeze the opposition.
