Moyes So Far!

We spent 27 million on Marouine Fellaini this summer.

We bought rvp and Kagawa last season.

We once bought Hargreaves, Anderson Nani and tevez (loan) in the same summer.

This excuse fails.

How many years did it take for us to spend the Ronaldo money we got in 2009?!

I said the same to him in another thread a while back, he didn't seem to be convinced.
 correct. I just don't think Glazer spend enough money and invest in the team, that's why we are in this situation now.

I can live with the defeats but, please, no more analogies. :D

Hey:lol: How have you been?

Anyways, back on topic, I've very little faith in him now, he's just not up to the job.

The question was would he be in the same position I.e. 8th. Not struggling.

I can't seriously believe anyone would think we would be

Maybe Moyes isn't a bully like SAF, and he is, he got a lot of decisions off referees that Moyes will never get. He intimidated them and other managers. That was always going to be a problem when he left. Only Jose would maybe be able to do that and the board especially Sir Bobby didn't want him.

Serious question: could Moyes actually have done any worse in terms of transfers, results, playing style and entertainment?

Likely yes but it would have been difficult to do it. Genuinely I think that we wouldn't have done worse even with Fat Sam in charge. While theoritically it's possible that we would have lost every match we have played this season, I seriously doubt that we could have been in a worse position even with a bad manager in charge.

You think it's enough or what are you trying to say? We have a squad that badly needs new players.

No, I'm saying that you don't have the foggiest what the owners are allowing us to spend, or not.

Ok we have been dreadful this season but we are only 5 points behind the all conquering Liverpool.

Fergie rebuilt 3 or 4 teams. Moyes has walked in to the job just when the team needs some rebuilding. He has walked in to a few hospital passes and has made some mistakes. I think things will get worse before they get better. I believe Rooney will bail at the end of the season, he hasnt looked like he is enjoying his football even though he has been playing well. I think he wants a new challenge. RVP I suspect will want to move on at the end of the season as well, if we dont make the Champions league I bet he will be off. Rio will retire, Vidic is coming towards the tail end as are Evra and Carrick. We have only a couple of decent wide players and we are weak in depth in the fullbacks. Then there is the midfield problem.
Its going to be a tough couple of years.

If SAF was missing RvP and Rooney, wouldn't he be in the same place that Moyes is in now?

Of course not. Some people needs to check the injury list of last seasons and understand that injuries didn't start from this season. In all of last years we had trouble with injuries, does anyone remember the defense on Milano match? On a season when we became Champions and went to semis on UCL.

As I pointed out a few days ago - Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and City all spent more than us in this last transfer window.

Granted, but he was saying the owners hired Moyes because he can operate on a budget, and I don't believe that to be true. I feel the money is there for Moyes if he wants it.

Honestly, if he doesn't get given any investment for transfers this January nor makes an attempt at some sort of improvement, I am expecting a lot of disappointment at the end.

Wouldn't believe everything you read. Jose was on the list

David Moyes is currently underachieving with a squad that is probably 4-5th best in the premier league, however it's halfway through the season. The FA Cup we haven't won for 10 years. We are in the semi final of the Lague Cup, and are in the second phase of the Champions League.

Yeah, and yesterday we were still hoping for a run in the FA Cup. The reality is that the little reasons for optimism will fall one by one - we're not going to win the league cup if City is in our way and we'll be out of the CL the moment we face one of the top dogs. Our league campaign has been dreadful. Our football is crap. Even the one thing Moyes is supposed to be able to do - organize a defense - has been lacking. This season has been an utter disaster.

Yep I agree with the players but we also have DDG Rafael Jones Smalling AJ and Welbeck who are 6 young players of huge potential. Plus Carrick Valencia Evans Rooney and RVP to keep us challenging.

I am at my wits end with this.

  • Fires a winning coaching staff to bring in scrubs who know nothing of how to win or the squad they will be working with
  • Fails miserably in the transfer market; SAF must have had targets lined up and/or suggestions. If not maybe the coaching staff...oh wait he fired them
  • After failing miserably, his solution is a mediocre player who we over pay for in Fellaini...who then gets seriously injured and costs us a fortune in medical bills while simultaneously doing nothing to suggest he deserves to even wear the shirt
  • By all accounts the training regime is beyond stupid and the reason we are seeing so many injuries. I just heard Rooney may need groin surgery ffs.
  • Instead of an imposing figure on the touch line like Sir Alex he always looks as if he is begging the team to play for him. On top of that I fear he may cry at any moment.
  • He is in way over his head. I want United to succeed, Moyes or no Moyes and at the moment I'm thinking no Moyes

I have no idea why others such as Phelan, Mourinho, Martinez, Carlos Q....the list goes. Phelan knows this club about as well as Sir Alex and if we truly wanted more of the same then why not stick with the same! Instead of we David Flipping Moyes who hasn't won anything of note ever. His one chance to do a SAF/Aberdeen was in the FA Cup final against Chelsea and his side bottled it.

Give him to the end of the season and we may be so deep in the shit its unreal. We bemoan the fact we may get Baines. I got news for you folks. Baines and Everton have a better shot at Europe (and I'm talking about the friggen Europa league, not even the CL) than United do right now so why would he want to spend his final years as a professional footballer with Mid table Moyes.

Despite my rant, I still think he will get to the end of the season...mainly because SAF won't come out of retirement and we have no other choice.

What kind of company/organization anoints leaders like this. I admire SAF but really...did he consult anyone or just call up Moyes and invite him round of a bit of wine and say 'oh and you're the new boss, cheers'. What the hell kind of hiring process is that.

Yes, we won. Mainly thanks to RVP and others dropping points. I simply trying to say that I could see the cracks start to appear and hoped they would be fixed, but they have not. That could be down to injuries or some of the players not being good enough.

We got 89 points and that's with easing up at the end.

This season we're on course for 65.

We will see, hope that you are correct.

Which other top club boss is a bully? Seeing as this seems to be an important criteria for success.

I agree. He wanted to spend more of it in the last transfer window too. We'll never know if it was our limited budget or shoddy planning that that held us back there though.

Something else that annoyed me a little was he said he was hoping "to hold onto what we had and get a replay" after going down to 10 men, that didn't sit right with me because I was thinking a United manager should be looking to win games even when the odds are against him.

Mourinho, Klopp, Wenger can be an absolute wanker, Pardew. Big Sam will give it both barrels to officials too. Loads of managers get sent off for abusing the officiating staff.
