Moyes' first signing?

Why talk about the England squad in a thread about Moyes first signing?

 i was replying to the 2 people who posted above me. Looking back I probably didnt make it clear enough i meant the England team.

Out: Scholes, Fletcher, Rooney, Bebe

In: Zaha, Fabio, Modric, Benteke

Would this be satisfying?

------------------------DDG---------------------
Rafael---------Vidic--------Jones--------Evra
----------------Carrick------Modric-------------
Valencia-----------------------------------Nani
-------------------RvP------Benteke-----------

I think Benteke and RVP play in too similar a position, good player though, Chelsea should look at him if they can't get Falcao/Lewandowski.

Doubt Moyes favours 4-4-2.

IMO every formation with four at the back is the same, it's just a matter of how much freedom players are assigned. Play RvP behind Benteke if you'd like that.

Nope I wouldn't. RvP in the hole would be a mistake & so would signing Benteke.

Why's that? His game at the weekend was his 2nd best in almost three month and he looked more than capable of striking up a regular partnership with Hernández on plenty of other occasions.

Pretty sure Rodgers did the same with Swansea and then took Joe Allen.

I doubt Moyes will do the same though, mainly because we don't need Baines and I think we can do better than Fellaini. I used to want him but have changed my mind recently.

I think this summers targets are already nailed on, probably have been since January or so. No doubt he will have final say on the player but we probably already know who's on the way.

isnt this what so many people criticized? the manager should decide

I thought he'd promised not to take Sigurðsson and then took Allen? Still sneaky as feck mind, Swansea have coped well considering they lost Sigurðsson, Allen AND Sinclair last year.

Anyway I agree, can't be Moyes poaching from Everton, as much as I'd quite like to see Fellaini or even Mirallas (better than Young surely) come here.

A bit of good news ;)

Not sure how this works in practise though, nothing to stop any other club unsettling them is there?

Why would Moyes agree anything when he is out of contract before he takes over at his new club? He's a free agent so there's nothing forcing him to do anything.

If he wants these players then he'll try to sign them. His job will be at United, not at Everton.

I think formations are very flawed because they don't tell the full story but your idea makes it even more stupid. Their point is to describe a tactic in as few words as possible, 11 names in a rectangle. It has obvious weaknesses much like quotes, but it is still a very efficient way to give all the viewers a shallow understanding of things.

A 4-2-3-1 is a very slight variation of 4-4-2 but it still says a lot to the viewers.
1. The wingers will/may be more narrow than a 4-4-2.
2. The CM's will most probably be less offensive than in a 4-4-2

Warchest.

True, but maybe he has no interest in them now so he doesn't mind signing that.

I mean, between the papers, we're interested in Fellaini, Baines and Jagielka now. Seriously?

War! uh chest
What is it used for?
Absolutely nothing
Say it again y'all

Jagielka is of no need to us...if there is one position we don't need players, that's it. Baines - good enough but why sign a 29 year old Baines for a lot of money when he doesn't improve us a lot.

Fellaini - good enough - but certainly not the best option around.

So no - I don't think Moyes is that interested. And perhaps he simply agreed to let them go out of respect to his old club - knowing he could find equally good alternatives without raiding them.

But if we had been talking Bale here - he would never have agreed to it

I assume the deal would mean - Moyes won't try to take any players with him to United, but if another club comes knocking at Everton's door for Fellaini for example, it would render the deal void.

I've heard a ton of rumours from the known gamblers and general in-the-knows around the City here that we are going to announce a big signing within the next two weeks. The general feeling is that it will be Fabregas.

Just can't see that happening. Would be amazed.

I'm told we've been talking to him for weeks.

(I know these 'my mate' posts get zero credibility on here, and rightly so, but its from a decent source)

Who is the decent source?
My old boss. Head of a large spread betting firm. Loads of contacts in football. Called a few things right in the past, but obviously a lot of these things never come to fruition.

I see.

There's been paper talk of Fabregas joining us and I don't doubt we would be interested if he was on the market.

Do Ronaldo, or if we must settle, Bale and you can bring Benny Hill in as a central midfielder for all I care.

Well, maybe not Benny Hill, but between Kagawa and Cleverley as attacking mids we're fairly well set there -- which is not to say they're the equivalent of Iniesta and Xavi. As for defensive/holding mids, we're still good with Carrick and Jones for another season or two. (I rule out Fletcher coming back, but I suppose it is a remote possibility.)

If there's an opportunity to steal an amazing talent like a Strootman or that other crazy Dutch mid whose name I can't recall at the moment or even Barkley, let's go for it. But the focus shouldn't be, IMHO, on strengthening the squad as such but in bringing in a game-changing talent at or near the level of Ronaldo or Bale. I like what I see in Zaha, but I'm not ready to crown him a game-changer in the English prem just yet.

As for Rooney, he's an incredible talent but he's become (or maybe always has been) a drama queen. If someone can fix his head, great. If not, send him to PSG.
