I don't see how that's tricky. Happens all the time. Players or managers don't have to promote the same brands as their employer, and the brands can't expect clubs to force that upon their employees. Ronaldo is Nike and Real Madrid is Adidas.

So there's no problem at all? I suppose it's pointless discussing this when we don't know what the contracts actually say. But I would have thought, as Penna says, that there'd be some kind of contractual obligation on all prominent United employees to support the Chevrolet relationship (in United's contract with Chevrolet). Or are the Chevys given to the players just a freebie with no obligation to drive them?

JoMo in SM (S)hocker!

Vangle: "It shall not be so easy for you now, with a sex masochist in charge."

Moyes: "Can I be DaMo?"

It's over, guys.

Just had a text from my source and he says if Jose is to be announced as manager before next season then it'll be sometime in the next 3 months.

Is your surname Robinson, by any chance?

Ronaldo is Nike and Real Madrid is Adidas. Nike understands Ronaldo needs to wear an Adidas jersey during matches, and Adidas understands that Real's most important player, as a free individual, plays with Nike boots and advertises for them in his spare time.

These things do have an impact in the clubs finances. Real Madrid would probably receive more money from Adidas if Ronaldo was their representative as well, so they factor into negotiations.

Petr Cech's headgear maker's name had to be removed as it conflicted with the interest of Chelsea's contracted kit supplier, even though they didn't actually have any products of that kind.

Whether the same is true now he's at Arsenal I don't know and can't be bothered to find out.

That actually sounds a bit tricky. How does a club have an exclusive deal to promote Chevrolet when their manager is promoting Jaguar? And how do you resolve it?

By saying "there's no way I'm giving up my Jag for a pile of American crap"?

They're used by a lot of professionals (particularly bankers) and government officials because they're more secure than regular cells.

We might as well derail this thread a little bit more: do you know if Blackberry are still putting out new models? For the general public I mean.

So we cant rule out the possibility that Mourinho is in fact an American spy?

That is a possibility.

Btw financial and regulatory firms also use the BB. It has a better security infrastructure than most other devices

I can understand why the Americans might want an asset close to Abramovich, but what is their angle trying to infiltrate us?

Maybe Woodward is suspected of funding terrorism?

Excuse me guys Ive got to go, Ive got an article to write.

You'd have hoped that the lawyers who negotiated the original contracts with Chevrolet, etc, would have had clauses inserted to allow for situations like this - we have so many contracts with so many sponsors you'd have thought this sort of situation was a high enough risk to have been considered before (e.g. players arriving with personal sponsorship deals).

More important for me is that he has the same agent who represents players we might want to buy / sell. It'll be interesting to see if he has to ditch Mendes as an agent - even if the Glazers were OK with that situation you would have thought, with us being part publicly owned now, that he would need to find a new agent once he signs for us due to it being a massive conflict of interest.

It's 2016 who the hell still has a Blackberry?

He probably got a Blackberry 10 years ago, when it was actually a decent device.
As the years rolled by, because he was comfortable using Blackberry, he just kept buying Blackberry phones.
