Mourinho was pretty classy in that situation IMO

Thought so too. He knows the game. It's not his first rodeo. He's been in this position before. Must still feel slightly embarrassed until the time is called for him to be able to front on the knowledge and process.

I can see why people thinks this whole announcement lacks class. It does. We should really be revelling in out fa cup win. But the fact is if this hadn't broken I'd only be waiting for the announcement. The cup doesn't make up for the disappointment of Van Gaal. Just the other day we threw away the league with a whimper to West Ham. It's onwards and upwards now.

As a Chelsea fan, I hope he cranks up the insanity next season!
You hope he does, but what do you expect will happen?

To me it seems like he's always wanted this job, and now he's in a very good position. He firmly believes that he is a fantastic manager and always wants to prove it, right? United are in dire need of fixing, the rest of the world thinks he's a head case and bound to explode, and the Premier League is full of great managers now. Any man worth their weight would see this as a massive chance to prove them all wrong.
If he can learn to be a bit more respectful, I expect to see a brilliant manager at his best.

Bad timing, good news. Just get the job done, Josè. Points, goals, names, trophys. Excitement.

Sacked. No-one will give a feck and we'll get another manager. :)

We will keep sacking till we find some fecker who can get us in Europe!

That is the United philosophy.

He gave us Martial.

He discovered Rashford.

His handling of De Gea created the possibility for what happened, he signed a 5 year contract.

He discovered talents like Fosu-Mensah and CBJ.

Bastian Fecking Schweinsteiger is still a good player for us.

He gave us the first FA Cup since 2004, Arsenal's record didn't last long because of him.

And he didn't sign stop gaps (whereas most managers would) in positions like CB and RW instead opting to use what he had and wait and target somebody of the highest level because he wants the club to have the best players in the world / best young players.

---

Can't believe that makes you miserable. What have you done for Manchester United that tops that?
Well said! Despite all the disappointments, he did discover fantastic players and it is in United interests to play them. SAF won a cup first before winning the league. This team could have created something. I so hope Mourinho does not kill that and builds on top of it... But I am probably dreaming here.

Mourinho maybe a bit annoyed about the leaks.

Only praised LVG during that interview.

The likes of @Von Mistelroum and @wiz4231 still won't believe it

I was just going through this thread thinking "yeah, but there's nothing official. It's probably all going to blow up in my stupid face" when I saw this comment :P you're totally right, I'll still expect this to not happen until he's doing his first interview as United manager. Then I'll allow myself a few minutes of optimism before deciding that Giggs is under that mask.....

....I should probably just be more optimistic.

whether he's brought us success in the short term or not, we'll be left having pissed off the agent that we've spent the last few years desperately trying to get into bed with. Our saving grace may be our ability to pay over the odds, which is grist to the mill for the likes of Mendes.

What a load of cock...We've been in bed with Mendes for ages, we've stuffed his pockets for years and we'll continue to do so. How much did he make out of the Bebe deal again...

I don't give a shit. Van Gaal made me hate football on those 2 years, and the cherry on the pile of shit was when he said that we need to adjust our objectives/ feck him!

He has known that it is over for him for months now. So, it doesn't change anything to see that BBC thinks that he getting sacked, when he has known it anyway. Club hasn't said anything yet, so it is all fine.

This. He said so much embarrassing shit over the past few months that I don't feel any sympathy for him whatsoever.

They've been asking him questions about his future ever since December, so they were always going to ask him again after the final as it was the last game of our season. There's nothing "official" yet, so if he wasn't bothered by the February BBC report, then he shouldn't be bothered now.

Pretty much. I'm fairly sure him and Fergie are already good mates.

Three years too late. We've finally got the right man.

Predictions were spot on by the way. Mourinho has been done for months and anybody with an ounce of common sense could see it.

I think when he came back second time, he was genuine when he said he wanted to go back to Chelsea. I read a Chelsea forum earlier and interestingly one of their users said that Mourinho first time round was the greatest thing since sliced bread, and although his CV is unreal, they believe his "time in the sun" has come and gone and that particular Mourinho will never be seen again. They still worship him in 90% of cases, but they reckon he has had his time. I still think he is the best manager in the world. You can throw Pep at me, but id argue Mourinho would have won the exact same amount with Barca and Bayern, maybe more.

Would Pep have done the treble with Inter? Or won the CL with Porto? Or walked into a brand new league and country, England, claim to be special and win the thing 2 times in a row. I think not

Yup. Looking forward to more leaked info about how the deal came together in the next few weeks - massive kudos to Woodward if he tied Jose up already in December.

Oh hear we go....with the Caf adamant they want him gone...now comes the sob stories of how it seems to have happened. United have played this impeccably, not like city. However this has leaked out ( and by the way there is no official confirmation by the way) it's not united's doing. Jose? Well...he's the right man for this job right now because of who has been brought in at other clubs. Regardless...we need someone who has wanted this job from around a few years ago when Fergie left....he will fight to succeed because this is the job hes wanted. If he fails...so be it, but his hunger makes me think he should be given the chance....

The way I see it is Spurs finish to the season doesn't mask the fact they had a great run and Poch is a top manager. Likewise, our FA cup win doesn't mask the 2 years of shit I've been watching week in and week out.

It's a shame the news has broke how it has but let's be real, LVG should have gone after the Stoke game and we're now getting a better manager.

This appointment had to happen. LVG did all he could at OT and we needed the top manager of the planet and we got him.

Concerns about Jose's willingness to give young players a chance are well founded but I really do believe he understands what's expected of him.

Great news for red mancunia.

Youth would be the main issue I'd have with him, but I'm also worrying a little bit over his nature to explode. You could argue that the clubs he's worked at have been more hostile:
Chelsea - Abramovich is a control freak from what I've read. Some of the Chelsea players were snidey cnuts too. People class, and I'm hoping he's learned to deal with conflict in a more relaxed manner. We'll have to wait and see.

I work with marketing in a firm in Norway and we got a lot of business in Europe and the US. My firm got no business with Man Utd, just to be clear on that. Though I have a friend working with Adidas in Herzogenaurach in Germany. Hainer had meetings with some of Man Utds powermen in december and after that he informed some in the marketing department that United had signed a new manager who was world class and recently became available.

They now work with marketing for next season. A new manager is very important for the marketing for next season, so thats why they had to know.

I feel 100% confident that I will not look like a ass when we announce something about the manager situation when the season is finished.

Well, at least it shows that MUFC & Woodward planned the Jose signing, well in advance and that this deal wasn't some deal which they were oohing and aahing over.
He became available. We needed him. So he was signed up quickly and our marketing departments began their work, with this in mind, for the following season.

You guys are so into "class". Did Jose have class in that Sky interview?

Also, Jose needs a new keys guy. United will sort that.

Remember Jose is a dick, like a proper dick. It'll be fun though.

I am your father, Wayne...

"Ryan Giggs never told you what happened to your father."

"He told me enough. He told me he used to play free-flowing attack football, and then you philosophised him."

Seriously hope Jose looks at the United way and builds a new era. It's an exciting time. I do have to say ( lvg is as mad as a marsh mare and made me laugh a lot )
Hello City.... we have your new managers worst nightmare

You've gone from Emperor Palpatine to Jar Jar Binks to Jabba and now you're getting Vader.

edit: to carry on with the dumb star wars theme, somewhere, Twigginater is in a dark room screaming "Noooooooooooooooo".

That is some brilliant analogy

Fergie as Palpatine
Moyes as Jar Jar
LVG as Jabba
Mourinho as Vader
Twigginater as luke who is having a big traumatic experience

All spot on

As a star wars fan I thank you for this, just brilliant :D

I prefer:

Wayne: 'If you don't play me, then you are my enemy'.

Mourinho: 'Only a cnut deals in philosophy. I will do what I must'

Ed: 'Send you to China, I will'.
