Morgan Schneiderlin | Everton Player

He has never been given a real chance. Him and Depay 30 minutes in PL this season combined. Fantastic signing for whoever gets him.
Van Gaal gave him enough chance to prove himself, and he rarely did.

Mou has rarely played him, probably because he is not happy with what he sees on the training ground week in week out. Schneiderlin is nowhere near Pogba, Herrera (his main competitior), or Carrick. Mou prefers Fellaini when we need to close a game.

Why do you think he hasn't? He obviously hasn't impressed in training. When Fellaini gets more chances than you, you're definitely not doing something right.

Or your manager makes a mistake?

Weird signing because he isn't better than Carrick, so I think we should never have signed him especially when we had Blind for back up to the DM position

Too good/expensive to be a back up player

Agree that Carrick and Herrera are better, we should never have signed him imo when we still had Carrick.

We should have signed no one then. I think morgan is not a specialist but a multifunctional player. He can do a bit of everything but doesnt have a speciality. He cant pass like carrick, cant go box to box like herrera or playmake like pogba.
Its not his fault but he never stood out. he never looked like he belonged here. I hope he has a good future just not against us.

He had a good season behind him at Soton when we signed him and Herrera was not as influential back then, so the signing made sense. Now it is more about recouping as much money as possible to invest in Carrick's replacement. (Weigl? Paredes? Bakayoko? Carvalho? But that is for another thread). 18m seems a bit low for a proven international who will be on the market in January.

Not really. Sometimes managers don't fancy players for whatever reasons. Nothing is definitely "obvious". Herrera was nearly drowned out by LvG now he's a mainstay in our starting eleven. Managers aren't infallible.

Schneiderlin never really got a go here, and I feel like chances are he will be good wherever he ends up.

His signing almost felt like LvG was reading internet forums. It didn't really make sense.

And that will be because he'll go to a team a few levels below United, where he will be more comfortable.

Makes little sense in my opinion. We now have 3 midfield players in a team that plays with 3 midfielders, what are we going to do once the inevitable injury hits us lol?

For £13m I would take him at Spurs ... except we no longer need a DM, now that we have Dier and Wanyama.

Batsian Fellani and hopefully Fosu Mensah, there is also Periera but I hope he stays out on loan

Everton offer 40 million pounds to Manchester United for Depay and Schneiderlin

The January transfer market could be a good opportunity for Everton to reinforce Ronald Koeman’s squad. The objectives for January include two big players, and Everton is willing to spend a substantial about of money. According to Joseph Musker, Everton has offered 40 million pounds to Manchester United for both Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin. These are two important players who have found themselves at the margins of Mourinho’s project. The offer is a serious one, and now Manchester United must decide whether or not to sell the two players. The result of such a transfer would leave Manchester United making a loss given that they spent 75 million to acquire the two players in the summer of 2015.

I am not sure if this is pounds or euros as some are reporting it as euros. Also unsre about 75 million paid for both of the as i think it was close to 48 million. Still Di marzio is god of transfer news so he must have definite info to post this.

Would take that bid in all seriousness if its in pounds. Its a good amount and covers for lindelof money. Its good value we get for two non starters for us.

The two games which standout as Schneiderlin's worst performances for United are Liverpool away in the Europa League where we were lucky to be only 1-0 down at half time and the final match at Upton Park last season where he gave the ball away for their first goal and then failed to track the runner where he was subsequently hauled off at half time.

The bigger the occassion, the worse he played which only supports the claim he is not mentally tough enough to be a United player. There is one thing being limited on the ball but he failed to do his bread and butter stuff like closing down the players or tracking the runners and being an energetic presence in midfield when the going got tough.

His best game for us was possibly against Arsenal at home where he nullified Ozil but he was still responsible for the two goals we gave away.

He will go down as a big disappointment for us but still admire the fact that he hasn't spoke a word to the media about his lack of chances.

I'm not sure if there's been a player who was forgotten more quickly than Morgan will be after he leaves.

Eh, United hasn't exactly been lighting up the table for the past 3 years, and I always thought the importance of "pressure" at big clubs has been overrated and overstated. If anything I'd guess that a substantial amount of players are raring to go when at big clubs rather than at smaller teams. If he does well, to me, it's because he's a good player.

Take it and run indeed. Run like bandits. We are getting away with murder here.

On what planet did we pay 75 million for Schneiderlin and Depay? Such rubbish doesn't inspire confidence in the 40 million offer from Everton - which I would like to believe. :smirk:

I think Schneiderlin was £25m and depay something like £23m rising to £31m based on bonuses he probably hasn't met. Must be some creative calculations to get 75....

If 40 million is true on its own that sounds like a decent offer, won't try and compare to Oscar as it will make me feel dizzy. I would say 45 million take it or leave it. I still think Depay will turn out to be a decent player and Everton will get a good deal for the money.

£40M is very reasonable for two players that haven't done a thing for 18 months.
In this market, I'd argue to the contrary. We paid £28m for Fellaini and Everton just paid £30m for Bolasie, not to mention they sold Stones for £50m so have the cash at hand. Our two players who at least have a history of strong performance is only worth £10-12m more together than those guys individually? We should be holding out for at least £50m in this market.

40m for both seems decent enough. But now, can we just sign the Chelsea guy who handle the job of selling their players? That should be the priority now. Get him on board now!

The buzz when he signed when you think about it was weird. A solid Southampton player was always going to struggle at least at first. He still hasn't settled though and has just turned into a disappointment.

If that Everton offer is credible, we should take it and run.

40 mil pounds for 2 bench-warmers basically is a steal for us.

People say he has been shit or not our club level bla bla then thought it was ridiculous when someone bid him 13m? I mean he hasn't been playing much for us this season.

Why would a club would pay much for a player like him? No top clubs are bidding for him. Which tells you something. Around 15m would be a very decent price for us.

Money with/for transfers is not exactly a problem for us. We need to lower wage bill for new players.
