Vidal is also 28, has had a big injury, and will give a maximum of two or three years before he slows down at the most. His game is based almost purely on hard running and power, and he's pretty reckless in the way he goes about things on and even off the pitch if that car crash in Chile was anything to go by. Close to 25m for that isn't a great deal, not when we've already got Schweinsteiger, who plays in pretty much the same manner. Schneiderlin would be able to come in and learn from a quality deeplying playmaker in Carrick, and in Schweinsteiger he has the perfect role model to expand his game. He can play in both roles perfectly well and can get enough games spotting both of these players, with the long-term aim of replacing Carrick.

As I said, it's a no-brainer. Both in terms of logistics and the age profile of the squad. Not to mention the homegrown rules too

I think Vidal is attainable at that price, yes. And yes he is considerably better than Schneiderlin at pretty much everything.

There is a reason for this. Continental players comes cheaper for the same quality.

I actually disagree with this, Vidal is the better player, but in the defensive aspect I think Schneiderlin edges it

Schneiderlin is twice the player defensively. Vidal is an attacking player with some defensive skills, mainly being combative and putting in a tackle. Theres a lot more to defending than that

Obviously the opposite is true going forward. Vidal is miles better going forward than Schneiderlin. But we need a defensive player not an attacking one.

Schneiderlin is 2 years younger than Vidal. He has a great engine. I doubt that he'll be worse player in 2-3 years than Schneiderlin, but I guess we can agree to disagree there. He's the more explosive player hence it looks like he's reckless, he has 1 red in 3 years in Juve and isn't booked every other game like Ramos.

Vidal-Schweinsteiger-Herrera is miles better than any combination including Schneiderlin right now.

We can agree to disagree I guess. IMO Vidal is the better player defensively and has done it at a higher level as well - CL, Copa America, World Cup...

This highest level shite is a load of bollocks. Just because he hasn't played in the CL doesn't mean shit, he has regularly dominated matches against Chelsea, Arsenal, City and us. All CL teams but because he does it in the PL it doesn't count?

Aye it's nonsense. Not to mention that the majority of international fixtures are against teams that wouldn't even get promotion to the PL.

This is simply not true. And that is before you factor in that last years Vidal was a coulple of steps below the Vidal of the two years before.

I say that as a huge Vidal fan.

It's time we signed him, then went for Dexter Blackstock. Then we can do our best John Lithgow impersonation and say, 'Hello, Dexter Morgan'.

Yes, it's terrible.

I agree that last years Vidal was not the same level as the previous years but he was still better than Schneiderlin.

Schneiderlin IMO faded out a bit in the end of the season before he picked an injury.

It's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I completely disagree.

I've had some pretty feeble attempts at making funnies myself, but that is hands down the worst try I've seen at the Caf to date. Well done!

This'll be the one that goes the distance imo. Deadline day signing :(

Betting suspension doesn't mean much though as far as actual transfer go/no-go is concerned.

So AFC Press Watch (a guy who sees all the press reports and newspaper back pages before everyone else) on Twitter has said the two teams have agreed a fee for Schneiderlin. Take from that what you will.

You were just typing whatever came in to your head wasn't you?

The horrible truth is I've thought about it a few days ago and it just came back to me. There was a safety mechanism to stop me from posting it and it still didn't work. :(

Why not put that in the Twitter thread with the tweet?

Have people seen the tweet regarding blood smaples?

Yeah it's a screenshot of a snapchat. Could literally have been set up and taken in any surgery or hospital anywhere in the world.

Finally found the picture in question. If it's true, then I feel sorry for the poor sod who took the pic. He could be out of a job.

If his choices are
A/ earn great money play cl football and have to compete against coqulein and arteta for a starting spot
B/ earn great money play cl football and have to compete against Carrick and Schweinsteiger for a starting spot
It wouldn't shock me if he went to the bright lights of london

Fake blood sample photos? Just when you think social media can't get more crazy.

He'll definitely leave Southampton this summer. Wenger is a big draw as far as arsenal are concerned but I think the chance to come to United which is a giant club similar to Madrid and barca, is too hard to resist.
