Why would Brighton want Amad on a loan? They rather buy a player on the cheap and sell that player for big money later. I believe that Brighton is in the business of developing their own players and not into developing Manchester United players for Manchester United.

I will be more than happy if we sign Caicedo, but I find it kind of funny that posters are happy with us paying £80m ish for a 21 year old who has had 1 good season, as opposed to £60m ish for a 24 year old who last season aside has been one of the best PL mids in the preceding seasons.
For me Caicedo and Mount are very different players, I think Mount provides cover across the front of midfield, in particular for Eriksen who cannot manage another 60 game season, whereas Caicedo probably provides more direct cover for Casemiro, ideally I would love us to sign both, I feel we probably need Caicedo more but I really do not see it as an either or....
Say we have 6 midfield positions, if we play 60 games next season this is effectively 360 games for midfield positions, currently these are covered by 6 players who are able to consistently deliver quality Casemiro, Bruno, Eriksen, Rashford, Garnacho, Antony, if we rely on those alone it is 60 games each.... so last season we were reducing this using Sancho, Fred and McT.... (also this does not account for Rashford playing as a striker) none of whom really showed enough to warrant 1st team starts, if we sign Mount, Caicedo and Amad plays well that is still 40 games each, so 2 mids plus Amad seems very reasonable, just hope we can shift Sancho, Fred and McT

I was about to ask you guys about him, since other chelsea accounts quote him. But regardless, legit sources said Brighton value him at "over 80m" so its a reasonable guess. I dont think it will be anywhere near 100m.

Him going to Chelsea is one of the most nailed on transfers this summer. Not a chance we’re getting into a bidding war. Chelsea have spent ridiculous amounts of upto half a billon on some real dross in the last 18 months or so. They aren’t going to suddenly walk away from Brighton wanting £80m(ish) for one of the best midfielders in the league last season.
Caicedo to Chelsea is a done deal. Just like Mount to Utd is.
And they have Julio Enciso - 19 year old forward who got 4 goals and 2 assists in 800~ minutes last season. Rather than bothering rearing Amad only for him to back to Man Utd the next season, they'd be much better spending their efforts on their own player who'll undoubtedly fetch a big fee if his progression continues in a few years.
The years of mid-table clubs (or even lower!) taking big teams youth players -- especially attacking ones -- are very much in the past. 'Smaller' clubs either 1. have their own talents now, or 2. have the money to go out and buy their own.

Pretty sure that's illegal. If the deal is done, it has to be announced. They can delay a couple of days but not much beyond that.

For me, if we get Caicedo, it's a crucial signing, similar to Kante in the past for Chelsea. He'll improve all the clubs that are in for him.
