Has the guy even played a full season in the EPL yet? Can't imagine Brighton fans have any reason to feel too grateful to him...
Why would Brighton walk into that swap, let alone an obligation to buy McTominay?
We need to get creative... Loan swap with Mctominay, then an obligation to buy in the summer.
The obligation would be us buying Caicedo (we can't afford him now). There's only a couple of days left of the window, so at least they'd get a midfield replacement...Why would Brighton walk into that swap, let alone an obligation to buy McTominay?
Sure, knock yourself outThe obligation would be us buying Caicedo (we can't afford him now). There's only a couple of days left of the window, so at least they'd get a midfield replacement...
Just let me dream.
I've had a quick snoop on there and while it appears that they are understandably irked by this, they have also pointed out that Evan Ferguson liked his posts so they are not feeling the love toward him either.@The Boy what’s the mood like over on north stand chat?
Not him but we are pretty furious. In the last six months we’ve lost last year’s player of the season (Cucurella), our manager, our technical director, our head of recruitment and his entire team, our entire backroom coaching staff including a club legend (Bruno), our current top scorer (Trossard) and now Caicedo.
Oh and one of our most promising young team players Enock Mwepu was forced to suddenly retire due to a serious heart condition.
The same Moises Cai who, on Wednesday(!) said:
“I am focussed on Brighton,” he said. “I am here, I’m playing every day. Things from outside don’t trouble me, nor does it take that focus away because I’m focussed only on here.
“I handle [the speculation] well. You hear rumours here and there, but I only try to be focused on the club where I am now, the club which opened the doors for me to be playing every week.” (https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/news/3036059/caicedo-i-am-focussed-on-albion/)
All of this happening during our best season in top flight history, our only replacement signings since losing Trossard, Mwepu and now Caicedo being two 18 year old prospects from the League of Ireland and a 17 year old Argentinian.
It’s fair to say we feel pretty hard done by thanks to the money clubs.

His new agent must have pressured him to do this to force a January move. He must see the opportunity to lift the PL trophy as too good to turn down and wait for a summer move. Not him but we are pretty furious. I feel your pain. I’m still getting over losing Barkley, Stones, Lukaku and Deulofeu in the space of a few years. It’s rough.

Posted on instagram that he wants to leave.
edit: Actually sounds like he has already left.
The sheer amount of losses to bigger clubs that Brighton have incurred in the last six months is quite literally unprecedented. Even Southampton, who lost many key players, did so over a longer period and managed to protect most of their vital infrastructure behind the scenes.
Brighton assets are just about the most in-demand in world football. And it won’t end soon.
Sanchez, Mitoma, MacAllister, Estupinan, Ferguson are already being coveted. There are only so many players any club can lose and remain competitive. And eventually, inevitably, the club (stripped of its recruitment team and infrastructure, remember) will stop striking gold with these bargains.
It’s just a real shame for football clubs like ours outside of the “Big Six” that this can happen.
Do you think the clubs you are buying these players from in the first place are delighted to see their players leave?
Out of all the signings made in the last five years by the club, there was exactly one where the player forced the move in order to join us. That player was Tariq Lamptey from Chelsea, who joined in order to get first team football as he felt his chances at Chelsea were slim. We paid £4m as his contract wound down and he chose us for football reasons (more money on the table to stay in Chelsea U23’s).
Otherwise, our entire transfer model is based around having a good reputation as a buying club; it was this very thing which got us Caicedo, MacAllister and others - who all joined with the club having matched release clauses designed for this very purpose (a transfer to the PL).
What is particularly egregious about the current situation is that Potter left just a handful of games into the season, after having the whole summer to rebuild, leaving us up **** creek.
Caicedo has now pulled this stunt with fewer than five days remaining in the transfer window, leaving very little time to find a replacement, and having posted a very, very strange statement on social media immediately severing any good will between the club and fans before a deal has been announced (or perhaps even struck).
It leaves a very sour taste.
Hahahahaha omg, I don’t really watch Family Guy, but that’s pretty damn funny.Oh come on now, don't lose faith....
It's like Peter Griffin said to his daughter Meg, "you're what they call a practice girl"
OK, I don't think those clubs actively wanted to sell their players, but were happy to receive fantastic money in exchange. I'm not sure how that's different to what is happening with y'all just because you have "good relationships" with the clubs you're buying from. What should Arsenal do, wine and dine Mr Bloom for a few months and then come back in for Caicedo so they can feel clean about it? Like, I get it, it sucks to lose your best players, but there's nothing new or underhanded about it and I guess I'm just not sure who is at fault and for what.
I agree with you that players pulling these kinds of stunts is not cool, but that's not Arsenal's fault, either. I fully can see why the Potter stuff has you upset, though.

If I recall correctly he was offered to us when Ole was manager and came highly recommended by Antonio Valencia who had done all the touting for us. We (Ole and the recruitment staff) were not interested and Brighton snapped him up - the rest as they say is history. Forward wind to Jan 2022 and the same incompetence was repeated with the likes of Alvarez and Enzo.Just sums up this club in a nutshell.
Probably not true but I found a comment under the Instagram post that he's been paid £3k a week at Brighton
If this is true then they better give him a better contract or let him go

He's great but as usual the reaction on here is so massively over the top feels like if any player ever goes to another club he's a generational talent that missing out on will cost us dearly and we'll never recover.
If I remember correctly there was interest but there was a situation regarding the ownership of the player, or I might have been dreaming :-)If I recall correctly he was offered to us when Ole was manager and came highly recommended by Antonio Valencia who had done all the touting for us. Yeah he did, but hen players do very well they usually get an improved contract as an incentive to stay, Arsenal are probably going to pay him 25x+ that so it's hardly surprising he'd want to goWhy?
I'd agree he's grossly underpaid, but he signed a contract.
