Us, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Meh, we seemed much more intrested in mount, Arsenal seem to want Rice more. There hardly seems a genuine fight for him or a bidding war & it feels like Chelsea has quite a free run at him & all there is is a few media links otherwise.

The system being talked is about going after the opposition extremely high up the pitch in swarms where everyone pressing has a specific job to do and it’s absolutely imperative that nobody makes a mistake or slacks off. If done correctly, it strangles the life out of the opposition and gives your teams’ DM less work to do as all he has to keep eye on then is positional exploits and sweeping up loose balls. The ball constantly gets recycled up the pitch and eventually the pressure will tell.

If, you do not press uniformly or have all players on the same page, that same principle backfires and the DM’s workload is unmanageable and he will be overrun, hence we have to be water tight, no ifs or buts.

We did not engage in the kind of pressing envisioned, last season, but the little pressing we attempted we were not good at with players switching off from menial tasks left right and centre.

If we go for this and get it wrong, Casemiro will be the biggest casualty and we’ll compromise the one universally agreed upon world class midfielder we have.

Definitely agree but that's where ETH earns his money, no?

Looks like Chelsea could be on course for a good season by their standards - might even manage a top half finish.

That's not bad at all. We could be in the top 4 by 2028 and title winners in 2030.

Not sure about the source but £75 million...

If you actually believe he's not as good as Bissouma then you need your head checked. He only played 8 PL games for Brighton prior to this season but was clearly the better player when they played together. I remember thinking so when we played them in May 2021 at their place and we were linked with Bissouma.

Besides, the proof is in the pudding. Bissouma ended up on Spurs bench and might get sold already, Caicedo wanted by the biggest clubs in the league for top money. Either everyone else is wrong, or you are.

Spurs under Conte in the Champions League when he signed tbf.

I reckon they are similar level of player. I'm not going to try and convince you but I'll look forward to being proved right next season :)

Not as talented as Rice, but £75m is a good deal considering what Havertz and mount went for.

I wonder what Chelsea intention was before when they wanted Urgarte? Perhaps that was a smoke screen that PSG fell for for Caicedo

Just a tad ay

Yves Bissouma from 2021/2022 outperformed what Caicedo this season by nearly every metric. Then Bissouma went to a team that try to dominate the ball and got shown up just as Caicedo will do but it'll be worse for Caicedo as Bissouma at least has a degree of quality on the ball.

You think Conte's Tottenham played more possesion orientated/dominant football than Potter's Brighton?

If only we could sign him on top of Mount. How I wish. He would be perfect for us. Our midfield would be so much balanced and with so many quality combinations to choose from. Casemiro, Bruno, Caicedo, Eriksen, Mount. Honestly, he would complete our midfield.

That could've happened if we prioritised Caicedo, and waited until next year for Mount on a free. It would been the more logical option financially, but the club has a hard on for burning money so logic doesn't come into it.

I think it’s a good point about Bissouma, he was a classic PL proven, reliable midfield signing. And he crumbled straight away. But I’d say it’s worth noting that Caicedo played almost twice as many progressive passes per 90, likewise for PgR (which I assume means receiving the ball in progressive areas, or looked at another way he made significantly more passes in midfield and attacking areas. He showed a level of comfort in possession that Bissouma didn’t have, and it was Bissouma’s lack of composure that caused him to flail and lose confidence so quickly. Caicedo’s unlikely to face the same problem.

I mean I'm not sure that's a great source, but even if he's right he's said £75m is the fixed amount. I'd imagine there's some add-ons involved to take it close to £100m.

Brighton will want something like that after the Rice deal.

That would still be a good deal because if those adds on are met, then it means that Caicedo has helped Chelsea achieve the targets they set our for the duration of the contract. £75m fixed for a player of Caicedo quality when you compare to what others like Havertz, mount, rice are going for is a good deql

I wouldn't say that at all.
Offensively, rice definitely has more to his game. Plus rice has leadership quality, stronger build, aerial prowess and can read the game extremely well. However, if I want a defensive midfielder, I would favor Caceido. Rice has nore in his locker than Caicedo. With Caicedo, you already know what you will get, which is a midfield destroyer.

Caicedo is much more than a destroyer. He's very good in possession and has it in him to develop into an Essien type of player should his coach wish to use him in that way.

Chelsea making us look like even bigger dopes, effortlessly.

Enzo and Caecedo is a midfield combination that has enormous potential. Thankfully their attack is not great but midfield is shaping up nicely.

By buying a player?
Well their logic is quite simple Caicedo for them is the better player and they are also pretty much convinced that he is better suited to United needs who gives a damn what Manager thinks or wants .

They just Know better and to add final insult to the injury Somehow United are also Financing their Caicedo pursuit by Buying Mount which absolutely makes no sense but who cares about the facts right .
