Caicedo Enzo will sort their midfield out for the next decade. The tactical flexibility is endless, you can stick a 10 in front of them, play another 8 with Caicedo as the 6, play another 6 with Caicedo as the more defensive 8, in any set up that's a robust, comfortable in possession midfield. Having someone who is adept at covering Enzo biggest weakness - being ran at aggressively- will free up the latter to flourish.

I hope it doesn't happen, but my gut feeling is if this transfer comes through, next time we play them, their midfield will outwork and outpass ours, if we do end up playing Casemiro/Mount/Bruno.

Did you ignore the fact that we need more goal threat/goals where Mount is much better? Ok. ETH want's a hybrid with goal threat, not natural positions. When will people realize. Mount for half the money is much better deal than Caicedo, it is simple as that.

Great, my point is ETH is a lunatic if he thinks that. Not going to argue Mount isn't a goal threat, he no doubt makes us more dangerous in the final third. I will argue that we are going to get fecking embarrassed in the midfield by a team that can win the ball back quickly and retain it if we are just going to play a hybrid forward and a gunslinging 10 (neither of which are particularly neat with the ball) as our "attacking 8's" in front of a 6 that is also quite loose and gung ho with his passing. But hey hopefully we can keep beating Arsenal/City/Liverpool with 30 % possession I guess.

Do you care more about fancy possession numbers than winning the games?

Jesus why so many hell bent of the fees. Yes a good player premium for being English. Some making out like it’s coming out of their pocket. Bloody snowflakes

Goal threat my arse. If you want goals you should have proper forwards. Will be sickening to lose out on Caicedo.

It seems buying mediocre English players is a disease that ETH has also inherited.

Will say it again, ETH wants two 8s in front of a 6. It's his choice to play that way. Given he wants to play that way, it's not rocket science to see why Mount would be higher on our list. You lot should stop crying.

That won't happen

Same as the caceido fanboys, more fans than managers aswell.
Let's compare notes in a couple of years, when the trajectory of Caicedo's career sees him joining RM/Bayern and we are looking to offload Mount but can't because no one is stupid enough to pay his extravagant wages.

You wanted Bissouma who was last years Caicedo. I remember your post for some reason.
Fans who pretend these players are certs or must haves, that’s not even including 80 plus million after one season, gets tiring to read after a while.

Sorry, in your version of the world we sign this guy for £90m+ only to keep him a few years before flogging him to RM/Bayern just as he's hitting his prime?

I wonder why neither team are in for him now?

Most overrated player on CAF that too by some margin currently , good young player with plenty to prove might even become world class but way some of the posters go on about him is as if he is some sort of unmissable generational talent calm down he is good but not that good .

who would sign instead, assuming he’s going to be signed as an ‘understudy’ to Casemiro?

proven pl performer for an exciting attacking team, you can understand why so many want to sign him and I can’t see many others of his ability and age to be perfectly honest.

Not saying he’s a generational talent

We are not in the market for generational talents. The Bellinghams and Haalands don't even consider us. That why we should get talents which are at least next tier.

So we shouldn't buy such players for whom the biggest clubs may come calling one day?

You can't sign Caicedo as an understudy. He's going to cost more than Declan Rice!

Nkunku is slotted to be the 10. With Caicedo and Enzo, it really is very flexible with how they could be used. I just hope Poch has a clear vision. I am really worn out with the years of changes every week.

Caicedo is obviously a very good player, but have you all considered why none of Arsenal, City and Liverpool have gone for him when they all need a player like him?

I just keep thinking about that. I can see Mount, Bruno and casa give the Liverpool, Arsenal midfields a hard game. But if Caicedo hits the ground running him and Enzo will give our guys a hard time.

Caicedo is obviously a very good player, but are people not surprised none of Arsenal, City and Liverpool have gone for him when they all need a player like him?

Arsenal tried to sign him in Jan though. Rice is older with more experience so when you have a war chest you choose him. Caicedo is 21 and he is not too far off.

Rice has just gone for 105. If you add the usual ‘English player tax’ and experience etc, caicedo will go for 80-90 in my opinion, definitely not more than rice
Don’t forget Madrid we’re able to buy camavinga / tchoameni and Bellingham whilst still having modric / kroos and valderde. That’s an embarrassing array of talent and we have no one near those players, bar Casemiro.
So whilst I said understudy, he’ll get plenty of game time playing with and swapping positions.

Arsenal went for him in Jan
Decided he was too expensive, and then clearly think Rice is a better player/fit

May be because there is a limit on budget and other priorities in these clubs?

Just find the idea you're excited about us spending £90m+ on a player only to sell him after a couple of years, coincidentally just in time for Casemiro's legs to go, bizarre.
What's bizarre is you are unable to understand that the post was meant to highlight the potential Caicedo has and which he will go on to show. Irrespective of where he signs. I would have rather preferred it would have been us as we would have directly benefitted.

English tax is definitely a thing, but Caicedo is a better player than Rice in my opinion. I wouldn't be selling him for a penny less than Rice if I was Brighton. It is apparent that ten Hag wants a different profile of player to Caicedo in Mount and even ignoring the finances involved, it would be unrealistic for us to sign both Mount and Caicedo whilst Casemiro and Fernandes reign supreme. Regardless of what Real Madrid do. This is why a cheaper alternative to Caicedo will be sought and even then probably only in the event that one or both of Fred/McTominay are sold.

May be united are too late and he probably agreed to join us weeks ago so why arsenal backed off too in my opinion.
