Mo Salah

Quote from Salah to LFC TV:

"Last season with Roma we played five at the back and two strikers; I was a second striker, like a number 10," he told LFCTV.
"I have played on the right. Sometimes I go on the left. I can play anywhere up front."

We're at cross purposes. I thought you were talking about Mane.

Do Not care about them signing him at all.

They're far too attack heavy the rest of the team is dog crap. As long as they've got the likes of mignolet, karius, Klavan, Henderson, can, Lucas, Lovren, Moreno etc behind their attack they'll go nowhere.

salah has usually played on the right, more advanced than dzeko

People are quite bitter over their pretty unique announcement aren't they? Kinda proof it's obviously fairly good.

I used to think the same. Then we finished 2nd with Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Sakho and Cissokho

I actually think you can go far just by outscoring teams. Having said that, it makes it a hell of a lot easier if you've got a solid defence. We need a CB, LB and a CM

I suppose it'll be entertaining scoring 4 or 5 a game but conceding 3 :)

You definitely need to strengthen the back line though as I can't see you doing much different from any other season.

Wow. Talk about not knowing WTF you are talking about. It's likely only one, maximum two (Ming and Hendo, if he can stay fit), of those will be starters this coming season, two will be gone and the rest bench warmers. Time for you to invest a little time in research it seems, because they won't be 'behind their attack'.

You scored 101 goals that season. The team you have now doesn't have that many goals in it.

He's a good signing, but he's not gonna win you the league. More than fixing the defence(which short of inventing time travel and signing peak Stam and Nesta, you can't really fix. Not under Klopp, not with your current attacking players), what you absolutely need is a top striker. A box scorer who can break down packed defences.

Here's the thing, we've had defensive frailties for a while now, and in that time we've seen a number of players at the back.

So much so, that I don't think it's a matter of personell as it is training/coaching. Also the system we play, this high energy press, makes us more susceptible to concede. If we played a slower game like United do, it would help. Although it might affect our attacking play.

Still... when alls said and done. Yes, a few signings at the back would help, and there is still time for them. Just because we've opened our summer dealings with offensive players doesn't mean we don't have eyes on defensive players. VVD would have been a nice start but hey... we messed that up.

What I like so far though, is that we're being linked with the right players. Regardless or not if they're true, I haven't seen this in a long time. Aubemeyang, Mbappe, Lacazette, Keita.

Mbappe we've supposedly have a £88million pound bid rejected. Now if thats true everyone will laugh saying "he's not coming to Liverpool" but it's nice to just see us trying. There's nothing wrong with a club rejecting a bid, they have every right to do that.

It's just nice to see the ambition.

Anyway... god knows where this essay came from, but that's my thoughts

So you buying a whole new team then I take it? Apart from your attack the rest of your team is average starters or bench players and that includes can and Henderson. Your defence is bad and keepers are laughable. I'm not worried about liverpool in the slightest next year you'll flop like usual. Especially when you lose mane and salah to Afcon.

You'd think Liverpool just signed Messi's younger twin from the reaction over the last day.

Yes he is a good player, but to already start the "watch next season" remarks is laughable. Just setting themselves up for another massive 'LOL'

An Egyptian version of Mane, isn't he? It's a good purchase, but defensively Salah won't exactly help with gegenpressing.

Also consider the significance of this transfer in terms of £££ spent in PL era per PL title. As i despise Liverpool a lot, mainly due to my older brothers and father supporting them, it's worth pointing this out. Salah is good, will improve their squad, no doubt. Still, Klopp has not addressed the key areas that let them down last season. Odd as you'd think they'd prioritise them.
Chelsea: £256m
Arsenal: £205m
Man United £74m
Liverpool: N/A £1 Billion spent

Notably on a father's day (or thereabouts) I urge you to stop hating your dad and brothers.
:P I know, I know...

 It's shockingly bad. (even by Liverpool standards)

Apparently Liverpool are after the Ox too. If they get him they'll have 3 decent wingers.

Just looks like a fancy Jermaine Pennant to me. Second rate player and shows the status of Liverpool compared to other European sides. Nothing especially exciting at all and they are treating it like they've signed Messi.

Yeah mate. And Herrera is a fancy Robbie Savage.

Hilarious. What a witty club they are... Pure bantz m9. Absolute legends.:lol::lol:

Pure class... Announced. Twitter is stunned.:lol: Clop is a genius. 17/18 is theirs la. Attacking quartet of Salah, Mane, Firmino and Coutinho. A combination of speed, wizardry, tekkerz and teeth. Champz League royalty here to claim back their throne.

It's just a silly video. Get a grip.

Based on clips he looks like he's going to thrive in Klopp's system. Seems to have plenty of natural ability to leave defenders in a twist, and qualities we actually need. I really hope for a second summer in a row Liverpool don't end up signing the kind of player we wished we had (rapid, very good dribblers, good end product etc) as was the case with Mane. We have a lack of players of that ilk especially who are closer to their peak and they seem to have them in abundance.

They were out of everything by February and lost against Hull and Leicester that month. Their final few games were very easy. The teams were either safe or on their holidays; Watford, Stoke, West Ham, etc.

The only thing impressive about Liverpool is their form against the top 6/7 sides. You can always count on them to ruin it against a Palace or Burnley.
Extraordinary biased interpretation of Liverpool's form here.

The dip in form over January and February wasn't a burn out issue. It was a light squad issue. For example, Mané away for a month, Coutinho struggling with injury, Henderson unfit, Sturridge out for periods, Can playing through injury. If the team was burnt out then the strong form wouldn't have returned once certain players returned. Outstanding pressing performances in March wouldn't have happened. Calling it player burn out is just confirmation bias.

Klopp's priority is to have more good players; it won't be to stop pressing. Surrounded by sports science experts and a career history of delivering successful long seasons I'm not sure the 'burned out by February' point really stands up. It appears just one of those lazy lines opposition fans come out with. It simply doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

Irrational...I get it now

Aubameyang.

A few teams are definitely going to be blitzed on the break with him and Mane in the team. Probably City and Arsenal. Pep will be left scratching his head furiously. Wenger will be sat on his bench yanking that zip on his coat not knowing wtf just happened.

So you think AFCON is an annual event ? Tells us all we need to know about your football knowledge. Thanks & goodbye.

I don't mind the Ox if he's signed for £20m. Good competition for Mane and can play in several positions. Been unlucky at Arsenal and only really got a chance when they changed their system. Wenger the deluded fool that he is chose to play Ramsey on the wing instead..

IF we go for him I hope you're right. Not sure we need him though and I'd rather someone already proven in CM.
Proven signings are overrated. Liverpool are building something by utilizing potential. Especially players of the type they need. The only proven player they should look at because he is too good to turn down and affordable is Aubameyang. The rest should be signings like Mane was. Players on the cusp of becoming stars.

We saw what we could do with one winger last season, we now have two. I don't think we need three. I'd rather we splashed that on positions we definitely need to improve on (LB, CB, CM and maybe even striker if we are letting two of our current 5 go), in that context £20m could buy us Tierney for example, thereby solving the LB problem.

Our sales will probably help us to do those things you mentioned and still buy the Ox. I'd rather have the Ox coming off the bench than Woodburn or having to play Origi on the wing is what I'm saying.

But players on the cusp don't always become stars and I don't think we are in the position to take as many chances as clubs such as United, City and Chelsea. For example I'd rather go all out for Naby Keita, who would be absolute gold in our team. Yes he'd cost a lot more than Ox but then we know we're already interested in him so if it's a case of money that additional £20m could be well spent. Agree wholeheartedly on Aubameyang.

Given that y'all play pressing football and also have Europe added to domestic football. You'll probably find two aren't enough tbf

Saw quite a bit of him at Chelsea, and then for Fiorentina. Unless he's massively improved at Roma, he is the epitome of the fast winger who looks amazing on Youtube, but is immensely frustrating to watch on a weekly basis. He's the kind of athletic winger the Premier League has seen a lot of - the type who looks incredible one week and absolute shit the next. The "he has all the ingredients, but if only he could figure it out..." type. They never do.

He's not a particularly good dribbler, unless kicking the ball 10 yards past a defender and trying to recover it himself constitutes good dribbling. His technique and decision-making can fluctuate anywhere between adequate to Bramble, often in the same game. He's at his best in an open game with space to run into, something he won't see a lot of at a big club, especially not in the Premier League.

Pretty sure Rodgers - or the nefarious "transfer committee" at Liverpool - were interested in him before Chelsea came along, so he might get a chance there. I could see him being successful in Klopp's system for a couple of months, leading to lots of hot takes about Klopp vs. Mourinho, and general hysteria, before he inevitably returns to his original level and we pretend those discussions never happened.

The only other feasible "big club" option in England could be Arsenal, if Arsene decides he wants to relive the Theo Walcott Experience (™). They're already reliving every season on a loop, why not take the next step and relive the players that led to them reliving every season? Loops within loops within loops. Feels like something Arsene would be into.
5th post in the thread and spot on.

And you know this better than he does himself ? Right.
Because he's a Roma fan and watched their games

PS: he rarely played on the flank last season. Mostly occupied the center-right areas, playing off Dzeko. Yes he was more advanced than Dzeko a lot of the time, Roma used his pace to stretch defences
