Miscellaneous Reserve/Youth News

Wow, I read on a Huddersfield forum after his first match that he took a better corner than they'd seen all season but I didn't think he be scoring off them.

Would it be fair to say that U18s back line has settled into place after lots of chopping and changing in the first half of the season? Seems like Scott-Tuanzebe-TFM-CBJ is the clear first-choice set at the moment.

Scott's only in there because Reid got injured training with the reserves before the game against West Ham and Fosu Mensah has moved back there because Williams has been injured for the past few weeks.

And there wasn't much chopping and changing going on during the first half of the season. Reid - Tuanzebe - Williams - BJ is the most settled back four we've had at that level for years and years.

Manchester United ‘set to seal transfer of Standard Liege teenage goalkeeper Ilias Moutha Sebtaoui’
United scouts have been impressed by Sebtaoui in recent tournaments. He turned 16 last month and has been followed by Roma, Anderlecht and Newcastle over the past few months. Sebtaoui is poised to join United on July 1.

We really seem to be focussing on recruiting some very good young keepers these days.

Sure? He just turned 18 so should be 18 at the start of next season. Wonder how he has been doing anyway since it looks like de gea might not be our long term keeper.
The cut off for next seasons u18s will be 1-9-97, Milinkovic was born 20-2-97 so is too old

Gribbin, Reid, Redmond and Borthwick Jackson were all involved with the u21 squad for the game against Southampton but didnt make the final squad.

All deserved (you can make a case about Redmond but I think he's the type that will improve massively under Joyce).Hopefully we'll see them there next season.

Manchester United eye move for Benfica's youth team goalkeeper Joao Virginia
Manchester United are mulling over a deal for Benfica's 15-year-old goalkeeper Joao Virginia who has impressed on trial.

Virginia has spent time at the club's Aon Training Complex before - having visited Manchester last summer.

And Portuguese newspaper O Jogo have reported that a deal has been agreed in principal with Virginia expected to arrive at the club soon.

United have already agreed to sign Belgium's Under 16 international goalkeeper Ilias Moutha Sebatoui who is poised to join from Standard Liege in the coming weeks.

Red Devils' scouts have been impressed by Sebtaoui in recent tournaments and watched him in France at the Montaigu Tournament.

He turned 16 last month and has been followed by Roma, Tottenham, Anderlecht and Newcastle over the past few months.

Sebtaoui has represented Belgium at U15 and U16 level and will follow compatriot Indy Boonen from Genk by joining United.

Expect Sebtaoui's deal to be completed soon.We can't sign Virginia before he turns 16 (next season).

Byrne and Sebtaoui would be enough for next season.Never been a fan of having too many GKs at the U18s only to release most of them when they move up.

Anyone know more about Sam Grimshaw?

According to the Daily Fail the manager at his present club spoke about him being invited by the club to go on the U.S tour and basically hinting that we'd be signing him.

I'm very surprised

I'm skeptical to that being true. Why would be bring him on tour over a bunch of players we already have, if we were so interested in him why didn't he spend more than a week on trial and I'm fairly sure trialists can play u21 matches which he wasn't involved in any. Maybe he'll go on tour with the u21s but I'm seriously doubting he'll be going on tour with the first team.

Lets not forget the other former City academy player we picked out of non-league this season who is absolutely rubbish.

Think we'll be short on left back for the Tour with Rojo in Copa America and Shaw potentially with England U21s (I'm not even sure if Grimshaw is a left back but assuming "left side player" means LB/LW).That would make some sense although I would say feck it and let's just bring Borthwick-Jackson or even Kellett I'm sure he wouldn't be against such an opportunity and at least he had professional football experience.

I think Blind, James and Blackett will be our left-back options for the US tour.

Yeah it says he's a left back or left winger. Even with the two of them out we still got Blind, James, Blackett, Young, CBJ even. I don't know but I'll be completely surprised if Sam Grimshaw is on tour.

The article him also said he only came off the bench in their finals. Not even starting for a 9th division side isn't the best of looks.

That's the only reason I could think of.Personally I would rather play Weir at left back on Tour than a non-league 21 years old who's not even in our book.

Our Marveld squad (U15s & U14s mix) will play Doncaster Rovers U15s on their first team stadium (can't remember the name) next Tuesday KO 7pm.It's free entry so anyone around the area can just come and watch.Gomes and Mason Greenwood are in the squad.

I like Kellett but don't think there is any point in signing him as realistically he'll never be good enough and Reece James is just as good if not better. He'll be a great player for Bolton though, I've been really impressed with him. Hope to see him in the PL in the future.

Not sure where this goes:

Manchester United are offering free entry to the Barclays Under-21 Premier League title clash with rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Warren Joyce’s side will lose leadership of the division to Chelsea if the Blues pick up three points at fourth-placed Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Monday evening as the battle to lift the trophy looks certain to go down to the wire.

Despite only having two fixtures left, United have yet to face City in the league this term with the away clash still to be arranged.

The game kicks off at 7pm and there is free entry for all fans

Looks like Angel Gomes scored from a fk.

We lost 2-3.We had around 10 U14s in the squad though (and 1 U13s).Fantastic experience for them to play in a real first team stadium (and even reffed by Howard Webb )

Here was how both teams lined up (if your eyes are that good ;))

Looks like the starting XI was Campbell - Laird,Garner,Max Dunne,Bughail-Mellor - Broadbent,Barlow - Levitt,Gomes(C),McGhee - Greenwood
