Only 2 goals against CE Farners? Shola Shouldretire.

And with that my fate as a Sun journalist is sealed.

He scored 4 in the third match only played in the second half so let's give him another chance  Young n' learning and all that.

Under 14s last group game finished 0-0 so they top the group and will play the quarter final tomorrow.

Just realised Getafe knocked Ajax out with a 3-2 win in the Round of 16.Seems they got a stronger crop than last year (in which we beat them 5-0).

United U12s finished 3rd in the MIC tournament after conceding a late goal in a 0-1 lost against Real Madrid.Would have like to see them live in the final but all in all good exposure and experience for the lads.

United U14s is through to semi final after winning their quarter final 1-0.
(they haven't conceded any goal up until this point but I don't want to bring that fact up to jinx them)

United u14s are through to the final of the Copa Sa Pobla after winning tonights semi final 5-0

Scorers for United in the u14 copa sa pobla semi final were Jayden Reid, Ethan Laird, Mark Helm and Mason Greenwood x2

Have we got a good batch or just not a great level of opposition in this tournament for the u14s?

A strong but young group from the look of the squad list.About 6-7 players in the squad are playing up and we have 2 other good talents currently injured who would have been in the squad and played if it.

The level of the opposition isn't the strongest compared to some other tournaments but there are still some decent teams for example the team we just beat 5-0 beat Valencia in the previous round.

This group (or maybe most of them) will go to another tournament in Italy next month in which there should be some better teams.

U14s won the Copa Sa Pobla final 1-0 with Greenwood scoring the winner. They didn't concede a goal in 9 games in the tournament

Thanks, it's just we seem to struggle even with strong groups at the more junior levels in these type of tournaments, usually physically, so it looks v promising how well both groups did here.

We struggle, because half the squad are usually playing up a year and it's not always the best lads that go.

United u14s Mason Greenwood was top scorer and player of the tournament in the Copa Sa Pobla

I must admit I think some people attach far too much importance on results at this level, it's all about player development and how they turn out at 18-21 which defines the success of the academy.

Don't think that's the case for our academy at all fortunately.Personally I want to see who was Player of the tournament more than who won the tournament.

100% Correct, these tournaments are all about giving the lads experience, both on and off the pitch.

U15s/16s is away at Scotland today to play St.Johnstone.Just saying.

Team: Byrne, Freeman, Thompson, Barrett, J. Dunne, Barlow, Makela, Whelan, Roberts, Gomes, Kenyon

Subs: Boonen, Tanner, Butterworth, M. Dunne, Monteiro

We won 1-0 with a Gomes goal after 31 mins. He also missed an early penalty.

Heard Tuanzebe and Fosu-Mensah very good today as CB partnership. Can't wait to see him making the step up to U21s football next season. If they do well next season who know what will happen after that?

Both of them have great athleticism too, shouldn't have a problem stepping up to the U-21 level imo

One of them will probably end up getting a first team debut next season the way our defenders get injured.

Reece James assisted and scored one direct from corner! Jesse Lingard scored a good goal in the same game.
