Anyone got the scoop on Hugill? Sky transfer centre seems to be suggesting we’ve recalled him?

Who did it say he was recalled from?

He was at Wigan, they ended the loan deal and he has since gone out to Carlisle on loan. Played the full 90 minutes on Tuesday and an article this morning had the manager praising him.

Ah, ok thanks. 2nd hand news but that makes more sense…I knew the Caf would know!

FA Youth Cup tie against Chelsea is set to be played Wednesday 12th at 19:00.

Winner of that tie plays either Fulham or Arsenal away in the quarters.

Mather and Jackson has joined Tranmere Rovers on loan who is fighting relegation on League Two.

That will give room for the likes of Scanlon and Munro in the U21s for the second half of this season I suppose.

Interestingly Fredricson is staying. Maybe we are still being careful with his injury records.

So how many loans we have given to League Two this January?

National League Cup quarter-finalists:

Aldershot
Brighton U21
United U21
Altrincham
Newcastle U21
Leeds U21
Braintree
Sutton

We'll face either Sutton, Brighton or Leeds in the quarters.

A question for those following the Academy closely. It seems like there has been a shift in recruitment over the past 5 years with more emphasis on strong physical attributes?

Players like Gomes, Shoretire, Iqbal and Hansen-Aroen are all technically gifted but lack the pace and power to succeed at the highest level IMO.

The players coming through now seem to have a better physical profile. I’m thinking of Kukonki, Chido, Kone, Fletchers, McAllister, Kamason, Mantato. I’m probably missing some.

Is this a fair observation and is it deliberate?

Anytime I read anything about JJ, it’s that he’s excellent but it also hints that he’s going to go somewhere else.

Then I recently saw one twitter influencer who did a top ten United talents thread which had one of the twins (their names escape me now) in first place but said he was contracted by JJ’s Dad, unhappy with his ranking, to say that the twins were older than they claim. I think Garnacho’s going to be a choir boy compared to what’s coming up the line.

I thought the same. Lovely skills but unable to get away from his marker.
He just turned 14 years old. I think judgements on athleticism are way too early. I think you have to look at the family to really make any sort of estimation. I remember being like a head shorter than some friends, and by the time I got older, I was like almost a head taller than they were. Some kids are like almost maxed out at earlier ages, and some continually grow at a steady pace. Others do so in bunches.

Isn't JJ one of the youngest players of the England squad (in terms of date)?

I think what is good to note is that his skills translate while going at full speed. It's more difficult to operate technically at full speed.

Blimey he just turned 14. No wonder. You make some great points mate, of course yes it's too early to be making judgements.

Looks like JJ Gabriel is leaving. Has deleted any United-related posts as well.

He wouldn't be able to move to Spain for another couple of years, unless the family could prove they were moving for non-footballing reasons. More likely he ends up at City unfortunately.

Hate to lose a talented player but if at 14 you’re using social media to stir it up I’m afraid United might not be the club for you. I also wonder if this has happened because he hasn’t gotten game time with the U18s. Again it’s somewhat unreasonable to expect that at his age, if that is the reason. Anyway good riddance.

Is that his management agency? cringe post. Infact both posts sound a bit entitled, but it's his life he is free to do what he likes. Something always seemed a bit off with him/his management, always too much noise for a kid so young.

One of the reasons we should value Mainoo and be patient.. had every opportunity to do this multiple times and stayed loyal
That's true for almost every top player in England, so many clubs sniffing around. To keep hold of your top talent is probably one of the hardest things right now.
