So, does anyone know what this means for the reserve and youth team players?

As far as I can tell the 9 retained scholars are just all, except Rathbone, the first year scholars who'll obviously just be staying at the U18 level next season and so remaining scholars. I assume
Rathbone not being listed anywhere is just down to him being classed as an U17 Academy student this year?

Paddy McNair and Louis Rowley after having pretty decent ends to the season seem to have been graduated from third year scholars to full professionals while I guess the fact the other two third year scholars (Declan Dalley and Jonny Sutherland) are not on the list confirms they've been released. I heard that Declan Dalley is retiring due to injury problems which is sad to hear. All the others listed as "Offer Contract" seem to be the second year scholars who I guess have been offered professional terms confirming the departure of Barber and O'Hara. Pereira, Janko and Wilson are already listed as retained contract players probably due to being offered professional terms early.

What I was most interested by was how many of our reserve players are listed as "Offer": Blackett, Ekangamene, Gollini, R. James, W. Keane, Lawrence, Rothwell, Thorpe, Weir, Love. Seems quite a lot with a fair few talented players on the list. Anyone know if their is any reason to worry that the likes of Rothwell, Thorpe and Lawrence won't renew their contracts? From the speculation in the Mail and this list I'm sadly resigned to Will Keane moving on.

All what you said are right.Except for O'Hara but I guess it's a typo, should mean Ioannou.O'Hara was an U18s student hence wasn't listed.

If Rothwell,Thorpe or Lawrence don' want to renew their contract, it's their choice. We usually don't offer contract extension for youngsters (who hasn't made his first team step up) before the current contract is about to expired.Funnily our fans always ask the same question every year.

We has agreed for Gollini to leave us this summer.

So Wilson has signed a new contract then according to the list.

His contract wasn't going to expired this summer (he already signed a professional deal at 17 so it would be expired next summer).Lingard still has time on his contract as well. What was written in Transfermarkt isn't always correct.

Think that guy assumed that Wilson's deal is the same as every English youngster in the club - expired when they finish their second-year as an Academy scholar.Wilson is an exception since he already signed his professional deal on his 17th birthday.

Hmm, Nick of ManUtdYouth account on twitter was also saying that Wilson and Lawrence deal were expiring in 2014 and they both will sign a new deal.

Same reason.Unless we're really stupid to offer Wilson only 1 year in his professional deal. For Lawrence yeah his deal is expiring.

The retained and released list above is a far better indication of what really happened than any quote by journalists or youth followers.

Will Keane's been called up to the U-21 team for the Toulon invitational as a replacement for Harry Kane

1-0 Brazil at half time, been quite a stodgy game on what seems to be a pretty small pitch, but for my money England have probably outplayed Brazil marginally. The goal was a double cock-up by Keane and Butland but there's been little else of note in terms of chances. Keane maybe slightly lucky also not to concede a peno for handball but would have been a soft one if it had been given.

One of our youngster Callum Nicholas has decided to sign for Liverpool.

Have no idea whether we released him or he snubbed us.

Wilson, Rothwell and Pearson will definitely be available for preseason tour after England under 19s were beaten in qualifying by a 95th minute o.g. when a draw would have put them through to the full tournament.

Terrific news.

I think all three of them are certs to go on the tour with us along with Janko.

I don't particularly think Pearson goes on tour this year. He hasn't proved himself enough this year, but thats due to him not getting enough game time. I loved him last season though and I would love it if he could go on tour.

England v Brazil u20s about to kick off now BT Sport 1

Did Andreas Pereira play for Brazil in this game? I heard he was called up to their under 20's team.

I didn't see any sign of him, at least not in that game which is the only Brazil game I've seen. It finished 2-1 Brazil and England had a weak second half after playing fairly well in the first half. Ward-Prowse's consolation was an excellent free kick in the last minute.

We released him before the Slovakia trip along with couple of others.Arguably he's the best among the rejected but you have to trust the coach's opinion.Liverpool U18's Sam Hart was the same case last year.

Pereira wasn't called up for Toulon. It's another tournament.Toulon is for 93' born and after the age gap is just too big for him.

Not quite sure it's terrific. I can see the positives from the youth followers point of view as it will probably mean they'll be going on the tour but for the players I think it would have been a great experience to go to the European Championships. You'd have to imagine they'd have a shot as well with an already strong squad being bolstered by Wilson, Pearson and maybe even Rothwell.

Apart from James, Varela and Charni, nobody got significantly more game time than Ben. A single start separates the likes of him, Rothwell, Pereira and Janko. He needed some time to adjust but he kept improving to the point where he was arguably one of our top two players from late March to the end of the season. He'll go on tour.

Someone quote it! I'll be a monkeys uncle if I'm going to give the Daily Turd a click

Will Keane dreams of taking his idol Rio Ferdinand's place at Manchester United
By DOMINIC KING

Michael Kane gives a rueful smile. The subject of coloured footwear has cropped up and has inadvertently led to him revealing his less than flattering nickname.

‘They call me “the referee” because I’m the only one who wears black boots these days,’ the Manchester United defender explains. ‘But I can’t be wearing those bright yellow ones, can I? It’s my job to kick the players wearing bright yellow boots, isn’t it?’

Cue fits of laughter. This is the first time Keane, who is with England’s Under-20s squad at the Toulon Tournament, has given an in-depth interview but the topic of what he puts on his feet gives an insight into his character.

Commanding: Will Keane helped England Under 20s secure a third-place play-off spot after a draw with Columbia

Keane has an old-fashioned approach, a player who enjoys hard work and puts the team first, never searching for compliments; those are values that will serve him well as he strives to put himself in the spotlight at Old Trafford.

This is going to be a big season for the 21-year-old, who grew up idolising Sir Alex Ferguson’s all-conquering sides, particularly as there could be an opening under Louis van Gaal to advertise his talents.

Should Van Gaal listen to advice from his new right-hand man, he will discover that Keane was in contention to make his first appearance in the Barclays Premier League the night Ryan Giggs, in his role as caretaker manager, gave youth its head against Hull City.

‘I was on the bench,’ said Keane, who had loan spells last season at Derby and Blackburn and made one of his two United starts in the League Cup against Aldershot.

‘I thought there was a chance that I was going to play but I was just happy to be involved. I’d have liked to have got on as I think I would have done well.

That's surprising, but then I suppose that's due to the numbers we had. At the start of the season you had the likes of Cole, Tunnicliffe and co playing, Petrucci got games as well amongst others. I felt he needed a full season, for the first half all I can remember was him not getting any chances at all.
