could be. the damage to the house was minimal and has been repaired pretty easily, its the dogs which is very annoying - they were all set to sit so unless someone literally created a line of fire and pushed each dog into it, i dont see how it would have happened.

I've also got no idea why the fire hadn't spread. Thank god it didn't, but it's strange.

Vol said something about half blocks not burning when he put the fire out, so did you build your floor with half blocks?

If not then I've no idea why it hadn't spread. But when I last saw your dogs they were all spread out as well so tbh the fire wouldn't have killed them. Then again like I said my dog who is set to sit regularly warps to me for no reason and starts walking about. He got stuck in my garden yesterday on the other side of a fence.

There is a setting in WorldGuard that I haven't noticed till now, it says:

disable-lava-fire-spread: true
disable-all-fire-spread: false

I assume it has something to do with this, probably to prevent griefing, but that would mean you got lava fire on the top of your tower?

Can't see lava bucket being used beside me and Brocky since it was enabled, so I don't know how that really happened.

Lightning strikes cause fire (about 3-6 fires in one strike), it's also kind of glitched in that it doesn't spread and you can't put it out by hitting it, you have to place and destroy a block to get rid of it.

Maybe it was that?

I can't imagine it was a griefer. Not many play at the moment and everyone who seems to seems solid. Cough Vimmers and Viskahn need to spend more time on. We have a village to build.

On a side note, griefers are so unimaginative. If I wanted to destroy anyones house I'd TNT the feck out of it. I wouldn't remove a few blocks. Ooh. Badboy. I'd set up a redstone TNT trap via pressure plate, connected via redstone to about 5 to 6 TNT blocks randomly placed through the house with the redstone going under the floor. With a sign above the plate saying 'Step here for free cookies.' Then when they logged in and stepped on it.... boom.

I went for a roam around earleir and there are random fires burning in lots of places. I have a feeling that it's lightning strikes and the setting above stopped the fire from spreading.

Like Zarlak said, if it was a griefer, your whole house would have been torched....not just a few blocks. Plus, there has been barely anyone on the server.

In other news, I'm progressing well with my project now;

:D

Brocky is definitely right about the setting, you guys would see the fire from lightning as regular occurrence by now were it not for that. Expect to see little fires all over the place! :D

I'm not sure lightning fire is the same as normal fire though, like I say it's harder to put out and it doesn't even seem to damage the player if you walk in it. I guess it may vary from server to server though. Unsure if your buildings are affected, but if what you reported is to go by it should be fine.

The dynamic map sometimes depresses me a little bit, especially when I think of how much dirt I had to farm to make the groundwork for my castle walls...

Then I bloody scroll up and see Brocky's contraption...ffs its massive, how many blocks to a side is that? puts my grind into perspective to be honest. Its the only thing visible in detail withouth having to zoom in!

It's 192 x 192 x 1. That's 36864 blocks....or 576 stacks!

The size of the thing is an obvious problem....but the fact that it's on water is the worst thing. The only way to lay the blocks is by crouch walking. This makes the laying of the 'floor' very time consuming and a right pain in the ass.

I put that up for the mushrooms to grow under - thought people might want some stew :(

Any chance we can move the spawn area to the middle of the little town where the houses are? It's doing my head in keep having to spawn in the trees and leg it back. Building a house far far away and I have to keep doing /spawn /home /spawn /home.

Sure, give me the coordinates and I'll set it

I've not been on for a while. Mainly for the same reason, nobody was ever on, but also because FIFA and FM 13 have come along.

I will get back into it at some point though. My 'massive earth floor' is almost finished. Another session or two should see it complete and then I can start work on the construction.

Ooh, this update might be enough to spark my interest again! ;)

Aye I need to get back into the swing of things.

Just wondering if anyone would advocate another reset? Not that there is anything particularly wrong with the current server and personally it's probably got my most impressive house to date, but I just find it fun to start afresh with a new seed and see what we can come up with.
