Michael Keane

Ridiculous parallels with Evans at Sunderland. I agree that a Leicester promotion would be perfect in terms of his development as a player.

Yep and will be ready to take over from Rio the following year, not as a starter of course but by then Smalling and Jones will be more senior and Keane can be the 4th/5th CB.

Hit the bar too, except his goal.

And had a good game in general.

Had a poor game today acc to Foxestalk. His distribution was uncharacteristically weak too.

Keane has been called up for England Under-21s, all the right things happening for him this season. Well deserved and great to see.

I was watching England u21's yesterday and wondered to myself when he would be called up to the u21's.

It took one day.

Wonderful news, it's good to see that he's on the right track in his career so far and we can only hope he carrys on progressing.

Can you take a second and wonder to yourself when I will the lottery?

Hopefully it'll only take one day.

From the FA.. "Connor Wickham and Andre Wisdom go off and are replaced by Nathan Delfouneso and debutant Michael Keane 77mins"

So he got his debut!

They were down to 9 men and England winning like 3/4 - 0. Didn't have to do much.

Made one good long pass, but that's about it.

Even if he didn't have much to do. It's good to see him progressing up into the U21's

Could have a busy day his CB partner been sent off after 3 mins. It's live on sky sports 1 by the way.

3 ? Wasn't he sent off before the 2nd minute ? :)

It's more and more looking like United-light (Hull) could be promoted

Maybe I've been drinking, it was after 6 mins that I was writing message so I was just guessing it was about 3 minutes

Leicester more United lite or Hull ?

Hull, just about. All of these players have appeared for Hull this season and either used to play for us or have been on loan...

James Chester, Corry Evans, Robbie Brady, Paul McShane, Ben Amos, Joe Dudgeon, Cameron Stewart. 7.

Leicester have Mike Keane, Matty James, Ritchie De Laet, Danny Drinkwater, Richie Wellens, Jesse Lingard was there briefly, and I suppose we've been interested in Jeff Schlupp. 6 and a half.

Thought he was pretty decent today. Was a tough game but was certainly there best Defender and pretty good in possession for the most part.

Got slightly caught out once/twice if you are being extremely picky. Just needs to be more aggressive at times, especially when pulled out wide or as the man blocking a shot where he needs to make that diving block.

Btw, he has certainly improved in the air defensively since he played for them first time. Gets very good distance on the headers he meets too.

Wikipedia said he left when 14... To me that doesn't count!

Had a bit of a nightmare today, scored an own goal and was caught out postionally for the 2nd.

He is standing out almost as much as Evans, imo. Evans was getting bullied by Victor Moses till last year ffs.

He was good in his loan spell at Sunderland but not sure how exactly was he standing out more ? Called up to International squad ? But, then Evans plays for Norther Ireland so...

Im sorry but he clearly isnt....Sunderland won the title the season. Evans was their young player of the year. Quinn admitted he offered huge money for him after that loan spell. 12 million to be exact.

Evans V Moses doesnt really have any relevance to the point i made does it? I could also say I saw Evans bully Drogba.....

And that's based on what exactly ? Leicester fans after each game almost reckon he is one of their better players if you view their forums, even when they are playing badly. Except for 2 games almost all of his games have been good. Same was the case with Evans too and he also struggled with the same type of striker first in Championship and then in Premiership. Even yesterday despite scoring a own goal most reckon he was their best defender and amongst their best players.

And Sunderland winning the title and Leicester not winning it is irrelevant, as you can hardly blame the CB for it. If anything their recent complete collapse in form shows he has been under a lot more defensive pressure than Evans' was at a cruising team on top.

Also, that alleged bid from Sunderland came for Evans' after he had a Season with them in the Premiership not before.

Keane will go to the Prem loan next season probably and that will be a real test for him, but up until now you can hardly say that Evans' was doing something remarkably different in the Championship than what Keane is doing which is extremely well. Except if you are being a fanboy that is.

I'm with Deco on this one. As well as Keane has done, Evans hardly put a foot wrong during his stint in the Championship and dominated in a way Keane hasn't. Jonny was a year younger as well. But then Keane was nowhere near Evans' level at 17-18 so I guess he is catching up.

I mean now that he has made it, everyone can do retrospective revision but that's simply not true. I didn't follow Evans' at the time as much as i do with Keane (game to game) but i used to follow Sunderland forums from time to time and he was rated just like Keane. "Going to be some player" etc.... Think he conceded one goal after getting pushed off the ball and people wanted him rested for Nosworthy IIRC.

He was a year younger though, so that's a fair point but he was also playing in a team that was cruising at the top and not dropping like pinball and collapsing with 6 points in 33 now in their latest run.

If you think Keane won't reach Evans' level that is fair but he didn't do anything in the Championship atleast that Keane hasn't. Even when Evans' came to the premiership he made a few errors at Sunderland during his short late season loan.

Relative to Keane, it is true. Hardly put a foot wrong is an expression, a testament to how solid he was, of course he made the odd mistake in half a season. Goes without saying. But; he didn't have these one or two moments of....let's call it inexperience, which Keane seems to have every game. They were much fewer and further between. This has feck all to with revisionism, mate. I just call 'em as I see 'em. I rate Keane and think the sum of his talent and dedication will see him continue to blossom into a brilliant player.

He does ? That's news to me because he is amongst their highest rated players almost each game by their fans most games including yesterday where the whole seemed to be rated poorly. And He's not even had 1 shocking error yet.

After most games I only hear Leicester fans saying "he is going to be a excellent player", "Future England International", "too good for us" etc.. and this is in a run of form where you can put Vidic in and it would hardly make a big difference.

It's just people watching him more and being more picky, if you like and i've done this too. But you can do this with pretty much any defender, especially young ones. I didn't watch many games of Evans' and Sunderland in Championship (If any) but reading from respective fan reactions of each club it is almost the same so far.

The only difference so far has been Evans' was highly rated coming from the Youth system and a leader in the youth team vis a vis Keane though who has developed late after growing physically. Thorpe was the one who seemed to get rated more earlier.

I'm with Cevno on this one. How many of you have been watching Keane's matches? Well I'm hardly one to talk I haven't, but if his appearance against Chelsea and Newcastle are anything to go by, and the rave reviews I've read about him on the forums then it's hard to argue that he isn't doing great. They all talk about him being a future united and England centre half and we can't ignore the opinions of fans who watch him week in week out.

I can't personally make any comparison to Evans as I'd never seen his loan spell but let's not take no credit away from young Michael, he's been doing fantastically well.
