Michael Carrick - Middlesbrough Manager

He has to find a solution within the squad if the club don't have money to spend, he's got to whip his players into improving beyond their potentials.

He's got to find solution that's why Boro took a chance with him, i assume they needed someone that can improve their players and used their Academy or take other clubs Academy players on loan that fits into how he wants to play, Someone that can perfomace wonders with their team despite their limited budget.

I'm surprised he hasn't tried taking some of our Academy players on loan.

There should be no excuse for failure, if there is it only shows that's he isn't capable of Managing at the highest level.

Course there is.

Not having good enough players.

That's why all managers, including the best ever, constantly spend massive amounts on new players.

Boro's form seemed to nose dive after picking up 10 points from a possible 12 in March, they then picked up 12 points from a possible 24 and went into the playoffs without a win in three matches.

They've not won in their last 10 league games (including play offs), this seasons form is a carry over from the end of last season and is obviously not helped by losing key players.

They've lost 60+ G+A from last season and replaced them very poorly, well, poorly in terms of current performance since they are more "potential" type buys.

Indeed, very poor recruitment. Looks like it will be a very difficult season, fingers crossed Carrick can correct course but desperately need someone to step up.

They've let Carrick down big time. You can't lose your best players, fail to replace them properly and expect the same results of last season. The Championship is a tough league.

100%, but I suspect some here are not interested in this and perversely want to see him fail.

If it all goes tits up for him I hope another Championship club gives him a chance

For the life of me, I don’t think - & wouldn’t understand why, anyone of our supporters would want him to fail? But yeah, you could well be right as there are some weirdos around.
He has to fail so he can’t get linked to the Manchester United job ever. It’s obvious his will be ambitious enough to want to manage this club and the media will indulge his whim.

Cafe logic. We can’t allow our former stupid, low IQ, incompetent former players anywhere near the club.

Conclusion. The football world revolves around United, even for people with diverse backgrounds.

Yeah, Caf logic is something else at times.

Caf logic: I love the club with all my heart. But loathe former players or managers. Apparently its the club that plays every weekend and not the players or managers.

eh, think people are being ultra defensive. don't think people want to see him fail at all

at least i hope not - and i'm yet to see anything in this thread indicating such

Yeah no one want to see him fail. Just people looking for ‘haters’ when there are none, no idea what drives them to do this?

Another loss today, really terrible start. Hope he can turn it around.

There's not a chance, all his best players last season were loan players and all went back to parent clubs. Basically got no replacements anywhere near the level they needed. They're expecting him to challenge the same this season using a poorer squad.

Seems to have copied Ole with the purple patch intially. Now he found his true level. At least not at United.

His fall is not only down to player quality.

A bit harsh, if he hasn't had any backing in the market, no?

You're such a negative person.

Beat So’ton, c’mon!
Turned out the way to get his first league win of the season was to leave most of the terrible/ project summer signings on the bench and just start the players still left from last season.

They played their hearts out for him today. Still too open at the back and questionable decision making in the final third, but no sign of players downing tools and trying to get rid of him at all.

Won again in the cup albeit against a weaker team. Hopefully can give them some confidence to put a run together. Would be amazing if he and McKenna can get into the PL at some point.

Another win, 2-0 over 6th-placed Cardiff. They're on a bit of a winning run now,, actually looking solid defensively this game for a change

On their way to 5 wins on the trot. 3-0 away at Sunderland currently, playing against 10 men. So happy Boro stuck with him during the horror start to the season.

They had a far worse start last season, before Carrick came in, and ended up comfortably in the playoffs.

Would love to see them promoted this season.

I’m happy that he seems to be succeeding to turn things around after it seemed like there was no way back for him with the horrible start Boro had. Nice run of wins in the league and they are back in mid-table. I think with losing his best players and the backing he has had (or lack thereof), he will do extremely well to keep them out of a relegation battle this season.

Get him in. Doesn't he have a 100% record as United manager? Can't be any worse than the fraudulent baldy.
