I have command being upgraded to level 4, and most of the others to level 3 - think medical is level 2, and animal might just be building level 1 I think.

I extract pretty much everything I can find - and then sell all weapons and some vehicles and plants.

The easiest way to build resources is to keep sending troops out on combat deployments - there is a list of missions they can do - some are mainly cash, others can bring in metals etc. Once they have finished, then you can send them out again.

The other thing I do religiously is as soon as any soldiers join my base, then I check in the staff management and make sure there are no trouble makers - those I dismiss instantly as I can't be arsed with them potentially killing any specialist etc.
Edit - think command is going to level 4, while most of the others are level 2, not 3.

You can do - am not sure if its one you can research, or whether it is something yo can create once you have the customize weapons option unlocked.

That would make going back on some missions really good fun!!!
Did some research on this and it's a level 3 upgrade for one of the sniper rifles, you just need to level up your R&D department.

Cheers, how do you tell who are the trouble makers? I've got people fighting in my medical department..
In staff management, you can cycle through the different teams with L1 and R1. You can also view all staff. Then you can scroll through and see who has the troublemaker trait.

You can press R2 to sort the list in different ways. If you sort by skill, then it's easier to search through as the different skills are then grouped.

Apparently you can move a diplomat into the same team to prevent any trouble, but I just dismiss any troublemakers.

Cool - cheers for that. Will make sure I get the level 1 version of the one that you can upgrade - if I don't already.

Really looking forward to the gun customization - if you have a silencer unlocked on one weapon, then you can use it on any. Also put whatever scopes, magazines etc to fully customize each weapon.

Yeah I've been through that screen, is there a symbol for a trouble maker trait?

It just lists it as their skill - so where for others it says diplomat, or physician, etc, then it will say troublemaker

 Cheers!

One idea I saw for troublemakers was to put them all in your security team.

If you are going to use your FOB online, then this team will staff that. Then, if anyone attacks your base and Felton's your guards, then they just get a load of troublemakers!!

I set up a FOB and immediately regreted it. Couldnt be arsed at the moment to defend it. And my security team is full of E ranked so if people want them they can have em!

Thankfully my resources are safe. 4500 of precious metal. It's worth a fortune so it has to come good soon enough. Its used for nothing at the moment but the fact so little an fetch nearly 4 million GMP means I should keep it.

As for people worried about lack of cut scet, yeah they're quite sparse but you get more the further you progress and Big Boss talks a lot more. Loving Kiefers performance btw. A huuuuuuuge step up from David Hayters terrible Peace Walker pf.

Don't think I will be bothered with having an FOB online.

Don't like the idea of being midway through a mission and then having to jump back to your base. I guess there must be a big incentive for having one though.

I am curious to see what the online options are - will be good getting back playing online...and also seeing how ugly Stoney's guy is!

OK another issue, the side ops option is blocked out on mine (red bar across it). How do I get it?

Edi: Never mind, just had to wait a sec

I did the first a wandering mission (5th one coming up, ugh) and ive no clue when you find this out. Wanna elaborate?

After the first wandering mission you unlock a room at the medical platform. From the outside find the door with a blue light above it and then walk through to another door that you have to push a button to open. The door with the blue light should be on the second floor, looking into the middle of the platform from the balcony.

It's such a confusing thing that I don't know why it's so secret, but then again that's a part of the Kojima charm.

I have 1.8m GMP worth - will just keep it and see if it is used for any development in the future.

I hope Konami collapse into a stream of liquid shit and ooze down into the river of obscurity. Turning Silent Hill into an arcade machine, pfft.

Kojima Productions will rise again!

Konami can feck off, just hope it dignifies Kojima's vision for the series and that he gives it the seeing off it deserves.

I'm scared to ask this on gaming forums because even the thread titles have spoilers so:
Have I missed out on the dog companion if I haven't got him by mission 10? I only just found out about him recently and have been checking my LZ's since about mission 7 but cannot find him. I read he should have appeared around mission 5?

I remember Kojima saying his inspiration was Sherlock Holmes. The main man was obviously Solid Snake (Holmes) but the story was told through Raiden (Watson) to get another point of view of the main character. The logic is sound, but he messed up making Raiden a whiny little bitch with pretty boy looks. That was never going to go down well.

Sounds like an interesting idea(Isn't there also a whole VR virtual reality idea in there as well ). But yeah as you mentioned completely falls a part when you have to play as Raiden.

He should be around on Mission 4 but I found him sooner. What I've read(And what I did) is when on a mission(I've read that it's any mission, so I don't think you've missed him) just wonder around for a while and you should find him, well he normally finds you.

I've done about four side ops which involve extracting "highly skilled soldiers/prisoners" and they all end up being D rated shit heads. What's the point?

You can get invaded even when offline, just logged in a now I have one victory  some nugget couldn't get past my 20 or so E rated guards.

One benefit of setting up a FOB found is that each of my MB platforms, even offline, has upgraded my maximum capacity, so before I built the FOB, say my command platform(s) could hold 90 or 95, it can now hold 105 at level 3.

What in the absolute feck, I had a gander around there and found it, how something so important just hid like that!? KOJIMMMMMMMAA! If you find any other Mother Base "easter eggs" like that be a darling and let us know.

This made me burst out laughing more than it should have.

There's another little Easter egg that I found, and this one is a little easier to do. When you upgrade to the third R&D platform you can call 555-PIDGY and all you have to do is give the guy who answers your bank account details. I won't spoil the ending but it's really fourth wall breaking.

Not sure if it's an Easter Egg but I came back smelly and got to shower with Quiet.

Can confirm, this game is massive. I've put some serious hours in to it and I still haven't finished it.

Tell me about it, this game just devours your life. I only got it about 4 days ago and Steam is telling me I've already put 27 hours into it. I'm only 17% complete!

I really want to get my fulton device upgraded so I can extract vehicles and containers but I can't get hold of a transportation specialist for the life of me.

When the game opened with Snake waking up to that track I knew it was going to be a masterpiece
Same here...I didn't even plan on buying it. I preordered it months ago and forgot to cancel it and was a bit confused when it came in the post on Tuesday...after watching the intro I was glad it came! Kojima is great at picking songs, helping me find great new music

It's a shame if this is the last metal gear by Kojima as its just so fun to play. It will be interesting to see where he goes next. I've been hoping that Sony go after him as they seem to give a huge amount of creative freedom (which has unfortunately produced shit like Beyond 2 Souls)

I am hoping you can get New Order - Elegia.
Had a look online at the tracks available(It's sort of spoiler -ish so be careful) and it's not on there. Although from looking at the tracklist there are some absolute classics that more than make up for it.

Finished mission 12 last night -
the one where you extract Huey Emmerich. Really good sneaking through the base and back again - and then evading the walker at the end!

Next mission will be in Africa - which also means I should soon be able to do the Gunsmith side-ops. Will do them then will be able to customize my weapons

GOTY

Playing around with the CB is so much fun. @swooshboy this is what I was talking about the other day.

Nice!

On a separate note, have there been any details released for what the online modes will be - aside from the FOB thing?

This is the trailer they released ages ago...looks very idealized, but could be so much fun!

Brilliant game this. The use of anti-aliasing is very impressive, hardly any jagged edges aside from the odd flickering in the distance which is an achievement for an open world game. The world itself isn't as vast and immense as Witcher or GTA but it's large enough to offer sufficient amount of attractions, and the structure of missions is great. Lovely experience so far, the more I play the more I'm getting into this and the better it becomes. I am still very early into it but I already see this as a game I will spend 80+ hours with easily, possibly well in the excess of a 100.

Agree/ I have read a number of people complaining that the maps themselves aren't that varied. I don't mind this, as the options you have open to you as to how you achieve things are incredibly varied - and that is one of the most enticing elements in the game.
