Get him in the summer, him and Sanchez at a combined fee of £30M is great business.

Then we can concentrate the rest of the funds being spent at CM and the FB position. We are really close to having a world class side again.

We could always wave Mata and £20m at them :)
Mata while not as good as Ozil, works harder, is better in big matches and doesn't seem to mind getting benched. If we get Ozil, most likely our front four with be Lukaku, Ozil, Sanchez and Martial, with Mata, Lingard and Rashford as quality backups. I don't think that we can afford to get rid of any of the attacking players we have at the moment (bar Mhiky and Zlatan).

If we sign Sanchez how many big games do you think Mata is likely to play?

We've got a stack of players due to leave. Blind clearly has no future here, fellaini wants a move, ibra will leave in the summer or before, carrick has a heart problem, surely he'll retire now and there are a few others who could move on. That's a lot of money in wages right there.

Exactly.

Plenty room on the wage bill for Ozil.

Would love to sign him and a top RB, along with Sanchez. Would start to look like a real team there.

Now that Sanchez looks done - I think we will take Özil in the summer as well.

It is speculated that Arsenal board think Özil may yet sign a new contract, but why would he? Why leave it this late?

There are no reasons for him to stay there now...

  • Arsenal won’t match the wage he wants.
  • Özil will get a huge signing on bonus if he moves on a free.
  • It is unlikely they’ll be in the Champions League next year.
  • It’s pretty certain that Arsenal will not be challenging for major trophies (except FA Cup) in the next few years. Well as long as Wenger is there, anyway. And even if he’s not, it’s probable they will go through similar period as we did, when Sir Alex left. Their squad is ageing and needs gutted from top to bottom, imo.
  • It’s clear to see how much ambition Kroenke & co have. That won’t change over the course of next six months.
Özil would be dumb as feck to stay there coming into the twilight years of his career.

I think it’s a certainty that he leaves. Which brings me onto the question: where will he go? What are his realistic options?

I can’t really think anyone other than United. Any plausible suggestions?

It’s highly likely that we will start next season with 2 of Arsenal’s best players in our squad. It’s absolutely fecking mad when you think about it.

I’d 8-2 be and Arsenal fan.

If we can somehow get Goretzka that is our entire MF and attack solved within 50M. Then a WC RB and LB and we're there
Can you imagine something like this?

Sanchez exchange for Mkhitharyan, Ozil on a free and so Goretzka?

It couldn't possibly be real, but imagine it for a minute.

Is it possible to want something yet be completely indifferent about getting it at the same time?

I’ve just not been sold on him since he went to Arsenal but he was so impressive at Madrid...dunno if it’s worth finding out which player he’d be for us.

Yeah, he's not staying there and what are his options?

Barca? I see them as the most likely in Spain but not sure it's a priority for them. Bayern? Not a link I've seen. Juve? Perhaps, but it's clear if we want him (and why wouldn't we?) we will get him.

I like that Jose has been getting players who are more than happy in England and have been "prem proven" in Matic, Lukaku, Sanchez. Ozil fits that bill and really strengthen us. Shades of Fergie in that he'd go for what he deemed a sure thing from the premier league than go overseas and take a gamble on a more exotic signing.

He could become better under Mourinho. We should really go for him, after that go for expensive youngsters with huge talent ala Pogba or hidden gems.

You do realise that this will be £200m if we do get him on a free in the summer?

Does that 200mil include the cost of petrol by his weight on the bus for away matches? We'll also need to get something concrete on his Carrington toilet paper usage over a 4 and a half year period as well as the figures for depreciation and degradation of treadmill belts divided by squad member exercise time.

Juve if Dybala goes would be brilliant for him I think. I'd love him here on a free, but feel like he'd tear up Serie A and Juve love a bargain.

Meanwhile, 50 million bonus signing on, wage 700k a week before tax worth 36.4m a year for 4 years (145m.6m) and pay agent fee 5 million, that'd be £200m. Will they consider this is the most expensive transfer?

Juve will not pay the wages he wants.

We should offer them Mkhi + £30m and get Alexis and Ozil this window.

Lukaku
Martial - Ozil - Sanchez
Pogba - Matic

As good a side as any in the league.

The problem is only one can be added to CL squad. It's a tough situation. Also, Arsenal found it hard to just replace Alexis even it's the rare swap deal with us pushing Mkhi toward them. Replacing Ozil who has been a big help for them this season, now is a tough task. Even 40 mil would do them no good as any player they would inquire for would trigger the selling club to up the price further.

All in all, it's better to leave one for the summer to better manage the squad and maintain good relationship with Arsenal for future business!

Probably not, but if we don't, who will really? Chelsea maybe? I'm not sure who else tbh and I think he'd do well at Juve.

He’ll do well anywhere he goes. I don’t think Barca will go for him as they’ve Coutinho now and it seems they’re getting Griezmann now too.

With Chelsea, I don’t they’ll pay the wages he’d want either.

I think United is his only option - which is great because we’d have an awesome squad.

Özil, Lingard, Mata, Martial, Rashford, Lukaku and Sanchez. You could also say Pogba since he has 9 assists in 13 games for us. We’d have amazing attacking options.

I too agree that were his best options and think he'll come here. I'm just saying as an alternative if we weren't to go for him, Juve is where it's at for him I reckon.

Optimism is a good thing but don’t jinx it people. Those sexy lineups make me dizzy

That would surprise me. I didn’t think he’d sign a new deal.

It depends what his ambitions for the remainder of his career are. He won major trophies with Germany and Real, so he might just take it easy in London being a star player for a decent team without challenging for trophies.

Hopefully he doesn't sign anything soon and Sanchez can help us convince him.

I'm not sure. It looks tasty, but Lingard is playing well at the moment. Why cut him out for the sake of Oezil? Especially being a United academy grad. Plus, Pogba plays better in a 3. How about this?

Alan Smith is saying his sources within the club are saying Ozil is very close to signing a new deal at Arsenal.

There's a lot of transfer market noise around Arsenal at the moment, being liked with all sorts of quality players like they usually are around season ticket renewal time. It could be geared towards convincing Ozil that they are rebuilding a better side so he re-signs.

Question is, is he gullible enough to fall for it?

I can't think of any reason why he won't have many better options than Arsenal. He would be crazy to sign a new contract.

As great a player as Ozil is I want Utd to be all in for Dybala this summer over anyone else, offers way more than Ozil in every single capacity!

A front 4 of Sanchez,Dybala,Martial,Lukaku would blow ANY team away!
