Can you clowns stop hijacking the thread arguing about some mistaken posting of 4-4-3 :wenger:

I hope he doesn’t sign a new contract and that we are in for him in the summer. I know some want a 4-3-3 but I just don’t see us playing that every game. Even if people feel pogba is best in a 3.

We’d have to expect big numbers from Lukaku, Martial and Sanchez if we went 4-3-3. Having an extra attacker allows us to get a better spread of goals.

Obviously we will go 4-3-3 in some bigger games or away games. However if the opposition is weaker, then I expect us to go 4-2-3-1 next season similar to this.

Just watched the first 20 minutes of their game and he was sensational.

No need for swaps. Try to get him in the summer, he's the perfect upgrade on Lingard. There are rumors of him willing to sign a new deal with Arsenal, but if he doesn't, we should be all over him.

Not seen highlights of our game today but I’ve heard that Mata was woeful so if we can get Ozil in on a free in the summer I’d bring him in, on a free how can it be a risk ?

A front line of Sanchez, Lukaku, Rashford, Martial, Lingard, Ozil and Mata with the likes of Gomes, Chong and Gribbin coming through is very exciting and with Pogba pulling the strings behind surely has plenty of goals in them.

Will be a strange choice if he signs a new contract with Arsenal.

I reckon if we give him signals that we want him in the summer then he won't sign.

It can happen. See nothing that will prevent it except if he actually wants to stay at Arsenal.

Better to talk about it when summer comes.

Isn’t he out of contract though so us getting Sanchez means nothing, Ozil will Be able to speak to whichever clubs he wants.

No, I mean I think we have our forward player we were looking for. We will look for CM’s now.

If he resigns with Arsenal then its because he doesn't have a better offer, tbh now we've got Sanchez I struggle to see where he would fit in here (not without continuing with the horrible 4-2-3-1)

It clearly doesn't seem that Özil is on his way to spain - So this could be either us or Arsenal:

- Better wage (we would throw all the signing fee after his wage and give him a huge one)
- Better squad
- Compete for the title
- Already familiar with Mou and Sanchez

I don't see how Arsenal beats us on any other criteria than being in London to be honest.

Still more than doable imho

Don’t think he’d [Vidal] cost a whole lot. South of £60M would get it done which wouldn’t even be considered a mega signing for United.

If United decide to pass on AG and Dybala to get Ozil on a free instead, I can see them signing both Vidal+Weigl in all honesty and altogether would be a much better fit to balance the lineup; wouldn’t be far fetched either. Vidal completes the mid3 and Weigl able to sub on/start (rotate) for Matic or Vidal whenever need be with the latter 2 getting up in age (29 and 30 respectively), not to mention inevitable injuries. Makes sense with José saying we need to sign 2 midfielders as well, one being a starter to complete a mid3 and the other as a bench option aka Carrick replacement.

433
Sanchez——Lukaku——Ozil
————Pogba——Vidal
—————-—Matic
Shaw—Smalling—Bailly—Valencia

(Weigl+Martial primary subs...lesser extent Jesse)

4231
——————Lukaku
Martial———Ozil———Sanchez
———-Pogba—Vidal/Matic
Shaw—Smalling—Bailly—Valencia

(Rashford+Matic/Vidal primary subs...lesser extent Jesse)

What I personally like about a hypothetical yet realistic squad like this would be the fluidity and abundance of options for José to play with while keeping the opposition guessing. Sanchez is just as capable of playing RW as he is LW and as a CAM, Ozil is just as capable of playing RW as he is #10, Vidal is just as capable of playing CDM as he is box to box, Weigl is just as capable of playing box to box as he is CDM. No real restrictions and would give us as much depth and possibilities as City in terms of attacking options or any top club in the world as a matter of fact. Could play 433 or 4231 any given match and not have to worry about having the right personnel to be able to do so.

Agreed, only 2 in means no room for any more forward players this summer IMO, the big outlay needs to be on a proper #8.

Don't see why he'd sign a new deal at Arsenal to be fair. Especially when he obviously has better options and basically a last chance to play for a relevant club again.

Don’t think it happens now that we are signing Sanchez.

Same here, regardless of Ozils availabilty I think we will be looking at other areas of the pitch to strengthen.

Wouldnt be surprised to see him sign a new contract either with Arsenal using some of the money they may have saved from Sanchezs wages.

But.....would be pretty amusing to sign both Arsenals best players in 6 months though.

With Sanchez coming in, Ozil completes our attack.

The chances he’d be able to create with the likes of Martial, Sanchez and Lukaku could be frightening.

Straight swap for mata. If they're willing to swap Sanchez for Micky then its worth a crack. Mata's playing times likely to be reduced when Sanchez arrives anyway since you'd expect martial, Sanchez and lingard to be first choice.

We need him way more than we need Sanchez, classy player. Shocked Madrid aren't thinking of getting him back given how their season has gone.

Just because Arsenal like Mkhi and accepted the swap doesn't mean they will accept every player we offer. Not so simple as that, Mata in current form is of no use to them and won't get into their starting XI.

Not saying they’d take Mata but Mkhitaryan’s current form is worse than Mata’s tbh.

Considering Wenger's obsession with our rejects (Welbeck, Silvestre, Mkhitaryan etc) would it be a too mad of an idea offering them Darmian in a straight swap with Ozil?

The thing is Ozil may leave at the end of the season for nothing, just like Alexis, so Arsenal might be tempted with a reasonable offer. However, I agree that Arsenal wouldn't like this swap as unlike Alexis who is acting up, Ozil has stayed level headed and being their key player to keep them afloat at the moment. Ozil at his best for 6 months is worth more than any amount of money/replacement Arsenal can get in this market.

Woody says next up on the agenda is a Mata for Ozil swap, Arsene.
