Mesut Özil

His performance was full of quality in everything he did. Exceptional awareness and vision from midfield and the abiity to carve defences open at will. I was impressed by how well he ran the game and most importantly he carried a goal threat as well. This is the kind of midfield influence we need in our team. Hopefully Anderson can develop along those lines for us because he has the ability, but not the goal threat right now.

i wanked for 70 minutes

Wash your hands bruv

No way is he United caliber.. I can't believe how many people here have been blinded by his "abilities". He movement without the ball is terrible and is a liability when his team are in trouble. He wasn't even a absolute starter until this season.

We have Anderson, so is on his way to become a huge star, Gibson who has ability to score a lot of goals and Obertan as well.. So no need for Özil here. Hope City "get" him so the laughing can continue.

Agreed, these transfer muppets don't seem to understand the definition of Value

Wow, now that is optimism.

Good attempt. Scholesy now has a rival for the biggest froot loop in this thread.

Go Sleep.

All those talking about value, I dont think one match will have put his fee above Silva's (£30 million or so). So there's still value there seeing as he's comfortably better.

There’s value...then there’s our definition of Value......

We wont get him, everyone knows that, he’ll end up going to a Chelsea/City/Madrid etc for relative peanuts, become a superstar and so on and we’ll still be here talking about a lack of value in the market.

True enough  Just saying, one match isnt going to make him a £40 million player. Which of course is far too much for him right now. In the grand scheme of things you could probably get him for a fee that does represent value as well as the fact he's pretty much as good as anyone else in his position behind a striker (or two).

But give it another year and I'm sure he'll be saturated with hype and overrated like most young players become once they've done big things on a world stage. And the figure will close to double.

I guess you've never seen a special player who plays in a free role before then. This player sees the game quicker than most and has the ability to execute his passes. He's clearly going to be a star in the future, if he isn't already.. best player in his national side at 21 making mature decisions on the pitch.

ozil is pick for 'young player' of the tournament in south africa. the lad is the bollocks. top class. i must say that i'd rather have hamsik but i ozil would be a great addition to united.

yup....said this back in january. lads need to watch more than just the prem. But 30 million, he is not worth. More like 15-20.

that said, the overdrive from his performance against australia is a bit OTT.

The aussies are shite. I reckon a midtable premiership side would've beat them today. Unfortunately his price tag has now now gone thru the roof.

We won't get him.

Ozil's price tag will increase by the time this WC ends, and he'll be highly sought after. This will lead to SAF telling us there is no value in the market and we'll end up spunking 4-5 million on some kid nobody has ever heard off. The cafe will then go nuts, pull out youtube videos and hail him as the second coming. He'll play 2 games and it'll dawn on us that most of the time, you get what you pay for. Rooney will be expected to win us the title, and Berba will get slated. That's pretty much how I see the rest of the summer panning out.

The only saving grace...no matter what happens, we'll always have the scouse to laugh at.

I thought he played well but some posts on here, as usual, are ott. There's something about him that makes me not really want him though. I can't quite put my finger on it.

If we can blow 50 million pounds this summer on Ozil and Marin, I think we will be fine for the next 3-4 years. Just like how we bought Nani and Anderson 3 years ago that strengthened and blostered our squad well enough for a few years. Both Ozil and Marin will be taking up the midfield slots that Giggs and Scholesey will eventually relinquish in 2 years time.

Yeah 50M just like that:rolleyes:

Same here.. I was very harsh on him after the Uefa Cup Final performance two years ago when Diego was injured.. He has come a long long way since then.. But as you said I still don't know why I don't want us to sign him my head says sign him my heart says we shouldn't..

Ozil oozes class. His sublime talent even makes his own eyes bulge. Along with Canales, one of the most talented and exciting young creative midfield talents out there.

There are some on here thoroughly enthused by the prospect of signing Cole, and yet non-plussed at even the thought of signing Ozil (as if). Come armageddon!

I think people are just being realistic. No point getting too excited about a big money target. Joe Cole is a transfer target in our price range.

Good player.

But we shouldn't rush into signing him because he just had an good few matches.

It's not just the WC though. He's been excellent for Werder Bremen for the last year and half as well. But again, it's a moot point. He will definitely be in the high price bracket after the WC and as such we won't / can't afford him.

You're probably right. But almost all players on the first page of the transfer forum are in the same price range.
