In a years time City could offer him CL football and a huge wage which no one perhaps not even Real or Barca could match.

Ozil wold make far more if he stayed one more season as he would be on a free trasnfer and could negotiate a big signing on fee and wage.

Dont say that. People will get upset.

City could blow anyone out of the water in terms of wages, even if they have to pay a transfer fee.

feck - if they can pay £25mil plus 220k a week for Toure, then what would they pay if they set their sights on Ozil.

So are we signing him or not?

Its getting boring,this transfer window.

Hope it gets over soon.

Think the transfer window for the big boys will heat up shortly. Once Shitty finalize their squad, you'll start seeing some moves by the other clubs.

Saw a headline on BBC site where Redknapps aid that things are hinging on what happens with Milner. Not sure what that is all about but, figure once Shitty release some players, you might see the likes of Villa, Spurs go for some of their "rejects" and also it will signal that they aren't likely to come gazump a deal by offering a lot more.

Is correct. Its more at his club's discretion right now. In a year, it will be his decision completely. Whether that decision is in favour of money or football remains to be seen.

I do not know what Ozil is like as a person and what motivates him, but the fact he has engineered a situation where he could be out of contract suggests that he will likely be going whoever will pay him the most as long as they have CL football.

If it was a choice of Rodwell next summer or Ozil now then I would probably wait for Rodwell. He looks like he will continue as an attacking midfielder and he is simply going to be the dogs in a couple of years and is the type that would stay at the club for life! Ozil would be sensational also but I cant see it happening!

:wenger:

Attacking midfielder? He's being scoped out as a potential central defender/defensive midfielder.

Yeah, I was about to say. Didn't Rodwell play quite a few games in defence in the past too? Like reserves etc.

Any updates?

The conclusion so far is that his bird's got nice tits.

Other than that and a thread count that is about to hit 2,700; we still dont know whether he is coming, going, staying or marrying the wench or he's bought a new car and house -- or from some sources, whether he has had brekkie this morning yet.

Its a tad frustrating.

we're not signing him, accept that now and you wont be disappointed come the end of the transfer window. you're like lemmings moving from one rumor to another. As soon as one storie dies, you all latch onto the next one.. till it dies.. and the cycle continues.

But if not for our little mysteries in life, life would be so bland! ;)

Arsenal and Manchester United are on alert after it emerged that Mesut Ozil has asked Werder Bremen to lower their asking price for him.

The Daily Star says the German World Cup star told his club to lower the £16m asking price.

The Premier League big guns are willing to spend no more than £10m to bag Ozil.

Both United and Arsenal would prefer to take their chances next summer when they could sign him on a free transfer as his contract at the Bundesliga club expires.

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the attacking midfielder but the player’s representatives have denied there are any talks planned with the Blues during their pre-season tour of Germany.

Ozil has made it clear that he will not sign a new deal at Werder.

fergie sign him up, fergie fergie sign him up!!!!

Werder Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs claims the club have no plans to sell central defender Per Mertesacker.

Speculation continues to link the Germany international with a move elsewhere, with Arsenal reported to be among those expressing an interest.

Bremen, though, are adamant that the centre-half is not for sale and have been given no indication by the player or his representatives that they are looking for a transfer.

"I have already said on a couple of occasions that Per will be staying on at our club and will go on playing for Werder Bremen," Allofs told BILD.

"Nothing has changed with regard to this and neither Per nor his agent have come to us saying that they have received an offer."

While Bremen are confident regarding their chances of retaining Mertesacker, they face a struggle to keep Mesut Ozil at the club.

The talented playmaker, who impressed at this summer's World Cup, is attracting mounting interest and, with just a year left to run on his contract, Allofs accepts that a deal could be struck should a suitable offer be lodged.

"There are many clubs interested in Mesut, but none of these clubs have made an offer as yet," he said.

"Should there be an offer on the table, we would consider it. Everything is still possible at the moment.

"I would like to see the transfer window close now, with the team we have, because we are looking forward to competing in the Champions League."

Werder Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs has revealed the Bundesliga club have received no offers for their star player Mesut Ozil despite the fervent speculation surrounding the prodigious 21-year-old’s future.

Premier League giants Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea have been strongly linked with the German international of Turkish descent along with La Liga rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona, and with just 12-months to run on his current deal and having indicated to his employers of his reluctance to sign a new contract, Allofs suggested any potential bid would be considered.

Sir Alex Ferguson is a huge admirer of the midfield playmaker having coveted the World Cup star as a teenager, and his Premier League counterpart Arsene Wenger has also maintained a long-term interest in the Bremen prospect.

Chelsea are reportedly preoccupied with other potential transfer targets but like Real Madrid, they would jump at the chance to sign Ozil on a free transfer in 12-months time.

Yesterday various media outlets indicated Ozil had demanded that his asking price be lowered from £16 million; however Allofs suggests none of the aforementioned suitors have approached Werder Bremen about signing the player.

Allofs told Bild: “There are many clubs interested in Mesut, but none of these clubs have made an offer as yet,
"Should there be an offer on the table, we would consider it. Everything is still possible at the moment.

"I would like to see the transfer window close now, with the team we have, because we are looking forward to competing in the UEFA Champions League."

Ozil has in the past suggested he would be happy to stay at Bremen and see out the remainder of his career, but he has also revealed his admiration for the top two clubs in La Liga and the Premier League.
