If you were on these boards last season, you'll recall that Benzema was extremely strongly linked to us - more so than this Ozil lad now.

Ozil has said he wants to play for Chelsea or United - he has no preference towards us in particular.

What's Berbatov got to do with anything?

With too many threads on things, i choose the ones that are bollocks. Hence ones on Benzema. The newspapers told me exactly what i needed to know and i made up my own judgement on that he wasn't coming to us from the start.

As for Berbatov, i was just stating he cant score on the big stage. Ozil did. It was sarcasm.

On what basis was the Benzema one bollocks, but this one not?

I don't understand that - they are both essentially agent- and press-driven rumours.

It's more accurate to say they're both bollocks. There's nothing in this Ozil story that suggests he's any more likely to join us than Benzema was.

Again, what has Berbatov got to do with anything? Stop being a muppet.

I was being pedantic. God, someone got out of the bed wrong side this morning!

Feed Me is right though, the only slight evidence to suggest that he might be coming here is that he said he'd like to play for us or Chelsea at some point, but other than that it's been absolute nonsense really. The press know that he's the sort of player we could do with and they're milking it for all it's worth.

For all we know, he has no intention to move and we have no intention to make a bid.

I hope I'm wrong, I want the kid at Utd, but I wouldn't be too optimistic at all.

I'm not in a bad mood at all :D

I just don't understand why you'd think this one was a goer. There has basically been nothing but the same old agent/press bluster.

Here's the thing about Ozil. He's not the first player to have a good World Cup, but that doesn't make him an automatic answer to all our footballing prayers. Ferguson may rate him and may be doing a deal as we type...

... or he may not, and this may all be bollocks.

My own take is that he has a year left on his deal, is rated at about £10-15m and yet, none of Europe's big hitters seem that interested. Mmm...

Without a doubt he looks a talent, and I wouldn't mind seeing him roll up at OT. But it always amazes me how these transfer threads take on a life of their own. They get out of control and people assume that a deal must be happening - but there's no evidence to suggest that's the case.

They're setting themselves up for a big disappointment.

Anyway, not to worry. I heard we signed this sensational young Mexican who scored twice at the World Cup. Only cost £7m as well. Apparently, he's even scored against United.

Özil on call at Werder - When will bounce?

Bad Waltersdorf (AP) - All signs point to separation, but the time is still unclear. World Cup hero Mesut Özil plays only on-demand football Bundesliga Werder Bremen. Half of Europe chasing the national team, but wants to be obviously another year.

Then Özil a free transfer and Werder would go a lush double-digit million sum by the cloth. Club chief Klaus Allofs therefore again signaled willingness to negotiate. "If an offer comes, we deal" so that, Allofs said in training camp in Austria Bad Waltersdorf.

The fact that young star Özil would like to plunge into the jump to a Großclub, hinted the 21-year-old on his arrival from the World Cup holiday. "I still have a contract. I'm here now and that is what counts, "said Özil consistently careful to avoid a clear commitment to Werder. His sometimes strong performance in the World Cup in South Africa left behind especially in the Spanish top clubs Real Madrid and FC Barcelona impression.

It is understood that advisers are working feverishly on Özil large transfer coup. The good-looking statements Özil seem to confirm the presumption that it "their" golden boy like one more year in Bremen saw. 2011, the then free transfer Özil more interesting for the major industry players and the usual earnest money is all the greater.

An even more in the spring of possible whereabouts Özil beyond 2011, is now excluded. By Allofs repeatedly sought extension of the contract has failed. not "The missing gap could" be filled with numbers, was Allofs' this comment. Bremen's managing director is in dilemma. The sporting value Özil is the economic importance of a transfer to later this summer. According to media reports Werder expects the event of a change in August, with at least 15 million euros. The market value of the dribble king is estimated at 27 million € at all.

"Özil is very important for us because we have" with him a good and powerful team, put goalkeeper Tim Wiese clear. Only with Özil the team appears strong enough in both Championship and Champions League to play a good role.

Allofs already made clear that was in the immensely important games of the Champions League qualification (17/18. 24./25.8 and interest accrues.) Then the best team. Should be involved Özil however, he would have no interest to the Großclubs this summer, as it in the premier class this year, could no longer play. Haste should be exercised at least from the Bremer.

Here the Özil-bickering is not the only concern of Allofs. Also Per Mertesacker will be courted by Arsenal FC. As the defender Özil avoided a clear commitment to Werder. "There is nothing new," Mertesacker said shortly. When asked whether the situation could still change slightly, said the defense warrior: "I want" to say nothing and let plenty of room for speculation, what is to be arrived at Allofs less well.

Nothing new there except if Ozil plays in the CL qualifiers on the 17/18 of August he will thus be Cup tied.. So if any deal is to be done it is likely to be done before or even more likely to be done after incase Ozil doesn't play on either of those two possible fixture dates i.e 17/18 & 24/25 of August..

If they are prepared to sell, we should launch a bid. This lad will develop into a world-beater.

"It is understood that advisers are working feverishly on Özil large transfer coup" is good enough for me, COCKS OUT :) And by the way.Dribble King? :)

Did that just come from their coach and quote me if im wrong said in there "We would deal at 7million Euros?"

Read the top of that page that says something about willing to negotiate at 7mill!

Nothing about 7 millions in the text. It just says that Werder would probably sell for 15 million euros and that Özil's current market value is about 25 million euros. Again, sports director Allofs has stressed that they would look at offers if they receive ones.

The problem for Werder is that they are running out of time, according to the text. Werder has two important CL qualification ties and Allofs says that the best players will play which would mean that Özil will be cup-tied unless someone snaps him up before August 17th.

As for Özil, his team apparently wants him to see out his contract so that he'll get a huge signing-on fee after this season and will be able to choose his dream club.

Being cup tied wouldnt be a problem for City!!!

Have you read the thread at all? He has stated on numerous occasions that he will only join clubs that are able to compete for the top prizes. i.e the Domestic league and the CL.. If he is not likely to go to Italy nor stay in Germany then the only options are: Spain (Barca, Real) England (Chelsea, Man Utd)

Besides why would he give up prospective CL football at Bremen for the EL at Man City?

Which player has gone for a lot of money in the last year of his contract?

Man City can bid all they like he won't be going there.

Werder need to decide how much Ozil is worth to them for another year service. If he plays well in the CL and they get past the group stages then I think they would be happy.

Or they bank anywhere between 10-25m Euros now and sell him before the CL matches start. Ozil wants to play in the CL so he would be loath to play for Werder and then leave as he would be cup tied.

I like this from the Guardian.

Mesut Ozil reacts with joy to the the news he could be on his way from Werder Bremen to Manchester United

Even Beaker is singing for the signing of Ozil at United

Why would i want to read 66 pages of dross? Especially from people who say things like "a numerous number of occasions".

City are in a possition to chalenge for the Premier League - like it or not.

If City put a big offer on Werders table, then im sure they will talk. If its the only offer, then there no reason why he wont go.

Players aren't slaves and even if there's a huge bid doesn't mean that Özil will accept a move. He himself and his camp have over and over again stressed that he wants to play for an international top club and it's not like he would starve playing for Real or Barcelona.

If you don't feel like reading the whole thread - fine. But why claiming things that aren't true or lack any proof?

Theres very little proof in the transfer forum.

He can talk all he wants about wanting to come to United, Chelsea, Barca or Real, but if there is no money on the table, then it wont happen.

If there is no interest from United, Chelsea etc, and City put in a big bid then im sure it will happen.

If that happened, his agent will be in his ear telling him that if he stays then he could loose form, get a major injury and not have a contract in 12 months time. Or the clubs he wants to go to turn their attentions to someone else.

Sometimes its better to take the offer thats on the table than hoping something’s will materialise in the future. Thats what his agent will be telling him if City put in a bid.

Citys money and talk of world domination can be very persuasive. Just ask David Silva, Yaya Toure or Tevez.

Im not saying City want him, i merely pointed out that it wouldn’t bother them if he became cup tied because they are not in the CL.

Sorry if that upsets you transfer muppets.

Which is a completely irrelevant observation when you consider that the clubs most likely to sign the player, the clubs the player would be most interested in joining, would all see him getting cup-tied as a problem.

Hence the impending CL qualifiers put pressure on all concerned to sort out his future pronto (pressure that won't be relieved by someone saying "ah sure, City won't mind")

Why is that irelevant?

My point is that if he does end up played in the CL qualifying round, it does not mean that he will be staying at Werder. A club, like City, could still go in for him.

And at the same time, we could still buy him, even thouth he is cup tied - doubtful though.

Your right though, with the CL qualifiers approaching, if United want him then now is the time to get the deal done.

As i have said before, it takes two to tango and no one has put in a bid for him. He can talk all he wants about his "dream move".

Remember Arshavin going on and on about Barca? Didnt happen though.

BTW - i would love him to come to United. But im not going to get carried away just becasue he says he wants to move.

Didnt he say last week....

"For now, my situation for the next 12 months is clear. Only the facts count and the fact is, I am under contract with Werder. I cannot know what comes after that," he said.

When leaves World Cup Star Özil Werder Bremen?
In training camp Bremer superimposed on the everything else.
A firm commitment to avoid the 21-year-old Werder.
Club chief Klaus Allofs signaled readiness to talk.
It is also about several million euros.

I got that off part of your link earlier Laillani. Then at end it said 15mill he would sell at while the 7 million euro thing is at the beginning.
Curious...they do sound desperate
