I think there's a realistic chance that he will go to City if they offload Robinho and Wright-Phillips, as they're going to need a wide player who would be able to cut into the middle of the park and they have enough money to lure him there.

If anything does happen, turn on the signal.
Then I don't have to keep checking the thread only to see rhymes.

I would just love to see Ozil at United, pure talent and just what we need. Let's hope Fergie is interested in signing him.

It's all gone quiet.

The day the music died. And started too.

So, he's spotted at an airport, people go mad, odds go swinging...

But is anything actually happening? No?

Is he really what we need?

He played a free role just behind the strikers at the world cup. Berbatov has played in pretty much same space. Park also plays a similar role in Europe. If a striker is signed or Hernandez hits it off then Rooney might just take up a similar role to Ozil.

Gills with the squad in USA

10m or thereabouts for a genuine, world class potential player not even near his prime years yet. SAF rolled the dice on Anderson and Nani recently, so let's hope he does the same here. I'm surprised there hasn't been a bidding war yet with confirmed offers.

The more I think about it the more I don't want him. We don't play with a player of his type in our team, we never really have. We rely on two central midfielders, one preferably box to box and the other sitting. Or mixing and matching. We don't play with a playmaker in the hole, even when Rooney goes there it's not the same as where Ozil would play. We'd only be buying him to stop someone else getting him. We don't need a player of his type.

The Market, what you are betting on, is what club he will be registered with after the transfer window closes. So who he'll sign for in the window.

1/5 Erica, means that for every £5 you bet, you get £1 profit, so £6 back in total. That means they think it is a likely event.

If it was 5/1, every £1 you put on, you get £5 profit, so £6 back overall, but this time from a stake of only £1. So that event is less likely to happen. Even less likely is something that is 20/1 or 100/1.

Really? I always understood it that you had to bet 5 to win 1 back. Or 500 to win 100 basically (for real gamblers). Reverse odds.

We often play with three central midfielders and in that formation Ozil could play in the front trio or in the middle of the park, both ways he'd work perfectly fine. We'd certainly find a place for him in our squad, he's the sort of player that you'd want to build a team around.

Easiest thing is to look at total money made back, and not profit made. For me anyway.

No, what I'm saying is you risk your 5 but you only really win 1. You don't really win "6 back." You either lose 5 or win 1.

Perhaps it's just six of one, a half dozen of the other.

To me, as soon as you bet money, it's lost, until if you win it back. So you in effect win 1, and get 6 back.. I'm confused how to explain it pal!

Huh?! Wait a second, there are doubts as to whether we should go for Ozil now? I can appreciate everyone having their own opinion, but I thought the general concensus was that we needed a midfielder (check) with creativity (double check). Ozil ticks both of these boxes, in addition to being young and drum roll please...the man even represents value! If it is indeed true that Bremen would be willing to sell at £12m then I personally on behalf of David Gill will swim to Germany through 1000 miles of shite to see Ozil in a United shirt.

One of the main reasons people are citing is his position in the team, where would he play? Well, he's perfectly suited being the point of the attack in a 433, which is what we play increasingly often and he is also adept in playing a 4-4-1-1, which would be him playing behind Rooney. Whats that you say? What about Berbatov? Well, so many people on here were quick to say how crap he is and that he should be sold, so that shouldnt be a big deal for a lot of you.

Personally, if I had it my way and we did sign Ozil, i'd probably give Berba the Tevez treatment for a few games (i.e. bench him) and see how things go.
