No chance of us signing this kid imo.

Nothing more frustrating than seeing a long-term transfer target of ours go elsewhere and flourish.

It happened with Torres and Ronaldinho, and itll probably happen with Ozil.

He would be a perfect fit for us really, whats our team currently crying out for? a bit a spark from midfield? Check. a regular and genuine goal threat from midfield? Check…..basically we're lacking a genuine top class playmaker as a long term replacement for Scholes who can pull the strings and really give us that special ingredient our midfield is crying out for and been so desperatly lacking lately.

Hes the right age for us to seeing as we clearly favour investing in younger talent these days so he ticks that box at 21 (wasn’t it no high profile/major signings over the age of 26?), as said the position he plays and the qualities he has are exactly what the team needs and hes only got 1 year left on his current deal so maybe his club arnt in a position to demand ridiculous money.

He ticks all the right boxes really, except maybe one........

If he's only got 1 year left on his contract would he cost that much?

It should be because of a bidding war, making his price soar. If City/Chelsea/RM do not want him then I'd see him rather come to us as its probably the best place to establish himself... He'd have to fight Iniesta at Barca... He'd have to fght Cesc @ Arsenal and I don't see any other team he'd go to and win much... Inter have Snjeider, Juventus has Diego... and Manutd have a 35 yr old Scholes which even though he is still worldclass but he'll retire in 1-2 years.

Depends if Bremen were that determined to hold onto him and not really caring that hed leave on a free next summer, maybe to Bremen another season of Ozil is more valuable to them than a decentish transfer fee right now, a bit like Evertons stance with Pienaar for example.

The bigger problem is that Real will want him. Him becoming a star of the WC is the last thing we needed if we wanted to buy him.

We would be not the only club interested in him and Bremen don't need to sell, particularly not for a low fee, as Özil as a player on the pitch is much more worth for them.

Apart from that, it's also possible that he will extend his contract and leave next year for an even higher fee.

Barcelona seem to be signing every decent (well more than decent) Spanish player

I think the only thing in our favour is that he knows we have been chasing him for a long time, not just looking to buy him on a whim like Real might.

But if it just comes down to money then obviously we are out of the question.

I doubt that'll hold much sway to be honest, Madrid whether we like it or not are a far more glamorous destination for European players than we are, weve seen it time and time again (Benzema last summer the latest) if it comes down to a choice then we all know what’ll happen unfortunately.

The thing is logically Madrid really dont need him at all, theyve got Kaka/Van Der Vaart and Canales for such roles yet this is Madrid were talking about, logic doesn’t apply to them, they want the next big thing all the time and with Kaka looking way off the pace last season it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they went in for Ozil.

Barcelona we can rule out id say, they’ve got so many world beaters of that style they wont seek another.

I doubt he's a die hard Barca fan. And I think he'll move to City or Chelsea.

A young boy from Turkish background who worked his way up to the top? He's not going to City, as City aren't really famous outside the UK. He'll want to go to a club that belongs to the clubs so he can do his parents and family proud. As every player, he probably likes a good contract, but IMO he's far away from being only money-driven. Plus, City don't play Champions League football.

So after 3 world cup games he is ahead of Gourcuff and Hamsik ?

Who says he wasnt ahead of them and Silva, before the world cup even begun? For the past 2 seasons he's been a real good player who often and fairly consistantly made the difference for his club side Werder Bremen. Thats something Silva doesnt do a lot of, something Gourcuff seems to have long periods of doing then long periods of not doing and Hamsik I'm not too sure about as I dont watch a lot of serie A, but does he often create goals as well as score them? As Ozil scored almost as many as he did in the league last season, but created another 12 on top of that.

He's been a very good player for a while now. Just because the hype hadnt caught up to him yet doesnt mean he wasnt always a better player than transfer forum favourites. Some of us have been going on about him for a while.

He was fecking brilliant at U21 a couple of years back I'm surprised to see him do it on the big stage quite so quick though.

He'll probably go to Bayern as do most of the best Germans :(

Agreed.

I'd seen him in the uefa cup before that and while I witnessed some of his dribbling and passing ability, I hadnt yet seen him have a great shot. With the U21's he surprised me with his hammer of a shot and since then I've always maintained he's at least as good if not better than David Silva, who the majority of posters in the transfer forum have always seemed to wank over despite the problems with him.

I'd certainly always suggested he'd be a lot more value for money given all the insane fees mentioned for Silva, but seemingly never for Ozil. But obviously the world cup has now thrust him straight into the spotlight.

And if given the game time, Pastore might be the next to make the difference in some matches and be another to play to well for us to sign him.

Gill needs to realize this talent is worth 7-8 mil per year. I really hope we push for this one. He's the one signing that can freshen our entire squad up.

I would suck David Gill's dick if it meant we signed Ozil.

Just forget it guys, we have zero chance of signing him. :(

If there is good money in the bank and were trying desperately to make sure we pick the right player to spend big on then this is the lad, the sort you can build your teams game plan around and at such a young age any transfer fee would be good value looking at both the length of service your going to get and indeed the resale value he will possess in a few years.

This lad would solve all our current midfield issues certainly in a creative sense and set us up for years, Just don’t see it happening though, everything about our transfer policy for some time has been bizarre.

is it me or does the lack of a dive from the keeper make it less spectacular?

depends on what you were expecting, its a decent goal all the same, on the half volley left footed and with a good amount of power.

not a stunning goal but since the lad can dribble, dictate tempo and provide killer passes, a bit of a goal streak cant hurt at all.

this lad is the real deal and would be a brilliant buy, I hope fergie has been watching and forgets this value nonsense, hes worth it.

A lot on here have stated that they rarely get involved in transfer muppetry but with Ozil they feel considerably different. I have to agree.

Weder Bremen would hope Germany progress quite far. After England they'd potentially have to face the argies. So not too long before they will be accepting bids. Since he hasn't renewed already it's likely they had resigned in losing him hence wanting to take advantage of the world cup price hike.

Apparently the Ronny cash is available, prove it Gill

I'd love to see us sign this lad. He's impressed me in every game so far.

He's exactly what we need, and he plays with a maturity you rarely see from midfielders below the age of 25.
