Yes, but muppetry is just speculation isn't it? Everyone is prone to muppetry or speculation if you like, the difference is when the muppetry reaches a level that the poor victim reaches the muppet status. This is usually due to excessive masturbation over speculation.

Fergie has also said he thinks Ozil is a good player and isn't surprised in the interest for him. What SAF says and does are often opposites.

I think it more shows the fragile state of the football media in the modern world. A simple twitter update from a so called "reputable source", be it a journalist, player or whatever, can result in a story being plastered almost anywhere, and we have "done deals" coming out of our arseholes.

Look if we killed the muppet inside of us we wouldn't have half the fun fantasizing about our potential new player. Some muppets need the thrill of an imminent signing to get a hard on!

It's funny as the twitter story first appeared about the Barcelona deal at the same time as Fergie was in the london offices yesterday where I believe they have computers and internet access. Mischevious scotsman, no wonder he was smiling

News alerts are calming down now for me. Just some spanish papers copying the Mails Mascherano to Barcelona story. Very surprised at how quiet Hibbs and Honigstein twitters have been today.
 
The first casualty of transfer is the truth!

With these tweets, facebook updates etc there is just too much noise. Some poor muppets have been keeping a "hard on" vigil now for a week and they are near to bursting or spewing (whichever may be the case) - they need closure or release!

I did not enter that thread even once.. Although I was very active in the Benzema thread until recently when it was locked for no apparent reason..

I also vaguely remember making a few posts in the Berba Thread.. Only after the transfer was complete..
 
If I was a really top footballer - I would wait for and accept a bid from Real Madrid - speak about my admiration for spanish football - and when I sit there with a pen in my hand about to sign the contract, I would get up and leave claiming I would never sign for that crap club if it was the last one on earth.

Now THAT would be funny :)

Funny, I had the same dream. Except I took off the Madrid shirt I was wearing and wiped my backside with it as well.
 
Where does the Hargreaves thread stand? We must have spent 2 years trying to sign him, can you imagine what is was like in here?
Then even longer back we had the RVN thread, we spent months trying to sign him when he bust his knee and we had to wait another year. That must have broke a few records in here as well.
 
Honigstein's sources say there has been no offer, and Ozil himself has says he knows nothing about an offer from Barca.

Werder Bremen confirm Manchester United target Mesut Ozil set to leave | Football | guardian.co.uk


Werder Bremen's director of sport Klaus Allofs has confirmed Mesut Ozil may be leaving the club this summer but insisted there had been no official offers for the midfielder yet.

Reports in Spain have suggested Barcelona are close to an agreement to sign the 21-year-old Ozil, who has one year left on his contract and impressed during Germany's World Cup campaign. However the club's media director Tino Polster said "there are no talks and there is no offer from Barcelona."

Manchester United are also interested in Ozil , with their manager Sir Alex Ferguson having watched Bremen's friendly with Fulham on Saturday, and Chelsea also being linked with a move for the midfielder.

Allofs told the Kreiszeitung Syke newspaper: "It is possible that there is now a bit of movement on the issue.

"But I am not running backwards and forwards to the fax machine or getting sweaty palms when I check my emails to see if maybe an offer has arrived."

Ozil has turned down a new contract with Werder so the Bundesliga club are expected to sell him rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next year.
 
This thread will probably break records, not due to sheer transfer muppetry, but mostly due to the fact that every other post contributes to nothing but pointing out that this indeed thread has many pages and will get even more.

And can some people please get off their feckin high horses and stop calling the other a muppet in order to try to liberate themselves from such label. It's ridiculous.

We're all in this thread, aren't we. I actually reckon most of us do want us to bring in the player. I'll admit I'd love to see Özil in the red shirt.

Do we need him desperately? Of course not. Would he fit in perfectly? Possibly not, but with his talent and supposed fee it could definitely be worth a gamble and you know it.

Do I think it will happen? Probably not. But I'm pretty sure we're interested, just not sure how interested.
